Congressional Women's Softball Game Photo Slideshow (2010-2021)
The Congressional Women’s Softball Game began in 2009 with captains Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL), Rep. Jo Ann Emerson (R-MO), Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) and Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME). They brought together a team of women Members of Congress to play the female campaign staff from both parties after Debbie Wasserman Schultz announced her own battle with breast cancer. In 2010, the Members asked the women of the Washington, D.C. press corps to join the game as the opponent and a lasting rival was born.
The Congressional Women’s Softball Game has raised more than $2.6 million for the Young Survival Coalition (YSC) since the Game began in 2009 and has become a staple of Capitol Hill summer activities.
The 2022 game is scheduled for the evening of September 14 at Watkins Field in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Washington D.C.
All the photographs in this video were taken by photojournalist Jeff Malet. Every game played except the first one in 2009 are represented in this video.There was no Congressional Women's Softball game in 2020 due to the pandemic.
YSC is the premier global organization dedicated to the critical issues unique to young women who are diagnosed with breast cancer. They offer resources, connections and outreach so women feel supported, empowered and hopeful.Breast cancer is something few young women ever think will happen to them- and certainly not at such an early age. When faced with a diagnosis, they may feel confused, angry and isolated. YSC is a place where women can go to find a circle of support and the best information available to navigate their treatment and their lives.

    Thank you all for serving! Gosh that drill team is outstanding! Thank you for presenting this whole thing. I grew up at Fort Ord U S Army Base where my dad was Post Quartermaster General. He was a full Bird Colonel. He served 32 years, including a very long duty in Persia during WWII. I was only nine years old when he retired, I’m 77 now. We used to have the film which had been put on VHS tape, of his perfect retirement ceremoney - the grand Passing In Review of the troops with the band and the flags, the speeches and the whole thing. Having that film meant so much to me. Terribly sadly, it burned in the fire when my home burned down with my son, his wife and four year old son died in the fire.

    Great songs. But I want to thank the Navy for your medical help aboard the Hospital ship. I am sorry, but I won't thank you for the voyage on the flat bottom from Nam to Okinawa that was supposed to be 4 day and took 9. I know you could not stop that typhoon, but you are crazy to want to be on ahip. I will take the jungle any day. haha
