We're in the Pines
United States
Приєднався 31 тра 2012
We are Missouri based hikers, and brothers, John and Ryan. We visit national parks, historic sites, state parks and any other places of interest. Our goal is to document the adventures we take for ourselves and share them as well in hopes others can enjoy along with us. We started traveling together in 2021 and now we hit the road every chance we get. Hopefully our content is interesting and helpful in inspiring you to get out and experience the world.
Blue Skies At 14,265 Feet | Mount Blue Sky
As a core childhood memory, the old stone structure atop Mount Evans was burned into memory. Returning in 2021, I had not laid eyes on a single image of the building since childhood, vowing only to see it again with my own eyes. Having that accomplished, it was time for our kids to forge their own memories of this 14'er which is now renamed Mount Blue Sky. This is the highest paved road in North America. You will notice by the end of our time on the summit, the smoke from the Alexander Mountain Fire had caught up with us, blocking much of our visibility.

High in the Alpine! Trail Ridge Road and Bear Lake
Переглядів 10516 годин тому
Rocky Mountain National Park was the first national park we were exposed to. Our parents brought us here several summers and doing so, they gave us some of our fondest memories. That is why we started making plans when it occurred to us, The kids haven't really seen Rocky! This was the day we dedicated to giving the kids the real experience of this park. Trail Ridge Road, the Alpine Visitors Ce...
We Finally Did It! | Old Fall River Road | Holzwarth Ranch

Months before our trip to Colorado, it dawned on us, our kids hadn't really gotten to experience Rocky Mountain National Park. John's oldest two had been when they were young but had very little memory so we decided then, we had to take the kids to experience our home park. We dedicated our first day to driving the Old Fall River Road over to the west side of the park where our campsite at Timb...
Back in Moab! Revisiting Canyonlands and Arches
Переглядів 1383 місяці тому
After three years we took the opportunity to return to Moab with our Dad on the way to Salt Lake for a family wedding. With only one day and blistering July heat we hit the must see sights and tried to stay hydrated. It was all just as we remembered and felt so familiar. However this time we were armed with better camera equipment to capture better the beauty of this desolate place.

We had an itch to take the kids camping and we wanted to go somewhere new. Roaring River had been on the radar for quite some time and it was finally time to give it a chance. Pictures of the spring tucked into the bluff was enough to get us excited to see it.
The Tree of Life is Incredible! Ruby Beach and Kalaloch Beach
Переглядів 3664 місяці тому
Thankful for our fourth consecutive day of perfect weather in the PND, we took it easy on two of the most popular beached in the park, Kalaloch and Ruby Beaches. The must see destination at Kalaloch is the tree of life which defies nature and clings to life by its roots which have kept it from falling onto the beach. It is a truly inspirational sight. We searched the beach for shells and sand d...

Переглядів 754 місяці тому
Our second day in Olympic was dedicated mostly to the Hoh Rainforest area but we had one waterfall we had missed the previous day so we started our morning off with a short hike up to Marymere Falls. This is one of the most popular waterfalls in the park. After that we made the long drive down to the Hoh entrance of the park where we spent over an hour waiting to enter because of high visitatio...
We flew to the PNW! | Sol Duc | Lake Crescent | Madison Falls | Ancient Groves | Salmon Cascades
Переглядів 2945 місяців тому
For our farthest trip yet, we give in and fly. We landed in Seattle with time to explore the waterfront before taking our ferry across to the Olympic Peninsula where our cabin waited for us. Our first day in Olympic National Park was spent in the north. We entered the Elwha River area and hike the short trail up to Madison Falls. Our second stop was Crescent Lake which was breathtaking. Enterin...

Back in the Wild Basin | Chasm Falls | Ouzel Falls | Copeland Falls
Переглядів 2016 місяців тому
As warmer weather made us eager to hike we took our chances at hiking in May in Colorado. Knowing the snow pack would keep us from high elevation hikes we found trails we could access and that meant waterfalls. Chasm falls is along the Old Fall River Road. The second day we returned to the Wild Basin to hit Copeland Falls, Calypso Cascades, and then Ouzel Falls.
Spring Day Hiking at Knob Noster State Park
Переглядів 948 місяців тому
Determined to hike, we snuck away from our every day lives and took an afternoon to hit the trail. With Spring upon us, we wanted to take in all the new blooms and fresh green. While Knob Noster State Park is not exactly a park of grandeur, the beauty of this park can be found in the small, intimate ways that require you to stop, slow down and take them in with purpose. We connected the Hawk's ...

Hello, do you remember how long it took you to complete this loop with the stops?
This is fire Mr Crawford
What a wonderful video. Kids and animals and birds and mountains and lakes and snow. Thanks for sharing. 😊 God’s creation is absolutely amazing and beautiful.
Nice capture of the marmot. ❤
Yes, loved seeing the marmot so close.
Beautiful footage of your trip 😊
One of your students said he loves u, not me. I'm 90 years old
Wonderful video. Loved the mountains, your kids enjoying the Rocky Mountains, the wild flowers, flowing cold streams and the snow in July. Very nice 😊
W Mr Crawford
Absolutely beautiful. Fall River Road looks awesome! It does look narrow in some spots, though 😮 beautiful scenery and views! 😊
❤ I love it!
Love it!❤
BTW, you will change your thoughts on if they are a mountain or not by going from Salem to Emince on a bicycle....
Akers Ferry is closed permanently. Makes me wish I had taken it at least once.
Drove this loop with my son two weeks ago, and it's hard to capture the vastness of the overlooks in photo or video. Definitely one of those things people need to try and see for themselves, but this video captured it about as best as you can.
Thank you! I'm glad you got to see it for yourself. Nothing can truly compare!
Great video and information, this is one of the places I will be going on May . thank you
Oh my
Love the Black Hills, too. Oh my, gorgeous.
Awesome , loved the Badlands. Sage and rocks. So cool. I missed this one.
SO enjoyed watching a second time.
Roaring Rivers is so relaxing. Great Views of the fish. The kids are wonderful. Thanks so much for a great hike. The music is always GREAT. 😏
Missouri has some great cave attractions.
Nice to see how excited you guys were to see that.
Absolutely stunning. Wonderful waters. Underwater so cool. Loved the walk on most northern point on Native land.

Massive trees. Such a beautiful park. It is neat to sea underwater, too. Thanks so much for great video in God’s great creation. I love being outside, feels like I am there when I watch your videos.
Awesome video!
Beautiful footage of the HOH, fantastic underwater footage 😊
Thank you!!
Absolutely Stunning
The PNW is absolutely beautiful. Beautiful footage of your time. Olympic is beautiful. It's always impressive how Rainer domaintes the horizon 😊
Boys this is ty me and Zelda are loving these vidyas! You were deep in bigfoot country. Have any bigfoot sign? (Structures, howls, stinkyness, tree snapping?) We appreciate the birds you get on film. I noticed down in Texas on the border when you guys were on the river mom spotted a Mexican Jay! I noticed it had crossed our border so even the Mexican birds want to cross the border. Wet wings! Love what you boys are doing us fattys and old can't hike any further than to the ice cream truck when it stops in front of the house and in this heat that's even a challenge! Thanks for sharing the world with us boys!
He loves it. And he loves it, and sure she loved it. I love it. Beautiful rain forest. Greatest waters rushing over rocks and logs. I have ridden the ferries up there which are cool. Rich colors. Great music 🎶 Surprised y’all came back 😂🤣🥰 Glad y’all could go.
Mesmerizing!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
You have a nice crew there. What an experience for the kids at such an early age... BTW what is the name of the artist performing the great music? Happy trails
I was a boy growing up in the 50s and my family drove down to Bennett Springs for a week ever spring. Great memories.
Natural tunnel, or as they are more commonly known as in the Ozarks, a cave.
I remember before it became a National Park in 1964. At first I didn’t like it because of all the rules. With the abandonment of the farms, the water became more clean visibly. The only thing that has changed is the amount of canoes, but all need to experience the length of these rivers! The National Park Service does an EXCELLENT JOB taking care of it!
Such beautiful country. Thanks for showing us so much great footage.
What a beautiful park. And spring is so wonderful with all the flowers.
Saw your Voyageurs video, visited the channel and saw all the other parks you've uploaded. Now on a binge, watching your videos oldest to newest. Subbed!
Bruh, the chillest Voyageurs NP vid to exist on yt
When I was a kid I hiked the Spring trail and counted 17 Cottonmouth needles to say I did not do it again
I first saw Big Spring about 60 years ago and at that time there were no concrete or stone sidewalks, picnic tables, etc. The spring itself used to shoot out of the side of the rock wall more like a fire hydrant, I see now it comes up from the floor of the pool. Those cave like structures were where the spring used to spray out from. Big changes in how the spring flows in the last 60 years.
Thank you for this!! I would have never known. That's so interesting!
The 'Powder Mill' Ferry used to be the only way to cross the Current River just above Blue Spring. I think the actual Powder Mill was torn down years ago.
It's already a National Park, they have just called it a National Scenic River system consisting of Current River, Jack's Fork River, 11 Point River, etc.
Map please……
Here is the NPS map on their site. You can switch to Brochure Map in the top left corner and it is useful as well. www.nps.gov/ozar/planyourvisit/maps.htm
I live not far from Yellowstone, I have no clue how many times I have been there. For the past years the Lamar Valley is my go to place..
