Pablo de Sarasate, a Spanish composer and one of the most outstanding violinists of the 19th century, composed many brilliant violin solo pieces based on famous opera arias. Among them, the most famous and widely performed piece is the Carmen Fantasy. The Carmen Fantasy is a work in which Sarasate arranged various themes from Georges Bizet’s opera Carmen into a brilliant violin solo piece. This piece features numerous melodies familiar to our ears, transforming what could be ordinary vocal pieces into completely new, fantastic melodies through dazzling violin techniques. The Carmen Fantasy, imbued with Sarasate’s characteristic brilliant technique and passion, is the most well-known and frequently performed version among the various versions of the Carmen Fantasy.
스페인의 작곡가이자 19세기 가장 뛰어난 바이올린 연주자 가운데 한 사람인 사라사테는 유명한 오페라의 아리아를 주제로 화려한 바이올린 독주곡들을 많이 작곡했는데, 그중에서 가장 유명하고 널리 연주되는 곡이 카르멘 환상곡입니다. 카르멘 환상곡은 사라사테가 비제의 오페라 카르멘에 나오는 여러 가지 주제들을 모아 화려한 바이올린 독주곡으로 편곡한 작품입니다. 이 곡에는 우리 귀에 익은 수많은 멜로디가 등장하는데, 자칫 평범하게 들릴 수 있는 성악곡을 화려한 바이올린 테크닉으로 중무장해 완전히 새로운 환상적인 멜로디로 탈바꿈시켰습니다. 사라사테 특유의 화려한 기교와 열정이 고스란히 녹아 있는 카르멘 환상곡은, 다양한 버전의 카르멘 환상곡 중 가장 널리 알려져 있고 많이 연주되는 대표적인 버전입니다.
