By the way something you didn't mention. While Sora forgets the events of the game and that allows leeway for players jumping to KH2... It also serves as a big character development game for Riku because he doesn't forget and it allows new players to be able to like and respect Riku, usually for the first time, since he was an asshole in KH1. I think his fight against the darkness and his acceptance of it is a really compelling story and the best part is that gets built up upon in KH2 :)

Best Kingdom Hearts tuber! I agree, Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories has a ton going for it! Castle Oblivion is such a lonely and mysterious place with a killer atmosphere, you never feel quite safe. The thrill of reaching a new floor along with the fear and uncertainty of what you will forget. Soundtrack also promotes the atmosphere, the sprites are wonderful as you say. Namine’ is my favorite character in the series, she is introduced here along with The Organization who was always mysterious, a stark contrast to the villians of the first game, a much different flavor. I could go on!
I love how Re:com introduced Organization XIII as anything but organized, they couldn't last being in the same room for too long much less a full work day together 😂
Absolutely hilarious video hahahahah, especially the SpongeBob gba kid part. Personally.. I feel both com and re com are tylical "once you get good at it, it's fun" games. It really is dope to get good with the card deck. Gotta be thinking quick constantly. trust. I do think the "finding card x for door y" sucks ass. The rest.. Yea.. All good. Nice cutscenes, music animation. Colors. Etc. Minus points for the ugly grandma joke and Fnaf soundeffect, not a fan
I love Re:Chain of Memories, and think it's super underrated. It definitely has flaws, like the story only happening outside of the recycled disney worlds, and the easily breakable card system but i think the positives far outweigh the negatives. The story is amazing and very intriguing/mysterious throughout, the card battle system, while not for everyone, allows you to play however you want, whenever you want, the boss battles are great, and at worst some of the disney worlds can feel better to play than in KH1 (Atlantica, Neverland, Monstro.) I get burnt out towards the end of my playthroughs, but i still think they're enjoyable every time.
Chain of Memories is one of my favorite games of all time that I can rarely ever recommend to others. The gba version especially holds a very special place in my heart. I didn't have Internet or anything like that as a kid so when I first found out that Kingdom Hearts got a sequel I was so incredibly excited. At the time I didn't know the series would ever continue. I can also credit this one, not KH1, for being what pushed me to try Final Fantasy as I later bought a copy of Dawn of Souls. I really hope you do recoded next as aside from CoM that one gets probably the most hate.
I haven’t played all the games yet. But this game might overtake one and be my favorite. It has a serious tone, a moving story, and an interesting theme about memories. This game is great, and it’s unfortunate that the rest of the games never reach the same level

I love KHCoM on GBA as a kid, and as an adult. Thank you for singing praises of this game, it really needs it tbh
