4:04 aww wow I was always taught it was the island way. But as I grew to adult I noticed it was a pesky thing tht we did n my family when offering them money. To me it always was so long and drawn out tho. The Amt of times we have been told no as well as we learned to say no sooooooo many if not toooo many times 😂😂😂😂 I had a feeling it had to do with tht old “island way” saying, encompassing a whole lifestyle of ❤ Guaiya !!!!

@@DaniAdams i was strange and had been born and raised in the mainland, it hurt at the time, but I realized we were all children and all is forgiven. I did have so much fun though living there. I hope to go visit, but those prices are high for tickets. I'm back home in California, but I'd Love to visit my remaining relatives, represent #Agat

Yes! At 4:44 I talk about how Guam was occupied by Spain in the late 1500s so there's definitely a lot of Spanish influence on the language, food, and religion.

@DaniAdams Hafa adai! Along the Gulf, the beaches are quite the same as Guam. Though the color of the ocean is similar, the "feeling" is definitely not the same as Guam. I really miss the tropical scenery of Guam, which I've only seen closest to in Florida's Key West. In the Keys, there are coconut 🌴 and plumeria trees of various colors. Even houses built so close that it reminds me of Inajan Village. Oh yah! There were mango trees as well. Still, although this "Guamie" 😀 has left Guam; the "Guam" in me will forever abide in me 😀 Sending my warmest greetings and prayers for you all 😀 Esta later, escalator 😉😉😉

@@terrylaneallen4763 Yep! You can take the Guamanian out of Guam, but you can never take the island out of the islander haha! Guam's sunsets are also something that I haven't been able to witness anything that comes close to it. I totally get you mean about that feeling!

@DaniAdams I said "Guamie " because of one of my Air Force instructors. He had asked me what the people of Guam are called, "Are you guys called Guamanese, Guamisian? What???" LOL!! I told him, "Guamanian, like Romanian" 😆 🤣 😂 Ai adai, these haoles! 😆 🤣 😂 It was he who said, "You can take the Guamie out of Guam, but not the Guam out of the Guamie!" 😀 For the remainder of my training with him, he called me Guamie 😉

I love the hospitable nature of Guamanians! It's only when it gets to the point of being taken advantage of by people who don't appreciate or reciprocate the kindness, that's when I wish they would know when to establish boundaries.

@@ROGER-yo9cy I am! Born and raised, but the only time I was taught Chamorro was in elementary school and that was it 🙁 There are some families that speak Chamorro at home so the kids grew up with it, but most of us grew up with just English.
