They will never ban resort fees outright…the states would hate loosing that source of tax revenue since they are a taxable.

Ok Shawn and Mark, give me your best advice. I want to get one single premium credit card that I can maximize travel benefits, lounge access, etc with. Never had one. What would you recommend to someone who wants to get their first card like that. Told my wife the crazy high yearly fee for one of those cards would be my birthday gift in January. 😁

Same when renting a car. I need a car for one day in the first week of February. Advertises $35 went to check out. It was $57 after taxes and fees and all the other crap. Rental cars Airbnb‘s everything need to be priced all inclusive for the number of days that you’re booking it for. No more guessing no more playing games. Merry Christmas

What I hate is with some booking sites they don’t tell you the final price with taxes and everything till the final page and then if you don’t book it they keep pestering you with emails or messages.

Nice one to finish off the year! I wish I'd thought about the "triple dip" before I opened my AmEx Platinum...in January. Favorite trip this year, hands down, was the Princess eclipse cruise (with Panama Canal transit). Just a once-in-a-lifetime event, made some friends on board, and the ship was one of the better ones in the Princess fleet.

Great episode guys. I was spoiled back in the days of SPG way before Marriott bought them. Amazing upgrades and experiences were routine. You are right about technology turning the screws tighter with every year/month/week. Makes me wonder where this is all heading. Keep up the good work.

Your discussion of sick travel comes just after I canceled a weekend trip to use my AmEx FH+R credit (hotel itself was only $230) and low-points flights (booked via Virgin transfer bonus). Came down sick the morning of and had to cancel - essentially lost both the credit and the points (downside of Virgin bookings). On the bright side, I was only out about $45 cash and 18k points. On the downside, I never got more than a scratchy throat and phlegm. The return of Amazon arbitrage 🤦‍♂ There's a reason it died down (although in favor of Chinese factory drop shipping).

I used to be a prime member but since I get Walmart + with my Amex I stopped prime. But especially since I am now traveling a lot I didn’t think prime was worth it.

My worst was decades ago when I was still living in the Midwest. I took a trip to Vegas. The night before I was to fly home I got the 99 cents beer and hotdog and got a stomach virus. It felt like I was going to the toilet every two minutes on the plane.

If you're meeting people to exchange goods you should take along one of those markers that determines if the bill is real so you don't get counterfeit money.

Guys, Sometimes you can come across as spoiled. You have to remember that you are only 1 person. Just because you don’t see the reason why Amazon may do what they do, but there are millions of people that are trying to run scams, sell fake merch, etc. Don’t spend this much time talking about a reseller issue on a points and miles show. Learn how to reset your business and move on.

What do you guys think about using the $200 Amex airline credit for united travel bank ?

The $60 quarterly Hilton benefit is useful if for Hilton regulars, but I'm not one. I just canceled Hilton Biz card and will cancel the Biz Plat when AF comes due. I still have Aspires for Hilton where the credits are more useable.

What’s the name of the restaurant in Rome you go to?

I just got an offer for 165k Hilton points for 3k spend for the Hilton surpass Amex cards. Also has the $200 Hilton statement credits. Any thoughts? Doesn’t sound bad to me, is it better than Marriot?

Venetian just joined Hyatt so it is gonna be awesome to be able to book awards at this hotel with Hyatt points.

I'm with Mark on the Hilton credit, its just a hassle especially combined with the other Hilton cards. It would be more useful if it was $100 biannually, but then they wouldn't get breakage.

In the the last few years I have gone between UA-cam,Hulu, and Fubo. I am currently on Fubo because I got a 3 month discount with my credit card. I usually start during football season and then cancel and travel and then shop around next football season.

Mark hates commercials but essentially that is what he makes money off of. Marketing is the same as commercials.
