two strips of bicycle tube one either side of the spigot never fails to loosen the rod
I'll remember for next time 🤣. Thanks for watching 👍
Can you show how you set up the floating devon
Hi thanks for watching. If you look at the video, 3 in a day. I'm sure it's either on that or definitely one of the last three I showed, the set up and how to fish it.
Excellent and really enjoyed thanks. Never tried the floating devon but you've made me want to give a try. In your opinion is it effective for Spring fish? Tks
HI thanks for watching. It's a really effective method normally from July onwards on my opinion. If you have spring fiah sitting holding in a pool then yes but generally spring fish run through most places so
Thanks for watching. I'd say it's effective when you've fish holding in a pool. I find it effective on the lower Tay from July onwards. Most of the spring fish will generally be running through and I think you'd be fishing below them. I prefer a metal devin in the spring as you can fish it in the middle and just below in the water column
@@scottishoutdoorlife thanks 🙏
what spinning rod are you using ?
Hi, thanks for watching I'm using a 10ft Diawa Whisker. Great rod, would recommend it 👌
@@scottishoutdoorlife Cheers
Use a net your damaging the fish draged in like that
I respect your opinion but I believe it makes no difference. I use one where possible but when wading deep and in fast water they become dangerous because they send you off balance or drag the water. Thanks for watching
Awesome video 👍👊
Thanks for watching 👍
Well done nice clean fish 🐟 🎣😊
Thanks for watching again 👍
Nice fish Ian by we got 20 mm of rain not enough to make the drive to the highlands worth it to check the rivers.Getting ready for partridge season on the first then ducks on the 6th then finally geese on the 16th .No deer hunt for me this year the dog only got a few yrs left retrieving so i'm puttin my time into him till he's retired plus i'm the only one in the house that eats deer lol,,,
Thanks Billy, that's a pity on the water. I get more enjoyment out of working the dogs to thanks shooting now. Good luck 👍
Nice fish again good big trout
It was James, decent trout for here. I dare say there's bigger but their not keen on much. Thanks again for watching 👍
You didn't forget your net this time... Lovely to see so much success off the Tay this year.
Yes definitely a better year. Slowed down a little with that warmer spell but should pick up again next week when it gets colder. Thanks for watching again 👍
Another great video Iain. Always enjoyed fishing the floating devon, as long as its a good bottom and not too snaggy. Some of the takes on it were brilliant! Also a lot easier on the arms than a flying C! Tight lines 😊
Thanks for watching again. Definitely easier on the arms and the back. It seems to be my back that's gets it now.
Where abouts is this mate?
Hi, it's Walkmill beat on the River Tay. Thanks for watching 👍
Well done iain, definitely water condition whether spin or fly 🍻
Thanks, especially on the Tay as big as it is down there. Great afternoon, thanks for watching again 👍
Iain what a fantastic day you have had and another excellent video. Your knowledge of the river is exceptional. Great to see a Silver one. There must be another Silver one waiting for you. Tight lines from AUS
Thanks for watching again. It was a great day. Hopefully a few more days like that to be had before the season finishes 👍
Another great video Iain, well said about spinning/fly it's all about fishing to the conditions which is what sets you apart from 99% of other youtubers, they refuse to pick up a spinning rod as if they'll catch leprosy from it and it's shown in how few fish they catch compared to you.
Thanks, we definitely need to fish to the conditions. It's about catching fish for me. 🤣 yeah some don't seem keen to pick one up.
Well done Iain nice to see there’s one or two fresh fish 🐟 about 🎣🎣
Hi, yes, hopefully they keep coming. They seem to have slowed now though.
Brilliant, another great day
Thanks, another great day. We should have enough fish in the system to keep us going until the end of the season with reasonable catches.
Great afternoon Ian,good stuff!
Thanks, yes hopefully one or two more before the end of the season.
Thanks for another excellent video Iain. Looked like a very enjoyable afternoon’s fishing, well done
Thanks Andrew, yes it was great to be out again and the fish were playing ball too.
Well fished, an afternoon well spent. All about fishing the conditions and knowing the water, spinning will never be as rewarding as the fly but on a river of that size it gets the results. Haven’t seen that set up for spinning before looks very affective. All we need now is somebody to design a net that you can carry on your back and release one handed!! Does such a thing exist?? Tight lines👍 enjoyed seeing your new companion, she looks like great fun!!
@paulwatson2712 thanks, yes you have to fish to the conditions, especially on a river of that size. I think you can get a net that flips out but for trout. She's going to be a great dog, just having an issue with her retrieving. She keeps dropping the dummy or other things before she gets back to me. It's like she loses interest in it. Just needs a bit more work that's all. Thanks for watching again 👍
Great video you get your fair share well done 👏
Thabks for watching. Yes having a decent season. Nice as last year wasn't the best, worked too much.
Nice fishin we still got no rain of any amount ya can walk across most of the rivers its bad here...We switched to sea bass for something to do its not the same lol
At least you got a cast at something Billy. Hopefully comes soon for you. 👍
Nice one definitely on a roll the now
Hi James, yes thankfully managed one or two this year. , hopefully time for few more yet.
🤞
Nice what rod and reel have ya ?
Hi, thanks for watching, it's a 15ft Bruce and Walker Norway with a bloke salmon reel.
Nice one, always enjoy your videos 😉👍
Thanks, glad you enjoy them 👍
Well done Iain.
Thanks, nice to be out again 👍
Out of curiosity, what is the lure you are using?? I find a black and gold flying c is very effective for me , but trying to get them in 24 grams is impossible! Love the videos as always, tight lines for when you next go out 🎣🎣
Hi, it's a 30g black flying c, silver blade, yellow inside of the rubber and a fluro yellow bead. Thanks for watching again and commenting 👍
Well done ,with dodgy wading great fish
Thanks, it was a cracker. Yes, it's a bit of dodgy wading, but those are the ones worth doing it for. Thanks for watching 👍
Hi can I ask what you do for work .would love to be able to do a job that I could also fish in-between .6-6 not for me anymore .so done mean to be nosey .
Hi, of course. I sell solar and battery systems to residential properties. I often leave the house at 8am and don't get home until 10pm. Somedays I might not start until 3pm so this allows me time in the morning or evening etc. Some appointments reschedule but it's all short notice
Nice big chap, your having a good year, signs on the river looking better?
Hi, yes definitely better this year. There's enough fish in the system to keep us going for the next 5 weeks I'd say. Some good sport still to be had if I can get out. Thanks for watching again 👍
Thanks for another excellent video Iain. Removing big trebles from lively fish is never the easiest thing to do as I’ve found out to my cost on occasions. Excellent couple of hours for you though, very enjoyable
Thanks Andrew, thankfully my fingers are still intact 🤣 Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching again 👍
Another cancelled appointment when the river is ‘hoochin’…anybody else noticing a pattern here 😂 NB cheap reels don’t last…
Certainly is a pattern 🤣 cheap reels are binned for a couple of decent ones, hope they last. Thanks for watching again 👍
Nice fish again Ian by and we got very little rain with a month and a half left in our season.
It'll come Bily then you'll have a bonanza. Thanks 👍
Another good hour out there on the river , catching a Salmon is always a bonus🎣👏👏
Always is David. Nice to get one or two for the effort. Thanks for watching 👍
Nice ones again on a roll the now.
Thanks James, yes getting one or two now. Thanks for watching again 👍
Better than the tv😊
Cheers 👍
Cracking fish mate , is that the Diawa whisker spinning rod ?
Hi, thanks yes it is. Very powerful rod. Wouldn't go past it. Thanks for watching 👍
I've just bought the 9ft 15/50 version , yep beautiful rod
@benhyde1593 yeah I've the 10ft, great rod
What type of reel is it you have like the sound of the drag on it
Hi, that was a Shimano Sahara with a double handle. To be honest, it's disintegrated. I've just changed to a Daiwa Bg 4000. Nice reel. Feels a bit more robust, sound OK too. Keep an eye out in a couple of videos time, I caught one on it and you should be able to hear it. Thanks for watching 👍
Brilliant cheers will be watching out
@@scottishoutdoorlife ive had that daiwa bg4000 reel for 4 years now ,a solid reel not let me down yet
Would the appointment have been cancelled if the river wasn’t hoochin with fish I wander…just sayin!!😂
Probably not 🤣 glad it was, got that cracker because of it 👍
Good fishin mate, stayed in Stanley on way up to The Hebrides and Pitlochry on way back, river looked big and angry!!
Yes, she's a big river. Hope your trip was productive. Thanks again for watching 👍
Superb Roan. You've taught him well. He will never forget the first on the fly now.
Thanks Toby, he'll never forget that one. Thanks for watching again 👍
That 16lb hen was a belter you had one very similar not long ago well proportioned tish well done
Hi, yes the 18lber, it was very similar in proportion. Both great fish. Thanks again for watching 👍
Great stuff that's what dreams are made of Roan. Great coach!! A good start in life on the river.😂
Hopefully creating good memories for later in life. Thanks for watching 👍
Beautiful fish!
Thanks for watching 👍
A nice hours fishing, a lot of water racing by you, would scare me now trying to stay upright. Beautiful 🎣 fish 👏👏
Scared me too sometimes 🤣 thanks for watching 👍
Oh what a fish. Build like a tank
It certainly was, one of my favourites this year. Thanks for watching again 👍
Wow, lovely fish!
She was, thanks for watching 👍
That's a cracker fish - must be happy with going for that trip 🙂
Enjoyed watching , keep it up 👌
Thabks, glad you enjoyed it 👍
Go on pal, great to watch. Chucking out a nice line there. Bonnie fish.
