I'm a millennial living in central Virginia. I bought my house in 2019 and have been DIYing it to be a little bit better every day. I'm still learning but not afraid to fail. I hope that you watch my videos and get the confidence to go out and to do some DIY also, no matter how small.
Installing outdoor pathway lighting in the front of my house (actually easy)
In this video, I'll be installing lights in the front of my house. In a previous video, I installed them in the backyard patio and I'm using the same wire to bring it to the front of the house.
Previous video: ua-cam.com/video/O8IVyCRBjgk/v-deo.html
I actually really liked the way the lights turned out and I'm glad I was able to pick up these spotlights on clearance at Lowe's. Definitely lights up my house a lot more.
Products I used:
• Outdoor Lights: amzn.to/3rzzNuS
• Portfolio 120-Watt Transformer: amzn.to/32XaRSQ
• 16/2 Low Voltage Landscape Wire: amzn.to/3pF5zFj
• Outdoor wire connectors: amzn.to/38UpOZz

Renovating my Basement Room | Wall Repair, Caulk, Paint
Переглядів 1792 роки тому
Hey y'all, in this video I'll be renovating my basement room (which I think is technically called a recreation room). When we toured the house for the first time, we were really surprised by how much space this room had and were really excited to move in but in reality, we ended up using a lot of this space for storage while we figured out other things, namely our wedding. We were strapped for ...

This is the original pegboard I based this build on: kreisdesign.com/products/pegboard-room-divider-folding-screen. Definitely did not mean any disrespect to the original creator but the idea of having it shipped over seas when I could have done it locally was the main point for me! How do you think I decorated the room? Should I add any other decor? Are the plants (monsteras and pothos) too mu...

DIY | How to make a dolly for your cat's litter box
Переглядів 4713 роки тому
Kind of a random build but today's video, I'm building a dolly for my cat's litter box! It's just some scrap birch plywood that I had lying around. I did this project because I am planning to build a cabinet on the side of my washer/dryer and the litter box would be hidden in the cabinet. The dolly would make it easier for me to slide the box in and out rather than reaching in and grabbing it. ...
DIY | Renovating my mudroom pt. 3 | Paint, laminate plank flooring, trim, etc!

Hey guys, check out ALL this progress that has been made since the last video. I painted the walls "Agreeable Gray" (Shermin Williams) and the ceilings "The Perfect White" (Valspar). The flooring is AquaGuard's Mystic Oak and it's a super simple tongue-and-groove system that just clicks together with some tapping. The trim was quick to install also but really ties the bow on this room. Next up,...

Very hard work but you did it very well going so slow with the polyurethane vsrnish. Actually your orbital sander is well much better for beginners as the straight sanders can tare at pine or any wood so it's much better to fo that keeping the sanding pad moving lightly over the wood. I'm a violin maker, my grandad was a joiner, or carpenter, a master carpenter. And Grand Order Of Clock makers. They used to use Button polish or Shellac, to laquer their eork. Marquetry and Parquetry for inserting veneers into the top wood. I've just wombled a tall boy from a Skip😂 It's so Coochum. This looks a bit narled the edges are not as sharp as you could have got them but its very very good, the colour is giving that top a much more expensive look and the legs are well painted or spray painted. You can use noggins for the little nails. Look up noggins, they are done by using a drill with a circular bit to whittle or whirl a small circle into the top around the pesky nail, then use a round dowel of wood from a round well peice of wood. Then wood glue it in to fit before the colour and varnish on. They look really nice instead of wood filler. They only have to be little in depth 5 mms. Fiddly but voochee at the end result. Posher ❤❤❤
Great vid!
Wow that looks awesome. I'm doing the same thing to a dining room table. The cost may be more but it's satisfying!
You should've done some research on processes that you were doing.
circular motions with sanding on wood is a big No no .. always go with the grain
If you're installing new outlets, trust me go with Leviton Decora Edge! No more messing with silly screws, no exposed bare wire, AMAZING!! I will never go back to these lame old-school outlets and fumbling with bending little J hooks around screws again!! I confirmed with Leviton they are code compliant; while they may look similar to the old "backstab", they are NOT backstab and are 100% safe and up to code. These things are amazing. I used them on my entire condo reno, and you can buy them in a 10 pack tamper-resistance (future proof your home and safer for kids, so they don't stick a fork into the wall, etc.): Leviton E5325-MW Decora Edge 15 Amp Tamper-Resistant Duplex Wall Outlet, 10 Count (Pack of 1) - White I will NEVER go back to making J hooks again!!
do incude details of the product like Wattage, size etc
We have similar products on sale, welcome to have a look ❤
amazing $160 table
Amazing repurpose!!
I have my table stripped off for long time, looking for a good video to help with my project, and I really love your video, what is the name or brand of the last product did you use?
It looks bigger than 100!! Nice space. Perfect actually. If i owned a big home (again, 3500 sq ft)I bet i just live in one small area only anyhow. My apartment is abouy 250 ish. Lol Waste of money. And. I have subsidized rent! My rent is only 30% of my income. :)
I found your video because I wanted to do the same thing. Have you looked at Alton Brown that he made with a couple of two liter bottles?
Just think of the cost, as inflation. Plus all the memories that come with it, is priceless 🎉
It was made with love that is priceless ❤, do not compare
Hi! Thank you for very useful video and great tips. I tried to do something similar, but something went a bit off, so I’m kindly asking you for an advice: I have a wooden IKEA table. Its top made of several wooden blocks, so it’s not a single sheet of wood. I dyed it using water-based dye, and covered it with the first coat of polyurethane lacquer. The thing is that after applying the first coat I can see that the surface gone patchy - some wooden blocks are glossy and smooth, and some - dull and a bit rough to the touch, where the wood absorbed the lacquer. I was going to use fine sandpaper to even the surface after the first coat of lacquer. But now I’m a bit confused as I don’t know if I could damage the dye layer on the dull patches and expose the wood, as it is obviously very thin. What would you suggest to do in this case? I was going to do at least three coats of lacquer with sanding in between.
What a loser
I never understood the appeal of the titty lights anyways.
Very helpful. Pilot hole guide is a great tip. I’m using black guide wire for my project.
Replace light ❌ Cut top of the door ✅
Can't put a price on memories.
Way more of a pain in the ass than screwing in a light bulb
Now it’s worth more. You did great bro and thanks for the tips
What happens when it goes out? You have to replace the entire thing? Because that’s what I’m experiencing rn. They came with the house
They tend to last for 7+ years of continuous use, at least. Mine cost 50 bucks for 2, lasted 7 years in my bathroom, only one of them went out, but going to replace both regardless
The way how you did it with the first couple bulbs when you put them on really close and spread them out like a shower curtain but it’s the shower curtain hooks 🪝💡🔌🪫🔋🔦⚙️
Yep , Citristrip is a nightmare. I had to do two coats with an hour in between or so and scrape for days to get off all the gunk it left that will gum up your sander as you found out. Then wipe down good with mineral spirits! I'd do a good carbide scraper and then orbit sander next time or at least try a better stripper than Citristrip which barely took off the poly and stain coat.
WTH? This is exactly what I was looking for. Your video was the first in my search. I'm sharing this with everyone I know. Awesome tute and demo. You rock. Thanks!
did you turn off the circuit breaker?
Bro looks like he was dealing with live wire
How long does.it take you ?
Looks great! You should have shown the lights at night.
Hot wife
Beautiful and Honest video. Very Helpful Brother.
I an a beginner too your table looks great. Can you let me know what color of stain you used ?.Love that color thank you
Hello, Evey here. We're delighted to see your positive response to our video. We'd like to extend an invitation for you to experience our new release, the Matter smart RGBWW downlight. Would you be interested in reviewing it?
No ground wire, no thanks 😂😂
You cant put a price on memories. Or having a happy wife. For a first time using poly and stain i would say you did pretty good. That was a complete table restoration. Also like others have said if the finish/shine is already gone, you could of skipped the stripping part. Also sand with the grain. Other than that GREAT job.
7:29 Either way? You are on your way to many more scratches. Decades pass in the blink of an eye. Cheers! 🍻
2:30 🕝 Too funny 😂 out village clerk had parents that outlived her by 40 years and she was in her late 60s. She told how her Mom and Dad would be asked,”do you have any antiques?!” They both replied in stereo,”no, we wore them out.”
2:04 *GOOP Is definitely correct, I believe it’s the worst stripper I have ever used. I had the greatest pyramid shaped MCM table. Instead of stripping I should have listened to a friend’s advice. Use stripper lightly on the Formica shelves. Lightly sand the wood, and paint it again. Because it had a previous 2nd owner that destroyed the original finish. By using an oil based paint, I could still kick myself. Now, I am watching you. Hoping you find a much better way to remove this table’s marks. My problem is I have a 🐈⬛ and live in an apartment building. So, I don’t have the option of toxic outdoor stripping or finishing. I have no plans of doing the legs or under the top. It’s every bit of 100 years old, with original white non~chipped porcelain casters. The top was used as roughly as your wife’s family. It’s lacquer or shellac, it’s become gummy. I want a nice, shiny, durable surface, that’s easily cleaned. Thanks 😊
Thats a perfect light. You definitely made me want one. Installation looks easy af.
yeah until the integrated led burns out and you have to replace the entire fixture lol
Nope@@jackl7778
So what do you do with the ground wire in a situation like this?
You tuck it up with the rest of the wires.
Also you saved timber that was gonna be thrown out, so saving the environment. $65 was worth a lot more in those days!
You know That’s Right!
I like youtube tutorials that are honest, & reveal everything. After all, we learn from peoples mistakes. So , very well done! Congrsts.
Sandra Cisneros The House on Mango Street, such a great book. Love the room too.
How do light strand connect to the other ??
Festoon lighting
You did a good job
Very beautiful! It was worth.
I've been watching tutorials for an hour trying to get the info I needed. I misplaced the instruction book a month before the install. This video got to the point, showing a user friendly guide to the wires. Thank ya'll so much!!!
So is the just the room 100 sqft?
Great video! Very clear and helpful instructions.
