A lot of people missed the significance of Camille pointing out the 'reputation of racist incidents.' Yes, every entity in the USA has some history/present w/ racism, but to have a "reputation" means something else entirely. It means they likely go out of their way to make Black people feel uncomfortable or endanger their safety. The fact that Tom couldn't even acknowledge why it could be problematic is a problem. What if they're driving thought the south and he doesn't have a concept of 'sundown towns.' If he were my partner, I would think his lack of awareness of his environment could put us in danger. Or maybe I'm making too much of this (but America is NOT post-racial)

Ikechi wanted to diminish Emen’s efforts for the party, he even made a snide comment about the table cloth, and all he could come up with are the taco’s she ordered. He’s passive aggressive.

Ikechi is NOT there for a wife! He is there for followers and promoting his book! I dislike this man so much- mainly because I LoVE Emem! He is passive aggressive and is jealous of her success. Emem deserves so much better! He is in for a rude awakening, because when he actually sees what people are saying about him, he is going to have to self reflect! This man moved to be on the show for a 2nd time!!

Emem cousin was simply telling Ikechi you have to date your wife. A man wouldn't have to be told to treat his wife like a queen.

Meeting family for the first time is an interview. Ikechi has had 3 interviews. The first was with the cousin, 2nd with a friend and a 3rd joint interview, and he's failed all 3. Ikechi would be denied the request to marry our daughter. Absolutely NOT! A man would confidently answer all questions to please the family and friends and put an ease on their concerns.

What is Hue? Why can't you say Black Woman? Are you trying to protect your white job, just in case a coworker of a certain hue sees this?

My husband and I have lived in Chicago the past 15 years and we both strongly agree that Chicago women are rough. Not necessarily aggressive but they lack softness, and some lack refinement.

I feel bad for Thomas. He is adopted by a white family. This family raised him in their community. They are both black . Get over it Camille . They should have let her leave before the marriage. She said she was unsure if she was ready . They both are looked as black in the world.

Michelle and David are a loss cause. I agree Camille is making a big todo about their differences they are both black regardless of their separate experiences. I loved and agreed with Camille’s sister recommendations to them and her analysis of their concerns. Well really Camille’s concerns. Her sister was on point with the comment regarding black men vs black women experiences dating.

Camille has identity issues. Trying too hard to prove she is black by who she is associated with. Speaking of Ikechi So here are my thoughts . Mr. author is STILL reeling from seeing in REAL TIME , through her life and job and apartment and prolly bank account that HE is NOT on her level ...but women in society even with all that she has are told to date DOWN and not "overlook" a man because he has less ...but a man will DAMN sure look down at a woman who HE feels is less especially from a physical standpoint . When he saw that apartment it was a hit on that HUGE ego that is really built on a whole lot of TALK and anecdotes. He has been TRYING to take her down a few pegs EVERY chance he gets either by talking bad on himself so SHE feels bad FOR him or TRYING to make her feel a way that she has all that she has ...or as most broke jealous people call it ....painting her out to be " bougie". This episode TRYLY encapsulated how insecure , fake , and jealous he is that this woman who he's NOT attracted to is doing waaaay better than him and if SHE really stepped into HER power she could and WILL do waaaaaay better than him . He was choosing to make everything a problem . And I said to myself .ohhhhhhhhh......he's trying to make her pay for HIS feelings of inadequacy...so he has to take shots & darts at her .....he's TRYING either consciously or subconsciously to hurt her . She's staring to slowly see that she would Be scarifying HERSELF just to be married .....This moron can't even handle BASIC relationship questions without short circuiting .....you know why ....?? Because his whole EVERYTHING on here is a personality he has half hazards crafted over the years where I don't think THIS MAN even knows who he's truly is ......which is dangerous. Camille has every right to say what she doesn't like or what she prefers in a mate. The issue is, she is holding thomas in contempt, questioning and diminishing his "blackness" based on stereotypes of what she thinks a black man should look like and how he is supposed to act. Even the bar conversation was a none conversation. Because what non urban space in America hasn't had or will not have any type of racial issues? As a black person, using Camille's logic, does that mean if I go to work, Walmart, a sporting event, etc, that I'm not black enough or i don't understand what it means to be black? Since we are talking about culture, racism is a part of American culture. So im not sure what camille is talking about. She's giving faux hotep. Lol

59:20 I think this conversation is great about differences when it comes to interracial relationships. For me I’ve noticed in my circle people (non blacks) are so unaware and one of the worse things I have been told by a white man was I don’t see color. I had a white therapist that said the same thing and I had to educate her about what that means saying that. Them saying this doesn’t make me feel like oh I’m safe you’re not racist. Camille saying she felt like she was in an interracial relationship was so crazy to me last week but this week I can see where she is coming from

I'm tired of Camille talking about race, we are about 8 episodes in and she still talking about race stop talking about who you used to date. On the after party Thomas said it was offensive that she was acting like there's only one way to be black when there's so many ways to be black in America

As someone who as dated a black woman I am so tired of black people talking 24/7 about race is getting old. If black people can’t accept the country they live in…you are free to leave…but they won’t

Having watched these reality shows for years, a lot of these "issues" are a narrative that the producers want. Sometimes, the couples don't have real conflicts. So, the production team writes one for drama. In some cases, the people come in with their own agenda like Ikechi and Juan. Both seem to have come on MAFS to promote their projects. The Camille and Thomas "you're not Black enough " theme is clearly a production pushed one. She may have expressed this sentiment first but they are urging them to continue it.

If I was Thomas I would be slowly steaming looking at a woman who is just as racially ambiguous as me acting like she has to teach me to be Black.

Camille gave one example about Thomas going to the bar that had racial incidents and that’s still not enough information for me to understand why she’s questioning his Blackness and thinks she needs to teach him about the culture. I’m an unambiguously Black woman and I still frequent a hair store where there’s been racial incidents and we all talk about how the ppl who own that store re racist and I’m sure ba lot of Black people went to another store but a lot of us stayed so I guess according to Camille the Black culture police were not being Black the right way. Camille needs to see a therapist and stop projecting her issues on to Thomas.

I really dislike the way Camille associates Thomas’s personality with his “blackness”. There are plenty of black people who are not “R&B smooth” or “Swaggy”. It’s an ignorant perspective. Black people are diverse in our background, behavior, color, lived experiences, etc. Frankly, Allen and Juan have more “swag” than Thomas, and neither of them are black. Until Camille gains more education on the this topic, she should just STOP TALKING ABOUT “THE CULTURE”.

Ike seems arrogant and almost that he doesn’t like women. And when I say that, I’m not questioning his sexuality at all. I just don’t like the way he interacts with women. He was rude, imo, to Emem’s female cousin or friend. The conversation about the tacos was passive aggressive and pointless. I even thought on the after party, he seemed a little annoyed with Keisha at first. This is the same guy who wrote letters or poems to his future wife. Ugh! This season is so messy, but the dynamics are very interesting.

My white son is engaged to a black woman. They have grown up in the same area which was pretty diverse, but I know she had a serious talk with my son and said he needs to understand that they will have biracial kids who will most likely look more black and probably identify that way and he's going to have to learn and try to understand a lot of things he's never had to deal with. I think they are great together and I am really glad they are having open communication about it all since I think they can make it if they continue that way always about all things. She and another black young woman I work with have really opened my eyes up to a lot of things that this more sheltered 58yr old white woman didn't know LOL But if everyone in life would realize so much could be better with open honest communication and trying to put yourself in others shoes. I love listening to your reviews above everyone I have listened to!!

Moesha YES!!! You hit the nail on the head during the Camille and Thomas discussion. It is triggering for all the reasons you articulated. It’s superficial and out of touch and I don’t understand why she is focusing on it so much.

I definitely found it odd when ikechi made the comment about the South. He's born and raised there, in his forties. Georgia and other places in the south are known for "southern hospitality" that can be displayed in multiple ways.

Good review. I think the Reunion is going to be volatile. As for Michelle and David, SMH. David is going to snap st the Reunion from all that he has held in. I felt sorry for him at their housewarming when Michelle said this is where David sleeps and this is the other bedroom. As for Ikechi, there are merely no words to say about him looking for a come up and auditioning in Charlotte and Houston for the show. Camille on the lowkey really wanted to see how "Black" Thomas really is at the backyard BBQ. Madison really is not into Allen but, I think the gym session was just to show him up. Last, circling back to David and Michelle, did you see how she smoothly slipped that question in about Madison? He fell right into it. Rafiu really dislikes Ikechi. LOL

I'm also tired of Camille you can like what you like in a person but she needs to accept Thomas for who he is she could have gotten worse. Also the biracial conversation was important.

Iketchi thinks even some basic questions are "aggressive" he's horrible, so arrogant but insecure at the same time! Emem has put up with a lot more than most would have! Neither David or Emem are perfect but both have been so nice and put up with such horrible partners.

You 2 are not having honest conversations. Sorry don’t know your names but the woman with the side pony tail is right on about the colorism issue with Cameille and Thomas. The other one is 1000% wrong. Thomas clearly said he was angry with what she told him that he’s not like the black men she’s use to dating. As a black man I would never tell a black woman she’s not black enough or dressed like a white woman. I would never think to critique anything about how one speaks or dress. I either accept them for who they are or not. I can’t change anyone and ai don’t want someone trying to change me. I am so confused by the West African woman because she seems really lost that Cameille is disrespecting Thomas by questions his level of blackness. Black people are not a monolith. We are all different. I am not trying to be mean. I am litterslly in shock watching this exchange and the West an African woman seems like there is nothing wrong with what Cameille is doing snd she only saw her do it once 😮???? She’s been doing every episode questioning Thomas blackness. I would have to be honest with my friend and call her out. She’s lost and clueless. Not even sure I can trust her take on anything if she can’t see what Camille is doing is wrong. Very wrong.

It’s interesting to hear this conversation between 2 black woman about what is obvious to most of us the colorism issue with Camille and Thomas. Here I am a black man born and raised in an all black projects. I am a BLACK MAN. Dark skin and all. I do not dress like the typical black man and not sure what that means. I own a lot of shoes and clothes. I don’t have any sports jerseys and never owned a pair of Jordans. I will consider myself a black man. There has to be a deeper conversation about what Camille is doing to Thomas by questioning his blackness. Black men come from many different backgrounds. The late great Colin Powell is from Harlem. If you have ever seen him or heard him talk who would question his blackness? Although I grew up in the projects I listen to rock music, rap, country. My wife says I dress like a white man. I don’t give a D. I am comfortable in who I am. Getting back to Cameille. I know exactly who she is. A mixed raced suburban girl just like Thomas trying hard to run from the white community she was raised in and started dating dark skin black men from the other side of the tracks to be more in touch with her black side. Now she wants to get married but she knows those guys from the other side of the tracks will never pass for what she needs as a husband in her mind for her children. She grew up ignoring guys like Thomas and thought they were nerdy. Thomas is educated, got himself together as a professional and has a bright future ahead of him. Camille needs to get out of her head. I say if she wants the hood guy, go get them and accept him for who he is. She dates these men and trust me very judgmental tears them the same as she is with Thomas. I dated a woman like Camille once. Although I am a black man from the hood. I wanted better. I am a software engineer living in the suburbs in a nice beautiful home and doing well. I dress the way I want to dress and most women would always compliment me. This woman would complain how I dressed to go out to eat on a Saturday afternoon at a regular restaurant. She wanted me to wear a suit because a previous guy wore suites. I don’t wear suits. I had to leave her as fine as she was. Just wasn’t worth it. My wife also complains because I wear the same colors in everything. White, navy blue and grey. But I always look good. I know this because the ladies let me know.

I may be old school, but it would never occur to me to get happy to see a particular brand sneaker in my man’s closet. However, if my significant other needs assistance with outfits for going out to certain places, i would go shopping with him to buy things that we agree is appropriate for the occasion. As long as he looks presentable when we go out, that would acceptable.

Like you both said, Karla is serious and I don’t think she’s happy with Juan’s callous comments and behavior. He suddenly appears to be condescending towards her and disinterested in contributing to the marriage financially nor emotionally.

The first thing I saw in Thomas’ apartment was the outdated white refrigerator. I had difficulty reconciling his profession with his lifestyle.

Michelle is not wron about David's status, she is just mean about it and shut down day 1. Camille needs to give grace; Madison doesn't realize how great she could have it with Allen. Emem needs to run and Juan and Carla - ah no, not a match.
