Kingdom hearts 3 is great, sure. But the first two were masterpieces

Ive said this on other videos but my biggest issue with KH3 is the way the story is set up. Youve got several hours of what feels like nothing only to be bombarded with one big revalation after another right at the end. And yes, the end is the most sensible place for most of this to happen, but its still exhasting. I also question why Sora is still the main character at this point, it feels more like he's just a bystander in everyone else's story. Oh but he does get to have the big hero moment saving Aqua and waking Ventis because reasons.

Meh. The base game is like a "fine" action game. But when we had 2 back to back 11/10. When we get a 6.5 or 7/10 game, its bad. Dlc made it way better, but base game was really overhyped for the wait

When I beat the game I just had an empty feeling , like they really were being forced to write a story they still weren’t sure how to wrap up. And Sora feels like a unconfident idiot the whole game he had so much more too him I KH 1&2

The game is decent but deserves the hate it got for a majority of the experience.

KH3 is a fun game. It demolished any interest I had in the story. The narrative is horrendous, it answered nothing built up from previous games, I think even the DS games were better than KH3 in terms of narrative, but regardless, it’s fun to play.

38:01 is pretty much the entirety of this videos point. “Sora,Donald and goofy are kinda removed from the main story, which is honestly fine because we get to do our own thing” The main component to your enjoyment of this game was the sandbox. Which is honestly fine but to then assume that everyone else should purely derive that enjoyment from that singular aspect is hilarious. Most of your video segments in one way or another tied back to “this gameplay element X or this particular gameplay element Y” as to why the game was so great but then a half assed reasoning as to why it’s okay the story lacked in specific part because “the gameplay was so great”? Some of us love the inclusion of Disney WITH sora,not a reactionary vid from sora midway through the plot. To say it’s subjective but then call people idiots for not liking the same is ironic to say the least.

The story overall is a banger. However I had several issues with this game. Most of them are gameplay related, but some are also story related. 1. The biggest offender was attractions by far. They are not earned. The game spams them at you. And you cant toggle them off. It be one thing if they were cool finishers exclusive to a boss battle (like the roller coaster for the Rock Titan). Sadly they are not. The game expects you to use them, because u have so many mandatory battles with a billion heartless. They just took me out of the flow of the game, to the point I just forced myaelf not to use them, which feels like shit, because if a game gives me tools, I want to be compelled to use them. 2. Links. Links are essentially Summons. They are unlocked as you progress the game, but dont rlly feel special at all. In KH1 and KH2 they had weight and lore to how u got them. In this game they are basically a throw away mechanic in addition to the miriad of other things the game throws at you. 3. World design. Each world in KH normally had about 6-9 stages give or take. Some even more. You traverse the world, fight heartless, and then get a cutscene when u reached certain places. Not all of them, but most of them. This game has no such thing. Each world is often 2-3 stages long, and they are absolutely massive sandboxes with not a lot going for them. It takes away the feeling of progression and replaces it with a fake sense of exploration. 4. Mid-Abridged stories: Ok I rlly appreciated what Toy Box and Monstropolis was handled. They were funny, expansive, and Sora had a lor of involvement in the goings on of those worlds. The test however are terrible. Arandale beingbthe worst offended. Sora literally doesn't do anything in that world. Hebis basically just there going up and down the mountain. Its genuinely frustrating. 5. Lack of Coliseum: This was where the mayority of the end game for most KH games was held. This is were tou would go to unlock all of ur abilities, the cool weapons, the big boss fights. This game? Nah. Here are some simulated battles in some worlds that are spread all over the place. Absolutely terrible. 6. No Radiant Garden: No inclusion of FF characters was the moat god awful thing. I wanted to see them all so much, and I basically got norhing (im not counting DLC because its nor base game). I would've forgiven this tho, if we had an expansive and interactive Twilight Town. It is an original world after all with some FF characters. Sadly, twilight town is literally just the plaza, and the woods that lead to the Mansion. Nothing else. No expansion, no clock tower, no new characters (outside of the rat and its minigames), and no expansive story to go with it. Terrible. 7. No toggable Forms: You get a bunch of rlly cool Keyblade forms in this game, and I aporeciated a lot of them. You can also swap keyblades which is super cool. That being said, you cannot access them when you want to, due to you having to combo ur way into them, unlike in KH2, where id u had enough meter, you could transform. They also conflict a lot with attractions and companion special moves, which is also terrible. 8. Cut scenes are long af: This game has cutscenes. A lot of them. Like seriously. So much so that the developers know u just finiahed a cutscene, because 9 times out of 10, the minute u finish a cutscene, you will be spawned right next to a save point. Seriously im a grown ass adult with things to do, and some of these cutscenes were over 5 minutes long. Most of my gameplay time was spent watching a frigging movie rather than playing the stupid game. I still sat down abbd watched them because despite my gripes and impatience, I still love this story to death. However it rlly made me miss the non-voice acted cutscenes in previous titles. Seriously evwryrhinf in this game is voice acted, something that dint need to be a thing. For example; in Toy Box you get about a 5 minute cutscenes of characters just introducing each other and goinf over plesantries. That could've been made with speech bubbles like in previous titles ffs. 9. You get hit. A lot. And most of the time, is because sora is floating in the air. You are locked into so many animations in the game, that its not funny. I ended up using mostly magic in my gametime, because whenever I used a keyblade, sora would make 10 million attacks and flashy moves, by me pressing the X twice. However designed the keyblade combat, needs to be replaced. At least the magic in this game is super smooth, something I came to appreciate a lot. 10. Perhaps the most aggravating of it all. Kairi dint do jack shit in this game, other than dying. Niether did Axel. They hyped up these 2 as keyblade wielders, and they dint do anything meaningful. I t just rubbed me the wrong way.

I need to play kingdom hearts 3 again. I've only played through it all the way once.

Honestly, I’ve been playing through the Kingdom Hearts games, and I’m looking forward to playing Kingdom Hearts III. Genuinely the only thing I’m not looking forward to about it is having to hear Let it Go again (that song is utter torture). The game looks like a lot of fun to play, the Disney worlds look great, and the graphics are quite possibly the best that Kingdom Hearts has ever looked.

KH3 is decent, at least when compared to Osaka team's previous games and their involvement in next gen console forces them to change their mindset of how they are supposed to approach game design in next entries. Limit Cut and Yozora definitely redeem it. It was introduced in 0.2 with Phantom Aqua but people forget that because its Critical Mode is trash in terms of design choice. Like Aqua is established as a mage oriented keyblade wielder in BBS but she can only cast 3 spells before she has to wait 30 seconds before doing anything again is very counterproductive. Sure she's in the realm of darkness for a decade and such for justifications. However, it goes against design philosophy for a gameplay design perspective to cut your resource limit to the point of players decided that one tool isn't worth using because it doesn't scale well with how many enemies you deal at once. As far as combat mechanics goes, it just feels wasted in some degree. KH has always favour players to get creative in expressing themselves through the use of various tool kits Sora has. However, in this game, Sora doesn't have full agency/control on how he wants to use them at will at any point like previous KH games instead of them interrupting mid fight and you accidentally activate them. Sora's the leader and not giving him the right to coordinate the combat flow when needed at crucial moment undermines why the party need to trust his decision. Then, Sora just mounting on his summons to do very high damage instead of these summons being passive helpers that has their own gimmicks depending on what Sora do didn't really click well with how summons work in previous games. Sora has free movement to do combo with magic+physical before using finishers with summons. In general, most people don't like being forced into cinematic flares during gameplay or camera just do its own thing where enemy could hit from your blindspot. It doesn't really felt earned to use most of form change and link finisher/shotlock where it has long wind-up animation to display how cool it is from the front/below of Sora against superbosses that could break free during those moment and caused the attacks to whiff. I could go on but I think that is good enough. When people expressed disappointment, they don't truly hate the game, they love KH as much as we all do and wanted improvement. Heck they even provided suggestions to make it fun and challenging. Critical Mode doesn't have to be a fake difficulty where you take over 10 minutes to deal with mobs or 20 minutes on bosses just because you do less damage to enemies with high healthbar and they can one shot you for no other reason that they can on a whim. Now, lets just hope that Osaka Team have a clear grasp on how to design their future KH games to be fun and challenging at the same time, even without the need for different modes and see it through that not all mechanics they introduced become completely wasted for majority of the fights. If I am being genuine, I really wanted to use every offensive options Sora had against the 13 Data Org and Yozora. Physical combos, magic, shotlock, links and attractions. I want to at least use them but links and attractions having no free movement makes it a high risk, low reward attempt where such ideas constantly failing. In fact even Shotlock just whiffs on good opportunity with practice to unleash them because of the long cinematic animation and the attack execution wasn't as instant as it was in BBS.

The main overarching story is really good, is the individual stories for some planets bad? Yes but it doesn’t take away from the main story as we finally defeat xehanory

For me, KH3 is a great game but still disappointed for taking 13 years for development after KH2, and it is in PS4(which stronger than PS2) and in the end the Adventure and Story is shorter than KH2 + It got less worlds than KH2(KH2 has 15 worlds and KH3 has only 9 worlds). I believe it would be better if they made KH3D and BbS02 a part of KH3 instead of being separated games or at least if they add more worlds like 6 or 7 at least, many people wanted Atlantis Lost Empire, Treasure Planet, Bugs Life, The Great Mouse Detective, Wall.E, The Black Cauldron, Emperor New Groove, Cars, Brave, The Incredibles, Lilo & Stitch.

KH 1, 2, and 3 are definitely top 3.

I definitely agree about Re:COM, easily D+ tier. But, the original COM on GBA is B+ or A- tier because how the GBA version plays better and the combat feels more natural. Also, 358/2 days is easily a B maybe a A- tier because of how repetitive the combat does become and due to some of the bosses being straight up cancer. I am gonna throw DDD is C+ tier since the story is asinine and BBS in B- tier because at least BBS has a better story and better worlds. And, the rhythm game is D- tier, imo. While the top 3 are between KH 1, 2, and 3 - they are all easily S- or S+.

Thank you for showing KH3 some love. It really is a great game. Maybe not a tight knit one like KH2, but great in its own right.

While I personally think KH3 is the weakest of the big three mainline entries, I still love the game, lol. Despite its faults, I think it was overall a satisfying conclusion to Xehanort's story, and the gameplay is very rich (I definitely still dislike the attraction attacks, though). This intro is very bizarre. You disparage people for presenting opinions as facts, but the video is titled "Kingdom Hearts 3 Is Great", and within the first two minutes you literally say "I'm sorry, Kindgom Hearts 3 is not a bad game". Does drawing the line between objectivity and subjectivity only matter when the opinions are negative? Coming right out the gate with a pretty blatant double standard makes it hard to take your opinion seriously.

I'll hear you out but KH to me is just 1, com, 2, and 358. I hate terra and ven, I hate old man xehanort. I thought this series was gonna be final fantasy and Disney. It's no ff and barely any Disney now.

Tbh, my only complaint was the story before getting to Aqua, there was no reason we couldn’t start in another mission or as Riku and Mickey to give Sora time to recover

Kingdom Hearts 3 is actually mid, but it actually has some moments.

Terra is peak and here's why, the only part where he's a dunce is when he guards captain hooks chest. Most of the game he makes correct decisions. He trusts Xehanort because master Eraqus introduced him as a fellow trustworthy keyblade master and as said he tells Terra what Terra wants to hear. He questions maleficent about whats going on and gets cursed. He plays the role of the huntsman who agrees to but has no intention to actually kill snow white. In Cinderella world I think he just escorts her and kills a boss. In olympus he fights in a tournament I think for Hades but realizes pretty quickly. He only kills Eraqus to save Ven and he only knew because Xehanort had arranged everything.

The fact is that Kh3 is middling and does deserve the hate it gets. It was over hyped and relatively short and lackluster for that decade+ wait. Graphics were amazing, the voice acting was done right, the sounds weren't off and the gameplay was fun for what it was. But things that held it back and caused it to get negative reviews is the story being a mess and not worth the decade+ wait for that finale, the game play wasn't as fun as kh2 and 3ds, and the length of the game was hella short for what was supposed to end an almost 20 year long story. The game was such a mess story and length wise that they had to make a dlc that was basically a patch to try and pad game time and fill in the story gaps but it wasn't enough and was overpriced for the experience we got from it. The mods basically make the experience now and is what people will remember it for now.

How did we get to the exploration for Scala Ad Caelum in the non dlc section? There isn't any exploration in there base game?

I agree. While KH1 doesn't exactly have the best gameplay in the series, it still fun and still holds up today. And the story is still easily the best in the series, with Chain of Memories being a close second, and KH2 being a close third. Unfortunately the series devolved into an over-convoluted, overcomplicated mess, for the most part. Hopefully with the new saga coming up with KH4, we can get a more concise, tighter story, as was seen in the first KH.

I played kh3 before watching any critic viedeos and it felt MAGICAL to play it. I literally felt like a kid playing kh1 again. No game made me feel this passionate about it in a long while. Then i did watch the long critic essays to see what they mean. Honestly it's just really about what someone values most in a game. For me artistic value is the most important. And it fulfilled me to the max. Most bad opinions come from people that need a specific type of combat to even consider a game playable.

KH1 is mediocre at best. B tier is too high.

To each their own. If playing the game doesn't hurt and infuriate you and you manage to derive enjoyment from it instead, good on you - I wish I could as well, but the game absolutely failed in every regard for me. Re-Mind's bosses were great though.

Man was fuckin SPITTIN at the end lmao I stopped playing KH3 at the frozen area cos I just wasn’t in the right mindset to play it. This video makes me want to try it again though, KH2 is one of my favorite games from my childhood, and hearing someone speak passionately about KH3 makes me wanna try it again. Though I will be playing in critical so I can get rid of the attractions 🫠
