Get to the point. An intro is fine, but I came to this video because I expected to fnd out what the worst episode is, but after over 6 and a half minute of you going on and on about what isn't funny and not revealing what episode you're talking about, I decided to post this comment, give your video a "dislike" and stop watching the rest of your video.

Cartoons often do the President endgame too. You said the Simpsons, but also Mandy from Billy and Mandy, and Gwen from Ben 10

What a terrible take about Malcolm. Malcolm becomes the leader everywhere where he goes whether it’s with the krelboynes or hatching a scheme with Reese and dewey. He would became a great president which is the whole point of the show. You wanting Malcolm to take some lousy job to support his family or that’s beneath him then go watch shameless (US) and see Lip destroy his potential to become a mechanic. It’s not satisfying or enjoyable. Horrible take by you especially your reasons like this episode came out during the bush era. Tried too hard to be a wanker and it made your video fall flat

Yet another video that basically proves Lois was fucked up for costing Malcolm that tech job. Absolutely spot on about the chances of Malcolm becoming president being slim at best, and even if he did get it he'd be resentful. My one gripe with that show was how it ended so unfairly for Malcolm but I came to forgive it once I understood that was the point.

I love Malcolm in the Middle content. Currently rebinging it for the fifth time. Thank you for your insight, KC!

I hated the finale. The entire last season took an odd turn tbh but the idea that Lois prevented malcolm from getting the job that he wants so he can get the job she wants him to have so he could improve her life really made me dislike her character. He's never wanted to be president, he has horrible people skills, he struggles to maintain friendships and not shouting at people stresses him out so much he gets a pancreatic ulcer and almost dies. The way Malcolm couldve helped his family was through earning a 6 figure salary because you know who does have leadership and showmanship qualities? Dewey, who is also gifted but is shown consistently looking out for the little guy.

What I took away from the finale is that Lois is a terrible person and utterly delusional, attempting to force her intelligent son to fix all of her problems for her, and dragging everyone else into her delusion

The Grotto's storyline was tragically cut short because of Otto's actor health, and I guess the writing team was blindsided by that series of events because they really couldn't figure much to do with Francis afterwards.

Yes. The Simpsons has a lot of terrible episodes over the years. I think truly the worst ever episode of The Simpsons was Boys of Bummer. It was a horrible episode. Bart is evil. Yes. But, in that episode he did not deserve what happened to him. Poor Bart loses a baseball game and everyone in Springfield cruelly mocks him and be nasty towards him driving him to a attempted suicide. The episode was a depiction of child cruelty. Ridicule. Depression and suicide attempt. Everyone in Springfield took Bart losing the baseball game too seriously and they all go and be nasty to him. Unfunny and mean spirited.

I think the problem with dissecting comedy is the same problem that comes from compairing Simpsons to Family Guy or any other other comedic thing, or even stand up comics. Comedy is selective. What one person finds funny, another person doesn't. As somebody who loves both shows, I personally found the Family Guy version funnier because it's stupid comedy. Which again depends on how each person analyzes a joke. For me it's a dumb joke and while it's also a reference to another joke, the writers know it's a dumb joke and that's exactly what it's supposed to be, a dumb joke. Personally I can enjoy a dumb joke if it's played as a dumb joke, which the owl joke is. It's a dumb, stupid joke. However and here's where I come back to how people's sense of humor differs, I do not find The Simpsons joke funny in comparison, because of Skinner's punchline. While it is certainly in character for his character, the way he explains the joke, at least to me is him also explaining to the audience why the joke is funny, but I'm smart enough to know why the joke was funny, I don't need you telling me why it is, but again that's just me. Family Guy's version doesn't explain why the joke is supposed to be funny, it just does it and assumes you know why it's meant to be funny. Now if you find it actually funny or not is another matter entirely but they don't at the end have the character say "Oh it's because the owl goes who and he's saying who but the name of the character is who too" like the Simpsons joke does. If it did I wouldn't find that joke funny either, but again, like I said that's something that differs person to person. However I do think The Simpsons executes their references better than Family Guy more often than not. Especially back in it's Golden Age and it comes back to something that South Park actually did a joke on about Family Guy in how all their jokes relate to the narrative of the show. For me Family Guy's best reference and cutaway jokes come from when a character at least sets up the joke with a "This reminds me of the time...." insert reference cutaway joke here. It's not much but it's better than just cutting from whatever the actual narrative story of the episode was to a random cutaway gag that it feels like they've done just for the sake of doing it. The thing with Family Guy is that the writers write a lot of dumb, stupid jokes but they're not written as great jokes that end up unintentionally being dumb and stupid jokes. They are written that way intentionally and that's how they're meant to be taken. At which point you either like them or you don't and in the case of the owl joke, that's exactly what it is.

My favorite full episodes from this era are 1, 3, 4, and 8. 2 just isn't scary at all, and I love all three segments from 5, but hate the outro.

Thought I’d add some positively to this comments section. I’ve watched a lot of your newer Simpsons/Family Guy videos and really liked them, that’s why I’m watching this. This is very disorganised stretched out video but you have definitely improved a lot since making this.

I found the whole "jumpscare!" thing suuper annoying and played out in the Monty Burns segment of THOH 35. I'm surprised that wasn't mentioned haha. I was a bit underwhelmed with the newest Treehouse which is a bummer because the last few ones have been pretty solid. Not perfect, but solid.

I wish into the Homereverse was its own episode I would have to have seen one of the universes drawn in that Mexicana artstyle in the most recent Halloween specials intro

fun fact: The simpson comics already did a death note parody years ago, full on in manga style, though this time Bart was the one using it with Krusty as his Shinigami. Though have to say, other than the futurama crossover (which the comcis did way better), in this case both versions are pretty good. also the comcis did a pacific rim parody as well, though not sure if it was a halloween or super hero special or something else, but it was also with bart and Lisa having to work together

21:35 Disney had bought The Simpsons by that point and there was a change in producers in the seasons made after the purchase, Matt Selman became the new head of the show and the seasons under him have revived the show giving us many good episodes or unique takes on characters.

Skinner fucking up the who's on first joke is perfect. It's so in character. Interestingly, the characters is what makes the original who's on first joke so good. The joke itself is very stupid and not funny, but the quick back and forth is so perfectly timed that you can't help but laugh. It's the interaction between the characters that makes it work, and that's what the simpsons got right.
