It only has 56k original miles and it has never been restored. This is the 1st time it's been out in the sun on it's power since it was parked in 1997. I'm starting to put the Cressida Wagon back together and is really starting to look like I made the right choice in saving it. I can't wait to be able to take it out for a drive, I'm pretty confident it's going to drive as good as it looks. Whatever it takes, this is going to be a rare example of the car that preceded the Lexus brand.

When I got the call to go look at a 2 owner 1970 Corvette that's an original LS5 Big Block 454 with a 4spd I was extremely excited. Those Rebel Machines are so rare, worth restoring for sure.
@kevinbarrett9615 They are definitely a part of American muscle car history and should not be treated the way they have been. Unfortunately the economics have to make somewhat sense. They need a lot of metal work and replacement parts are pretty scarce. I tried to get them and bring them back to life. Thanks for watching!!
That rust buckets' 390 4spd combo would make a great base for a ScRambler Clone. Just sayin'.
@danielkeene1623 I like the way you think! I'm typically not a "clone" enthusiast but in this case?? Thanks for watching
I wish you could have shown more of the Hornet. Looked like it might look pretty cool with a bath. It looked like it might have had a roll cage in it and possibly a narrowed rear? hope you can show more of it if you get the cars. Cool video. Thanks for posting.
@valricogarcia in retrospect I probably should have spent a little more time on the Hornet, It did have a cage in but I don't believe the rear was narrowed. Later I found out it was a bracket car up north. I cant recall the state. Supposedly it ran a 360 and was relatively quick. I was anxious to get to the 2 The Machines. Thanks for watching!!
Their all pieces of shit......😂😂😂...by one done already.....I've junked cars better.....garbage crap..all these people think they have something...they don't
Beautiful car!
@keithhuffman1253 Thank you for noticing! I was really lucky to find this car. It is pretty remarkable how well this car was treated it's whole life and getting the story from the daughter that was there when it came home new was awesome! Thanks for watching my channel and hopefully you stick around, I come across some very special cars.
It the mid 70s I bought two AMC Rebels ( exact body style as the Rebel machine seen here ) from Orkin PestControl . $500 for each. They were both 6 cylinder automatic, power steering, AM radio. The trunk was totally stripped of paint etc , and they smelled of PestControl chemicals. No dents or rust. No pest would get within 14 feet of the cars. Just high miles. I drove one and my brothers drove the other. We drove them until there were worn out.Basically good cars. I wish I knew about the Rebel machine back then and I would have painted them to resemble a Rebel Machine, six cylinder and all .
@ricardofierro7041 That's really cool, those cars would be pretty valuable today due to parts scarcity for The Machine's. I would love to find a couple of 1970, 2 doors just to keep for parts cars. Thanks for watching and sharing!!!
looks v e r y good under. What prt of country U in? The 56K seems legit, no? Wouldnt C that here in NE & / or New England. cool car~
@Chadf838 The mileage is 100% legit. I bought it from the original family that bought it new. The car is in Florida as I am also. Pretty crazy it was in a barn and I just happened to find it while chasing a very rare MOPAR. The Cressida is a special car! Thanks for watching!!
@@scottscars4153 what was the mopowr? Which plymouth? (I’m wrkin ona ’37 right now)...
@@Chadf838 Subscribe to my channel, I'm still doing a little more preservation with the Plymouth and I would like to keep it as a surprise when I put out the video. I'll say it's newer than yours, it's the top performer for this year, there are 5 counting mine known to still exist with an estimated 25-30 built and it has original paint and 56k miles and was parked in 1989. Damn that was a mouthful, lol I think it's pretty cool, I hope you stick around to see it in the very near future

If you subscribe to my channel, I'll be posting a couple more videos of it being completed. It's really close as of today, I'm just waiting on the original radio to be repaired, it was having a couple of issues I didn't like. Thanks again for watching and appreciating this car!!!

@Chadf838 If you would like to see much more of the car including its preservation progress, I have posted a few other videos of this car. It's turning out to be a very nice and almost totally original car. Thanks for watching
Those machines are highly loved in the AMC community, even small pieces of them go for mopar-like prices 😅
@Timman57 I agree, The Machine's are really cool and desirable cars and being a 1 year only car with many unique parts only for that car it's hard and expensive to find parts or restore them. I would say many pieces are more than mopar prices unless it's a factory race car priced piece. I have another RWB The Machine in the works and it's nowhere near this condition thanks for watching!!
Tarps are the death of a car.
@jessicagreene1773 They definitely are never a good thing, but I know when I'm out hunting cars they always make me want to stop and see what's under them
So is the Florida humidity it would seem.
@steve-zx5jb The RWB one was supposedly originally a Florida car but the owner (owned it since the mid 70's) spent some time as a kid driving it around and probably doing doughnuts on Daytona beach trying to act cool. The salt water absolutely killed it. The one taken apart was a northern car and the lighter green one I'm not sure the whole story on it. Typically, our cars down here aren't anywhere near that condition unless there were other factors included in their demise. Thanks for watching!!
@@scottscars4153 Yeah, salty ocean water Humidity, not good.
@steve-zx5jb definitely not a good combination, it always amazes me the amount of people (especially Jeep owners) that like to go out and drive around on the beach and in the surf. You would think they would know better.
So many nice used cars got destroyed during that horrible cash for clunkers program and these skeletons survived?
@pedrofernandez8729 Cash for Clunkers and a couple scrap steel price spike took a lot of cars and parts out of circulation for sure. If these weren't so rare and they would have been long gone I'm pretty sure. Thanks for watching!!
Obama's BS program
@danscott3880 That's no lie!!!
Anyone stupid enough to cash in any muscle car didn't deserve it in the first place!
I don't think the cash for clunkers program went back that far for cars...I think it was like late 1980's and newer, not sure exactly, but there was a year limit on it...what the program did do, was decimate the supply of good used vehicles, especially cheap ones for people who had a very limited budget, and created an artificial shortage and drove the prices of used vehicles, even less than great high mileage ones, WAYY up...we are still feeling the effects of that travesty today....
Wow! Beautiful. Such great shape for that year. Better than some cars less than 10 years old.
@TheWesleyRicardo I agree, it was such an unexpected surprise to look across the field and see it just sitting there. As soon as I saw it, I knew it was going to be special. Hopefully you get a chance to watch a few of the other videos about it. thanks for watching
Saw one of those a couple hours ago in my driveway ...... 😂. Replaced the fuel pump and got it running again this weekend 😅

This one looks like a Canada car because the US has the front automatic seat belt
@user-oj3by4hn2p I wondered about that myself, the car was bought new in Florida though. From what I've read, the wagons didn't come with or at least the very early ones didn't come with the automatic lap belts. This is a 1981 built car so I'm not sure which would apply. Good observation though. Hopefully you get to watch the other videos of the car I've posted. thanks

Subscribed on your advice and shot over to this video. It looks great and I'll be looking forward to the final reveal. This Toyota Cressida had the same engine as my 1982 Supra 2.8liter inline six but the power was reduced from 145hp in Supra to 116bhp in Cressida. I hope you'll restore it to new condition and not do a restomod on it. These were top tier Japanese cars in their day. If you had a Supra or Cressida (Sedan or Wagon), you had some spare change floating around. These were the precursors to the Lexus brand. Cushy and comfortable, able to keep up with American V-8s of the day in terms of reserve power for pulling hills and passing. Quiet and large enough to hold 5 people. The wagons were work horses for the upper middle class looking for something reliable.
@tomwebber9377 You'll have to check out the rest of the videos in the series, I think you'll be amazed at what the car is returned to. Agreed on the Supra and Cressida were the top of the food chain and very similar in many ways. I cant be the one to restomod something that's survived over 42 years in this condition.

Rust bucket…
Dodge did not copy this design. Charger show car was already out in early 1965. The Charger is longer and lower with many more powerful engine options. 4 bucket seats and hide-away headlights. Full length front to back console. I always thought that AMC copied the Plymouth Barracuda. At the end of the day the Marlin is interesting and unusual. I have not seen one since the late 80s.
The Marlin debut was actually in 1964 as a Tarpon on the car show circuit. They went into production in 1965 as a Rambler Marlin and became a stand alone Marlin in 1966. If your a Chrysler fan, keep a look out on my channel for a really cool Plymouth that I will be posting about shortly...Thanks for stopping by!!
@@scottscars4153 So the Charger's design was basically completed by 1964-65. The show car was made to get public consensus but it was already geared for production. I've owned two.
