Lesley Gore - It Took A Long Time - David Frost
From David Frost in the early 70's. Was going to be included in the motion picture Apple Man with Martin Sheen before it was shelved. Very different from the version later released by Labelle. Again, terrible audio, but fun for the hard core fans and part of her career trajectory. Not included in this clip, but David Frost gushed and compared her to Edith Piaf, which took her very much by surprise.

Lesley Gore - Music That Makes Me Dance - Merv Griffin
Переглядів 8622 роки тому
From Merv Griffin in the mid to late sixties. The song is from the musical Funny Girl, which she starred in for the (John) Kenley Players "summer stock" company in the sixties. As always, the quality of the audio is not the best, as this was recorded on my old tiny reel to reel tape recorder. However, the performance is excellent. Packs a lot of emotion into a 2 minute performance.

One of Lesley's best performances ever. The sound quality is not great, but the performance is. Lesley was doing mash-ups long before they were trendy.

Lesley's story line from All My Children. She's included in 4 or 5 scenes. Playing agent June Gordon, she both sings and acts. Lesley and Melba Moore both perform Easy To Say, Hard To Do. Video quality is not great, but this is a wonderful rarity for the hard core fans.

Lesley appears on The Today Show with Katie Couric. She sings You Don't Own Me and a very nice, but shortened, version of Van Morrison's Moon Dance. So versatile!

The video quality is terrible, but it's really all about the song and that voice.
Very very good but I like the original
Calm down down women in red.
She had a great voice for a very young girl at the time.
Man o man I appreciate her now so much
HAIR!!!!
OMG, I LOVE her!
Yea, she was a Queer.. oh well.
Major legend, incredible
I admire her because she protected her privacy a lot
Her beautifuo hair's colour seemed natural as well her gorgeous and bright green 🌊 👀
Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughn, Lesley Gore, they have nothing on you, you are legend to those of us who came of age with your music, R.I.P. You are missed.
A beautiful legend!
Loved her so much!
Live special talent . A magical performance.
when was this recorded? She was talking about writing and recording a new album but wouldn't that have been Ever Since? I'm curious because that was released in 2005... but I assumed this video was from years before that? but maybe not? idk but she slays every time
I'm guessing mid to late 80's.
I love the way she sang You Don't Own Me later in her career. It's so much more soulful and jazzy. Ofc I love both!
She puts so much into each performance.
Loved Lesley. She looks so beautiful in this interview.
a lesbian
But talent is and it was much more important than her sexuality
THE AMERICAN WOMAN 1963 .. AND 3 NOVEMBER 2023 ... AND FOR EVER .....
Sarah Lawrence, big time artsy-fartsy college for rich kids.
She had some struggles there from what I've heard....them artsy-fartsy rich kids performing Brecht mocking her for her pop hits.
Not them giving her meat when she was a vegetarian 😂
Such a crush on Her 16 yr old self lol
Stunning…Classy…Intelligent… No ego…What a beautiful lady…
And full of talent
@@annaritaranalli1791 and funny and kind :)
Too bad she hated men.
What you mean she hated men? If you mean she was a lesbian, then yes
Do you hate men?
She said she had reasons to adore both, she just felt attraction for women.
Piano player was cool!
Good interview. The ladies asked good questions and then let Lesley answer them. I grew up on Lesley Gore songs. She was so talented. I miss her music. RIP.

Just found out what a gem she is and never known she is the writer of the this beautiful song OOMO. Same as Its my party, Love them all
I love how respectful the interviewers were. They are asking good questions and are looking super engaged and interested in Lesley's answers. So many interviewers look like they just want to bang out the questions as quickly as possible and not actually listen to the answers. I enjoyed this one. Thanks for sharing it.
What a talented lady !
I love Lesley
AmeN all my galpals' saaaaaaaaaaaaaaNGgggg....
2023
I adore Lesley.
Saw Moore - Love in a small venue in San Francisco 15+ years ago. First, Melba Moore; then dynamic Darlene Love. Outstanding live performances. After the 90 minute event, MS. DARLENE LOVE was approachable and asked a personal assistant to get a full sized poster; which she graciously signed. This Irishman thought her performance & interaction was top notch, very memorable. This artist has been relevant for over 5 decades. [ she made Phil Spector a success; along with Ronnie & the Ronettes]. Hope Ms Love is prospering in her retirement-- well deserved. FAIR PLAY TO YOUR, D.L.!!
Irene Cara brought me here ❤️
Ho scoperto questa artista da pochi anni e me ne sono innamorata
Purtroppo 'e morta abbastanza presto ....era davvero brava

Did she have her nose fixed
Never tire of hearing Lesley Gore sing. Thanks for all the music. Cinthia Nixon was so young and talented.
That was blatant lip syncing. 🤦🏻♀️
I saw this show originally on a pair of “Annie Oakleys” in previews I think. Was it the great American musical? Well no. But it was GREAT, it was AMERICAN, and it had some wonderful music. Liz an Nelle, as usual, we’re decades ahead of their time. They created the proto-type for the juke box musical that has populated Broadway yers later.
Ellie from Levittown Long Island! Kept the party going till the British Invasion.Legend Songwriter!
Lesley and Quincy went into the studio on March 30, 1963 and recorded four songs: Hello Young Lover (You Ain't Going To Get To My Heart); It's My Party; Something Wonderful; and Danny. Lesley went on to have 19 chart singles.
Strange she agreed to lip sync on this show, as she was always gave exceptional live performances.
Along with Dylan (of course) and Rhett Miller/Old 97's I have been obsessed with Lesley Gore from her beginnings. A very weak voice which actually improved with age, when Quincy Jones was asked to comment on her talent he was reduced to noting her "perfect pitch". Don't care. Her pure pop material combined with a voice that has enchanted me since I bought her first album upon release. So many underrated songs: currently have got on loop "What Am I Gonna to Do With You".
Interestingly, Skeeter Davis (who was once married to Ralph Emery) had also recorded “What Am I Gonna Do With You”. Both ladies did a fantastic job with this almost forgotten, underrated song.
The world is less without you Leslie singing you tunes! You were so magical all your life, I loved the bus in 1963! You won my heart! Miss you all these years, but still play your music!
Quincy Jones had the talent of knowing talent!
The late and the great Leslie Gore, she gave so much to so many, way before her era!
