Everything about the bike is good except the controller holder, my controller holder got broken within 1 month
Do you have to charge the display separately? Mine doesn’t want to go on anymore 😮
Do you think when you install a bottle holder just like you did, it drags the bike a lot the bike with the wind? Or it is an insignificant difference. I travel on the asphalt with many cars passing by, so I am a bit worried about the wind resistance.
I just picked up a used 21' Talon E+ 3 29er for my 70 year old father. I think it should be a GREAT bike for him! Word to the wise - it's probably worth getting the manufacturer's app and investigating the bike more before proceeding with purchase (or have the current owner send it to you.) Reason I say this - is the used Talon E+ I just bought supposedly had "250 miles to school and back" allegedly according to the seller. She was the mother of the owner, and it has been several years since purchase so I'll give her that .. Pull up the app however when I got home, and the data shows the bike has been ridden 1100 miles! Quite a bit of difference which would have certainly affected the final sale price. Always do your homework!
@@sd5458 That is GREAT advice! Thank you for sharing! Hope your father gets much enjoyment from the bike. Thanks for watching.
You know a vlog is supposed to be videos! Word to the the wise take videos of the bad stuff too That way people see the areas that wouldn't be so attractive.
Hey, thanks for watching! I am confused though because this entire video is nothing but video. And in case you’ve never driven them, the back roads of Florida are all beautiful, so there was no bad stuff. You should check ‘em out! Thanks again for watching!
Thos is an Awesome bike but I'd definitely switch the saddle.
@@Kevin-vc9nw Indeed, not all saddles are created equally. The right saddle can make or break your ride and comfort! Thanks for watching.
I ride my bike everyday to work, to camping, bikepacking, grocery. :) best bike ever!
@@JSolisHD Awesome! Yes! Ride on, friend! Thanks for watching.
1 x is my fave. Keep it simple.
@@jamesgretsch4894 Yes! I agree. I’m a big fan of 1x and simplicity. Thanks for watching.
I can't understand your accent Troy. Are you British? I'm from LA and British accents are hard to understand.
@@jamesgretsch4894 LOL 😂!! That’s funny! I’m actually from Texas and we have a pretty distinct accent. So, I completely understand if you can’t understanding what I’m saying. But thanks for watching. I do appreciate it.
Are you two in Milton? I'm in FWB! I've a Pedego e-bike and have done your Blackwater Heritage trail twice lately. Again, love your videos, you two are real people, like me! Thanks!
Hi friend! Yes! We are in Milton. Thank you for your kind words and sharing a little of your story. Like you, we ride the BWT frequently. Hopefully, we’ll see you out there one day! Thanks for watching.
Great video, again. I'm planning on the St Mark's trail this month, Oct 2024, and the information you've provided is priceless. Thank you. Dave of NW Florida.
Dave, you can’t go wrong with the St Marks Trail. It is a real joy to ride. Hope you have a great time! Thank you for watching our videos.
Very good. I'll be headed to Gulf State Park soon all because you two introduced me to it. Good informative video, I'll watch many more of yours. Dave of NW Florida.
So glad we could be helpful! 😎 We know you’ll love those trails - and they’re so close! Thanks for your comments. Hope to meet you in person sometime soon. Ride on!
@Freestlyle Enduro 101 Warm greetings from Australia. In a few weeks I'll probably be purchasing the 2023 Giant Talon E+ 1. I'll need some kind of kickstand for it. It's hard to make out what kickstand you have, is it a Giant kickstand? Can you provide the name of it please?
@@p3tr0114 Hello! Yes, it’s a Giant kickstand. The only name I know of is “direct mount, adjustable” Our local dealer put it on before I took the bike out to review. Hope that helps!
Troy, I don't believe we've met but we live in the same area. I'm very involved and have been in our local MTB scene and PORC for many years... Jeez, I've been riding our local trails since 1997 actually. Anyhow, I rented one of these bikes while up in Maine and used it to ride the carriage roads in Acadia National Park. Like you, I fell in love with the bike from that first ride and have had my eyes on getting one ever since. I just purchased this exact one which I plan to swap out to a barely used Apex 1 groupset that I have another bike. I found your video very helpful and informative, it was a great way to see the bike before making the purchase! Great vid and keep up the good work!
@@galencounselman3305 Since 1997!? That’s awesome! I love to hear personal stories like yours. Thanks so much for sharing and I really appreciate the encouragement. Hopefully, we’ll get a chance to meet one day. Enjoy the ride, friend!
Great video as always! It’s amazing how these e-bikes don’t look bulky any longer. What a comfortable way to cruise around and enjoy the scenery. Speaking of scenery, we are heading over to bike Gulf State Park this morning to enjoy the mild weather we’re having in the NW Florida area. Informative detailed review. Thanks! John and Kim E.

Isn't there black towns buried under lake Martin. These people fronting. Somebody share the history behind lake Martin. It's a wet graveyard
As with any dam built anywhere in the world, the residents (of all races) must relocate before they flood the area. If the town included a graveyard, then they’re now all underwater. Sad but true realities of building dams. Thanks for watching!
I have a Momentum E+ which is made by Giant and is pretty much the same thing. They are pretty good 👍
Giant Momentum E+ ? I will have to check that out! Thanks so much for watching!
You guys are amazing! I have done some big rides in the past and I am about to embark on some epic new solo handcycling adventures at 57. I wonder if you would be so kind as to give me some advice on how to build subscribers on youtube. Thanks for sharing your adventures. Cheers from downunder.
Thanks so much friend! The best advice we can give you is just keep it real and keep making videos! Be youself and have fun, because people like that. Hope you have some great adventures!
@@TroyandAndrea Thank you
Thank you for the video. My dealer hasn't reset the distance since last service - can I do that myself?
Hi! Well, that’s a really good question! I checked the Giant manual and didn’t find anything obvious (it may be in there and I just didn’t see it). In fact, everything I found said “Contact your lical dealer.” Maybe you can get your dealer to explain it to you so you can do it yourself? Sorry I couldn’t be a better help.
Thanks for the encouragement to get my behind back on my bike! It's been far too long for me. I think I saw part of this trail from going to the Island with my brother who lives in TN, but I didn't know that it was as extensive. Looks like something I need to explore!
Hi Emily! It’s a fun and easy ride, perfect to get back out there if it’s been a while. Thanks for watching and commenting! We appreciate your encouragement too.
Good to see you guys are back at it. Thanks for sharing Ryan & Beth
Thank you! We are hoping for some good rides now that things are cooling off. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Looks like a fun trail. That it’s lighted at night is a great idea. 🚲♥️🚲
I wish we could have made it back at night to see it lit and also see the show fountain.
Next time! 😊
ya'll need to come ride the Tanglefoot trail in N Mississippi. ya"ll enjoyed the longleaf you will really enjoy the Tanglefoot it runs from Houston Ms to New Albany Ms about 43 miles one way Be sure to check out the lil store named Sugary"s at the end of the trail in Nee Albany

Awww… thank you! We really appreciate your support!
Does the app show how much life is left on the battery before it needs replaced looking at a used giant talon that’s a year old and 450 miles on it
Great question! I don’t remember seeing a battery health indicator anywhere within the app. You might call your local dealer or Giant customer support to see if there’s a way to check battery health. Thanks for watching.
Yes it does. My bike is on 1600km (1000m) an it show 97% battery health.
@@TroyandAndrea thanks

🚴♀🚴♀🚴♀ Ride On !!!!!
Thanks so much for watching!
Indeed, very comfortable bike for all ages, though expensive yet great value for the spend.
Totally agree! Thanks so much for watching!
Great controller. Crap, brittle, not fit for purpose bracket which mounts the controller onto the handlebar, which will snap and break at the first opportunity. The app is at best hit and miss. What works, work what doesn’t work, doesn’t!
@@JohnChristopher-k7u Yeah, I broke one on a different model bike. Bummer. There are a few different mounting brackets, so it depends which one is more breakable. But, the dealer had it fixed asap, so that was good. The app has a long history of version updates, so it might depend on an update … but apps are never perfect. Thanks for your comments.
@@TroyandAndrea “Different mounting brackets”? That’s news to me. In the time I’ve had my 2019 Giant Fathom E+ 3 29er, I’ve destroyed 4 brackets, two of them out of warranty. I’ve now ended up doing a gorilla fix, using a spare bit of inner tube and a couple of zip ties to secure my controller to my handlebar. It’s far from ideal but it’s better than returning my bike to the shop every three months and spending another £100 on something that shouldn’t have snapped in the first place.
@@JohnChristopher-k7u Yes, a few other model bikes had a little different bracket. But I agree, it shouldn’t have snapped in the first place - definitely an area to improve design.
What size frame is that?
@@goldiehonduh Hi! It’s a size small. Thanks for watching!
Rivnut size?
@@mickeyvicente8629 I used an M5 rivnut. Thanks for watching!
I'm looking into be in a e-bike camper bikepacking. I have hydraulic brakes too. 4:48 sounds like the cable problem would be the same for nearly every one. I see a lot of 20-35$ options on amazon and Temu for 12-15 L handlebar bag setups. Any thoughts ?
@@frankenstein3163 The prices for decent handlebar bag setups have come down considerably, so a good one is more affordable now. You can probably find a workable one on Amazon. I would check the reviews to help you make a decision. Thanks so much for watching. Have fun out there!
No power. Need power upgrade.
Okay, but as I have stated many times, it all depends on one's budget, ability, and availability of inventory. I agree that more power is great for a more skilled rider (I like more power myself), but this bike still has its rightful place in the market - like for those who don't need or want as much power (such people do exist!) Thanks for watching!
Great review. May I ask if the stock teravail tires are also tubeless ready? Thanks in advance
Hey there! YES! They are tubules ready! Here is a link for a little more info on the tires - thanks for watching! aroundthecycle.com/products/new-teravail-washburn-tire-700-x-38-tubeless-folding-tan-durable?srsltid=AfmBOooBZi0UmO-Bu7OoPETgeJdftqq04vRmSK8hzW1dCdO9_gvHpUSG

Glad I could help! Thanks for watching.
why can they not make this bike with higher gears like a three by front crank for hills

BS. $200-300 cradles? What planet did you get that information. High end is $150.
@@markroberts6971 Not so smarty Joe. When this video was made, EVERYTHING for bikes was a LOT more expensive!
