I love this format, great interesting and value-add quick thoughts. Keep rambling!
Thank you for your podcast. You mention "bailout terms" should be much higher, like a 3-4 bagger. Could you please let us know when the US Govt made 3-4 times on a bailout?
I ended up asking Chatgpt: The U.S. government made the most money on its bailout of the financial sector during the 2008 financial crisis, particularly from its investment in banks through the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP). The most notable profits came from the government's investment in Citigroup and the American International Group (AIG). Here are some key details: Citigroup: The government invested $45 billion in Citigroup. Over time, the government sold its shares in Citigroup, resulting in a total profit of approximately $12 billion. American International Group (AIG): The government invested $182 billion in AIG. By the time the government had sold its shares in 2012, it had realized a profit of about $22.7 billion. Overall, the TARP program, which included investments in banks, automakers, and other financial institutions, was initially funded with $700 billion. The total amount disbursed was about $431 billion. As of the end of the program, the government had recovered $441.7 billion, resulting in a profit of about $10.5 billion for the entire TARP program.
Enrique was awesome. Stop interrupting guests, Andrew.
PLEASE stop saying, "Right?", at the end of your sentences. Good content, but a terrible vocal crutch. An AI audio editor works great for this. Thanks.
Stop complaineen.
Pipe down lil bro
Love this series, thanks Andrew.
Another great podcast - thank you
Wow. Beard looking fantastic mate! Love the hairstyle as well. Love the fargo look.
Andrew or Marc?
@@MikeFromNZ1 how dare you. Look at the screen & your eyes will flutter toward only one beard.
Great stuff. Why does the host shout down the mic, though? Manic stuff.
Cuz he's a true alpha male. Look at the beard mate.
I think this is one of the most important companies that will secure a deep moat over the next 25 years as long as leadership maintains a good strategic plan. I do see them going into the services route within a decade to cushion margins at the very least. They also brought on the former CSO from google eho was pivotal to revenue growth. So we will see what happens in the next 3 years
Marc is great
Loved The Podcast, waiting for the next one with Matt, I had a question about the 300 price for met coal after the fire, do you think that after the price increase, the stock price of AMR will increase after the earnings call? should I go all in on AMR before then, as the call can only be positive right?
Very useful insight for my MBA dissertation about Emerging Market RE Performance
Great podcast, enjoyed the discussion.
Satisfying to see the beard growing back. Apply come beard cream. Gets it nice thick & lush.
great thank you!
The interruptions make this a good interview instead of a great one. Unfortunate.
Andrew- Luke Gromen has some ideas about liquidity and why things may be different for Fanny/ Freddie this time around
If Cramer is against it, then for sure the deal is going to go through. 😊
Cramer made that statement during the lightning round. 😅
I like this
gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay
Would not have guessed the stock would be up 64% in the 2 months since this....
This is not the best podcast ... the analysis seemed somewhat superficial, the guest seemed unprepared and tentative, and Andrew seemed to have done more homework than his guest. That said, I thought the JBLU-SAVE podcasts were excellent, and yet look what happened. In the JBLU-SAVE case, trusting the long odds the market was placing on the deal closing was the correct answer, rather than the contrarian perspective of many fintweeters. In this case too, the odds the market is placing are very long. I guess we'll find out if the market was right in a few months time. I did choke a bit on the guests's notion that you could successfully sell a judge on the idea that raising prices and restricting supply to wholesale is actually pro-competitive for fashion. Unless the judge has personal experience of of how fashion works, it's not going to fly, especially since the FTC's rationale for blocking this deal is that they want to prevent the market for mid-range handbags from getting monopolized. Since raising prices is almost the canonical definition of how consumer harm is caused, that argument that it is pro-competitive seems like a stretch. It also seems like a mistake to not know more about the leanings of the judge. I also did not hear a credible thesis on why even the GOP commissioners on the FTC voted in favour of suing to block the deal. That seems like a huge red flag to me.
Jim Cramer is a Democrat but not a leftist.
so the pitch at 22:00 is that ripping consumers with veblen goods is actually pro-competitive and that the anti-trust legal framework needs to give deference for consumer psychology, got it
Are you pronouncing Tapestry as "tape-estree"?!?
Ok, I just got to the part of the podcast where you address this. It's pronounced just like the normal word tapestry, like a tapestry hanging on the wall.
I watched the entire show waiting to hear Bills take on Clipper. Hes a NY expert, cmon host.
Why did you shave your beard andrew 😡
Loved this. This is a great podcast.
There's a hiss in the sound. Good interview though.
Bobby 'old economy' Robotti
I think Bob Robotti is a great fitness instructor name. "Rock your body" with Bob Robotti is so catchy.😂
😂
Enjoy hearing Chris’s thoughts, although I’m patiently waiting for the follow-up report on VATE AMPY etc lol
Thesis drift on the way down vs thesis drift on the way up are different animals IMO. Stock prices are reflexive and a rising stock price can serve as a catalyst to create future opportunities for a company that you may not have factored in to begin with. AAPL a great example.. Thesis drift on the way down is more often "this is cheaper therefore lower risk... etc etc."
just came from spotify to tell you I love your ramblings please keep em going
You are confusing franchisee and franchisor in the title and the podcast. Saying franchisee when you mean franchisor. Franchisor is capital light, franchisee is not. Franchisee have to make the food, hire the employees etc.
I can't believe this podcast has still only 8k subscribers.
Loved it.
Keep it going - I love it !
Sometimes I like these more than the podcast
Very good comments - insightful!
keep this series going!
Love these!
😡 Where's the beard Andrew??!!
Keep up the random ramblings Andrew they are really interesting. You made some great points on franchises in this one I hadn't thought about.
Fantastic podcast. Well explained by Yaron.
So we have a company that has their core business declining at 5-7% per year which they use to help up sell their security offerings. They have grown their security offering through richly priced bolt-ons. All the while management pays out 2-3% a year in stock comp. I just don't see where the value is here.
Patrick, this was a great interview. We are pulling for you guys at Prevalon Energy.
Patrick, this was a great interview. We are pulling for you guys at Prevalon Energy.
Well played ,once people realise what you are and know you have taken away from the market it won’t look that great
