HOW TO BUY A GUITAR (FOR SOMEONE ELSE POSSIBLY)
Great video, very interesting and I don’t even play a guitar
Maybe it's a sign you should learn! It hurts though haha
@@richardclarkmoore I actually posted a video but about running. Next step will be to set up my podcast. Thanks for your tips this week.
Personally i can look past something being a signature if its more blank, like how these MTMs without the big seven inlay are pretty plain If you like stability, evertunes work, theyre just really polarizing because a lot of people think it saps the mojo out of the body or whatever That and they dont seem to have a ton of sustain, with the saddles being separate and all
I say “seem” but really mine that ive had for 3+ years doesnt have much sustain 2018 Solar E1.6, mahogany explorer body and set-thru maple neck, yet not much sustain with the evertune
Bridge pickup sounded pretty good. I watched the Steve carpenter video and the sound was all blown out, either it was settings on pc or the pickup boost overdriven too much.
youve never played a furch?
Nope, it’s hard to get your hands on boutique guitar brands in little old New Zealand
lol. clickbait. Yamaha doesn't have a problem. They make great guitars. It's just you have to have a premium product in the line. Such as A5R in this case.
Of course it’s click bait, this is the internet! Thanks for watching ☺️
The RG550 was the hot rod of the late 80s. So pleased they reissued them.
Me too they’re wicked!
JUST GOT ONE red and a maple neck very good guitar
Hell yeah!
The moment people started getting signature les pauls, the les paul stopped being a signature model
great videoooo lets goooo hello from california
LETS GOOOOO
Observing the knob 👏
It be how it be
Cool guitar
Absolutely is
Ive always found scotts guitars way more tasteful
I couldn't tell you what any of his other signature guitars look like, I'll have to take your word for it!
i think he meant his playing
@@aukustikoskinen3912 confirmation needed, I'm not sure
its alright. i just dont feel comfortable spending that much when it cost almost as much as my MIJ AZ
Fair enough, gotta be worthwhile eh
Signature or artist guitars do not bother me, half the time I do not even know who the artist is, is a Rhoads an artist guitar? Thats an artist that I am proud of if it is, thats the exception. Its my favorite guitar and Randy is the goat. I have a polka dot Jackson Rhoads, other than that I do not care whos name is on a guitar
The polka dot is iconic, I can't deny it!
yes, you are stupid. lol
I own a Peavey Tragic I that I basically only use for Slipknot/dropped tuning stuff, and the original VFL active pickups were so good to me that i didnt ever feel the need to swap them out for EMGs...which was rhe original plan as i had purchased that axe for about $110 as new old stock.
That sounds like a wicked cheap guitar man, I love a deal eh haha
I'll be brutally honest: the gold nuances of this guitar are what's keeping me from buying it. It played like a dream and I loved the pick ups but can't stand the overall look. The gold body color is okay on its own, but it would have been better if they went for something simpler with the rest of it. Unicolor gold like the TOD10 did with silver, no pickguard (especially not one that has glitter/pearl in it) and maybe a more white-gold-ish bridge, knobs and tuners instead of "my sisters tacky fake-gold earrings from H&M" color. It looks gaudy, something I'd go on stage with as a hair metal guitarist in the 80s, but not in 2024. I'll probably get the pickups and put them in a prestige or something
This is usually how I feel about gold hardware, but something about this guitar, there's so much gold that the gold seems less gold to me, I dunno haha
got to try one in a guitar center when i was in texas (im canadian we dont have guitar center) funny enough i have a tod10 on the way but i was not dissapointed by the krys10 very well speced for the price also a lot lighter then i thought also very versatile even if u dont like polyphia this is still a great guitar for any genre that is cheaper than most of the AZs for the spec and price
That's hilarious! thanks for proving my point :P
Very interesting riff
Thanks!
Goldmember
If you can't sell them why did you have to get one lent out to you?😉
I didn’t have to, I wanted to! Guitars need love okay? Hahaha
Honestly the only reason I like Tim's guitar more is because his is silver lol But Scott's signature sounds good. Would not be mad at all to get one for free 👀
Tim’s guitar I think is too silver! But it was still a nice gat for sure
I like it. I think it’s way cooler than Tim Henson’s guitar.
I knew there’d be at least one!
True. I don't care.
😂😂😂
Don’t worry brother, just found your channel and knew you weren’t one of those guys. Be proud of what you make because people will like it
Thanks dude, it’s comments like this that keep me going ☺️ I appreciate it!
I think it's just a thing with your shop, because the KRYS10 is often sold out in stores just like the TOD10...
Good to know, maybe it’s a NZ thing?
is the tapping section of ur demo a real song already?
Nah, almost everything I play I just improvise while recording, it’s a nice riff though!
Nice Axe, Great Playing..
Thanks mate!
Hey can please recommend 7 string floy Rose with under 1800 dollars ? Purpose is :- Metal Drop c tunning Shred / riff
Ibanez has an rg for around 700. U can find them on reverb
@WarrenM9 I second this, second hand RG is probably the way to go
love my Japanese AZ (although the frets had some issues at first) but I can't imagine paying so much for a MII guitar.
What were the fret issues? I’m curious
@@richardclarkmoore high 7th fret on the low e and another past the 14th, even after a truss rod adjustment. Didn't pop up until a few months after I had it. Still a great guitar though, feels about as good as my suhrs
Agree 100% I've been playing for 53 years an I agree
Glad to hear it! That’s a lot of experience, keep on playing!
Imagine having enough money or fame to get your dream gear designed the way you like/need by your favorite brand. What are the odds that it would end up looking exactly like some artist’s signature product? Zero, or close to it. Because well, that’s the point: it’s a personal thing. That’s why I much prefer customizing a regular series model to my taste rather than buying something all prepped up for someone else. Plus they ALWAYS have to add some incredibly silly details that scream “look, I’m this artists’s signature model”, which I hate with a passion. I mean, who has to actually sign their own axe? Seriously.
I agree, my biggest ick for guitars is when the guitarists signature is somewhere super visible. Such a turn off
I feel like one of the only people who actually likes this one more than the TOD10... Got to try this bad boy out at (a different) Musicworks and honestly I like the pickups much more than Tim's Also do think it looks quite nicer - only downside for me is that it's made from swamp ash (Ibanez wouldn't care to select light blanks for anyways) so it's quite hefty
Yeah I feel like the TOD10 is a bit bland, I wasn’t super into the aesthetic or the inlays. Didn’t get much chance to test it though coz someone bought it almost immediately! Haha
@@richardclarkmoore I ended up getting it off a person on trademe a few months later for around 2000 xD That being said, I do regret it even though it was nearly half price ToT (Was looking for an HH guitar with a floating bridge and that was the best option that showed up) Generally speaking though I feel like half of the pickup selections are just very oddly specific sounding or gimmicky and don't really work that well outside of Tim's newer stuff The Fishman Classics do a much better job at being all-rounder pickups for me at least
It's all just in the name. All manufactured guitars have their designs and features decided on and approved by the people in charge. Even signature models need to have the astist's requests approved, and they don't always get all their requests approved (and this is why some artists move on to another company that would be more receptive to their ideas). So either way, the decisions on the designs and features are approved by the big wigs at the top, and either you like their decisions or you don't. It has a lot less to do with the artists than you think it does, and the non-signature models' designs and features aren't decided by you either, so it really doesn't matter.
You are absolutely correct that it doesn't matter, but here I am, talking about it with strangers on the internet hahaha
i have 3 signature guitars MTM20, Mark Rizzo B.C. Rich Stealth and Kenny Hickey's Solo 6 Schecter all amazing guitar and i never have felt like they weren't my own, the only one i bought because of the artist was the Solo 6 the rest were just great guitars for me
The Kenny Hickey is that Green Solo 6 eh? Such a rool looking gat!
@@richardclarkmoore yes it is
Signature stuff is a lie because if its really signature how come they can just change to a whole different brand and not do the same type of body signature i think is just for marketing purposes nothing else nothing more and this guitar is the biggest example of it its an RG lets just say is Mick and we pay him so that it has his name but still an RG
Idunno if I’d go that far, it’s definitely mostly marketing, but people change ! Preferences change! So it doesn’t surprise me much when artists change brands
I can relate. I bought PRS Mark Holcomb guitar and first thing I did is to flip that top neck rod cover where his name is. Now its mine :D
Guitarists with signature guitars hate this simple trick! Hahaha
Mick rocks. I can understand why people like cats. I hate them. They don't obey and when they destroy something, scold them all you want, they don't learn. The ones that know how to use the toilet are pretty rad
My cat like to urinate in pot plants so I think he’s doing okay 👌
I have a Steph Carpenter 8 string, Synyster Gates Schecter, I find certain guys designs are pretty much what I would do. i can see why one might not want a sig model of course. I only like certain ones
Makes sense to me, I can’t get behind those Synyster shapes though, they don’t feel quite right to me
BROOOOO THAAAAT'S YOUR REASON HAHAHAHAHHAHA If you only knew man. Signature guitars are like 90% of the guitars I've owned! Not always a good strategy, and I regret that after many years of buying guitars. The first time I just got the guitar that fit me best I felt like such an idiot for spending decades trying to fit someone else's instrument into my hands. The most ironic part is my current guitar IS a signature lol. PRS DW best guitar ever!
I LOVE the look of this guitar! It looks like a black Beamer, and I prefer SEVEN on the truss cover. Also couldn't believe that wasn't just a Floyd, without the wiggle-stick attached!
I’m really confused whether you are for or against signature guitars by these comments, but as long as you have a guitar that you love, that’s the most important thing! Thanks for commenting! I appreciate it ☺️
@@richardclarkmoore 🤪😜 Well let’s just say I completely agree with you. I just got lucky this last one fit me so good! 😊
Stupid. Guitars are just Geetars. Anything that isn't a Telecaster is a less than Geetar. Now You Know. Just Saying 😎
I’m here for this take hahahaha
Had a choice between this and the Arctic Metal 7. Ended up going with the latter because of the feature set, but Tele’s are my jam and I sometimes kick myself for not going with the former lol. Wish more companies did 7 string baritone Tele’s (or offsets too). Also great vid and great playing, man.
Cheers mate! Choices are hard man, I regret a lot of expensive gear I’ve bought over the years honestly, but it’s all part of the journey
@@richardclarkmoore No problem! And yup totally agree. All the gear acquisitions sorta teaches you what you like or don’t like so you can make more informed decisions later. Already learned a lot about what I want from living with the Arctic Metal 7 for some months now, stuff like ergonomics and stainless steel frets etc.
I own several Jackson Rhoads guitars and have no problem with playing them or feeling like they are MINE!!! but maybe thats just me.
That’s good! They are wicked guitars 💪
I had 2 Jim Roots fenders, had the same feelings…..thought it was just me……
Nah man, I’m here to unite the people !
Basically, signature guitar aversion is like an artist ordered a meal, and the selections they made sounded so good that you really want to order the same thing, but you don't because it wasn't your idea. I don't personally see the value necessarily in any particular signature model, but at the end of the day, 100% credit for the guitar goes to the workers. All the artists usually do is choose the colors, materials, and pickups. And 9 outta 9 times the "signature" version the artist actually uses has different pickups, and hand tweaked details that mean the "signature" guitar you hold is most likely nothing like the one the artist has, except for color. I would definitely feel that disconnection from the instrument if it was an artist used guitar, though.
I’m always curious to know if any famous guitarists actually play their signature models straight out of the box eh, surely some do
@richardclarkmoore that's a really good question. Like you said, there must be someone who does, but it's probably either only for like, a tour, a couple of shows, or for 1 or 2 songs in a set. I think Nita Strauss uses her stock signature model, and probably Tim Henson, but I could be completely wrong about that. We've all seen Steve Vai play his stock model, I'm sure. What's kina funny is they're all Ibanez artists.
@@smileymcgee2967 I reckon George benson plays his signatures too, he’s got enough versions to give Steve via a run for his money haha
I feel the same. just can't do it, even if I love the guitarist
your username really threw me for a second there
@@richardclarkmoore 😂 it's supposed to. it's from the old SNL celebrity jeopardy.
i have the white soloist mick used. the neck is pretty nice.
Exactly! I feel the same and would only ever own a Les Paul .
My cat loves to sleep in my guitar case too 😂
If it fits he sits!!
I wanted the purple ST model but they are overpriced. No bone or graphite nuts, no stainless steel frets, but the same price as models that come with such features. And the pu positions are probably an acquired taste
Yeah it’s hard to justify an expensive guitar if you still need to upgrade it
