Excellent bass covet of a bass line when played sped up for Live performances that Level 42 played Live has fast become an easy bass line like " Love Games " as we've had decades of hours on cd/tape or vinyl to listen tk the original album version played slower & then the faster Live Version & have had all that time to catch up with what Mark & what he created this bass line but maby decades later...
I've only one gripe , if you can call it that , with regards this bass cover of any cult classic by Level 42 & that is you couldve done with a little more bass added but apart from that it sounded spot on...
Theres just something about the JD Supernatural Series Series 1 & Roadie Bass Guitars that have their own great sound as John Diggin's had so many players asking him if he could build a bass guitar that was similar to that of an Alembic but at less the cost of Alembic Bass Guitars as they were & still are too expensive to this day & thats when eventually JD Supernatural Series I was born & not only could it produce a similar sound to an Alembic but that sound fast became a part of tge JD Bass Guitars own take on the Alembic & is easily recognised when its played but thus bass is not a one trick pony & has a lot of great sounds but of course the first thing every one wants tp do on it is playing slap style & the only other bass i know has that same ability to make their owners want to olay slap on it is the MusicMan Stingray...
" To the player on this upload & brilliant bass cover of " Mr Pink " i say:
" Do not ever sell that particular bass guitar , ever. "
As they are highly sought after but lets just say i think id be right if i said youd regret ever getting rid of it , but thats not the case but i respectfully request , again , that you never sell that bass guitar "
If you borrowed it from a friend to do this bass cover then tell him or her who is the owner to not to ever sell this bass guitar no matter what yiour offered for it!..
In light of this still ongoing coronavirus and its variants stay safe and healthy wherever you are in this world...

    • @greatwhite61967
      @greatwhite61967 3 роки тому

If you look at my recent comment you'll see its not just in Canada that they are difficult to come by...
I live in the UK & its very rare to pick one of these up so i'd suggest you do what i should've done 10 year's ago & put your name down on John Diggins waiting list which is about 16 to 18 months & that way your guaranteed your very own JD Bass Guitar...
You might have better luck in Canada but in the UK unless your order one they are like gold dust & 99% of the time are sold privately...
If your really serious about owning one then do as i did & dont waste 10 year's as i did hoping i could pick one up preowned...
Call or better still email them & do as i have done & thats ask for your name to be added to their waiting list...
I always thought one day I'd get one but 10 year's later & im still searching...
Yes there have been a few on online sites but more often than not they are well overpriced & the price would still not be justifiable as some player's dont look after their equipment...
There is 1 Black JD Supernatural Series II for sale on Ebay from Japan for £2,410.90 plus £129.73 postage & shipping from Japan & im guessing you'll have an Import Tax fee to pay on top of that & what ever that comes to in Dollars or Euro's you'd be better trying to buy a new one by getting on Johns waiting list as it would be the same price or slighlty cheaper as i would depend on what you would want on your JD Bass Guitar...
Believe it or not that same JD Supernatural Series III has been up for sale for year's & over many year's i've emailed the Seller informing them that their asking price was way too high, as for year's they were asking £3950.00 plus shipping but now that i went to check it again for the first time in about a month this is the first time that they've actually lowered it to a reasonable price but personally i wouldn't buy it & it would be purely your decision if you were interested in that Black Preowned JD Supernatural Series II Bass Guitar on Ebay...
In light of this still ongoing coronavirus stay safe and healthy in Canada & the best of luck aquiring a JD Bass Guitar...

A spot on cover of " Mr Pink " a track along with " Love Games " that have become 2 cult classics from Level 42...
If i may ask when did you acquire your JD Supernatural Series Bass Guitar & what model is it!...
As they are very difficult to come by preowned & are very few & far inbetween when they do show up...
I've tried in vain for 10 year's to pick one up via instrument stores when i should have just bit the bullet & asked John Diggins to put me on his list which is usually a waiting time of 16 to 18 months to get on if your lucky enough...
As one thing thats still true about these bass guitars is how popular all the various models that John & his son have built are & are just as popular to this day as they have their own unique sound...
    A brief synopsis.
I quit the music industry & stopped playing predominantly my bass guitar but also my acoustic & lead guitars up until 15 years ago as i felt i was ready to play again but this time it is for for myself & for the joy of it & not because of beung in a band & in 15 year's i've never got close to buying one as these bass guitar's as they are sold as soon as a store puts them up on their online site or they are most commonly sold privately...
Thankfully at JD Guitar's HQ they remember all my emails from year's ago when i was inquiring & thinking of putting my name on their list but last month I decided i have to do it this way if i am ever going to own & keep one of these beauties...
A place has opened up for me this August & at the moment I've given in most of my specifications & all Andrew told me is im on the list & it will be ready sometime over a 16 month period though he stressed it would be completed before that time period...
I should've done this sooner but each time i saw a bass guitar thar i became interested in i just had to have it...
I never critique a cover & in this case how could I as you've done a great cover of one of my favourite bass lines to play along to also from Level 42 but at first i thought it was because i was having a quick listen via my mobile aka cell phone so i put my head phones on and its still the same as the only thing i'd change is adding a little more bass on your JD but that's just my preference & doesnt detract anything away from your overall cover of " Mr Pink " & apart from that you nailed it...
A word of caution whatever you do " do not ever sell or trade in this bass guitar " as you'll regret it as i've sold or traded in bass guitar's from the late 70s to mid 80s & i've never gotten them back again, so in a way lesson learned the hard way for me...
Keep up the great playing & i also noticed the record or vinyl player in the background & for me that is the best & only true way to listen to any style or genre of music but " Each To There Own "
In light of this still ongoing coronavirus stay safe & healthy wherever you are in this world...
    All The Best...

Hi, I placed the order for my Jaydee back in March 2015. They said that there's a waiting time until they start building my bass. It was finished in June 2017. But as many Jaydee owners say it's absolutely worth the wait. This one is a Series I with bounded neck and headstock. I wanted to keep it close to Mark Kings first Jaydee. Thanks for your kind words! I'm gonna upload some new stuff very soon. Cheers!

I've decided to order a JD Supernatural Series I , & the same as Mark's , as I've tired of waiting any show up preowned & like many sought after instruments they rarely show up for sale & if they do theh are gone before can even call the store that has it up on their Store's Online Website...
I know I'm going to get a brand new JD Supernatural Series I Bass Guitar (brand new) & I don't have to worry about any issues that a preowned one from decades ago can suddenly pop up but I got to admit the waiting is going to be hard to take & I hope I can get a new health issue under control just enough for me to practice & that I'm ready to play it went it arrives...
Apart from the 10 years when I walked away from the Band I was in & the ridiculous BS of our so Manager who kept trying to rip us off but when he did we git our monies worth in other ways , & I'll leave that topic & that...
For 10 years I never played any instruments or even listened to music & if you knew me like my friends do they know to me Music is like my Reoigion & I worship at the alter of music but I had to cut my losses but in doing so I always " Cut my nose to spite my face " as I should have , at least , never stopped listening to music but some scars take longer to heal...
After i got back into playing my bass guitar & acoustic it didn't take me long to get back to the level I was at & with my now lovd of music & now playing my bass guitar just for fun is so much better as the Music Industry used to take every part of you if you let it & it's best that at times some who are as good or better than big hit signed acts & they are not the latter can be better in the long run as the Music Industry was famous for ripping the soul out of solo acts & bands & I'm glad I walked away as I saw other bands that played from all around my city & country that were mostly all playing the same places but those who got signed looked liked walking zombies & in a very short space of time they went from loving what they did to now having to do it & they had no choice or say in the matter...
As I've said in a few comments on this bass cover that you play you nailed it but I would've added a little bit more bass on your amp & bring up the fact that " Love Games "& especially " Mr Pink " have become cult classics...
I can understand " Love Games " enduring through out time but I never though " Mr Pink " follow " Love Games " as cult classics that many fans expect to hear when Level 42 playing...
Changing the pickup to the back one & speeding up " Mr Pink " gave more edge than the album version as on the album version it had more coming fromg from the front pickup but it still still sounded good & no matter what version you preferred it was clear why many bassists wanted to learn Love Games but predominantly " Mr Pink "
In light of this still ongoing coronavirus and it's variants stay safe and healthy wherever you are in this world...

@@greatwhite61967 That's good news!! And you will love it and it's also nice to support the Diggins family with your order. They are lovely people and keep you updated with the work in progress. It will take about two years waiting time but it's absolutely worth it. One tip: Ask them for the "old style/classic pickups" if you really want the vintage Jaydee tone.

Cheers for the heads up on the old style pickup as thats much appreciated but no doubt we will chat about the pickups further down the line along with the custom extras i"ll be looking for...
I managed to get through today to talk with Andrew & we chatted about what it would take to get the ball rolling & i requesting an email with all the optional extras as i onky own a mobile phone as i got rid of my Pc year's ago & trying to look at text on a small screen is even more difficult when thr text descriptions are so small...
      Quick Question?..
Its quite common for bassists to have small hands &/or fingers & equally so for big hands &/or long fingers & since ive never held a JD Supernatural Series I Bass Guitar by hand i was wanting ask is it quite a fast neck & not to broad in width as I've never asked for a bass tk be made & any bass guitars i bought that i wanted i had to live with the fact that some were quite big width wise for my small hands...
Again this something that we'll discuss more further down the line when it gets nearer to doing the the measurements for the neck , as i think the Series I body is slightly bigger than the Series II body , but apart from that i think everything else is the same dimensions between both bass models...
The reason i've always ended up not getting any of JD Range of Bass Guitar's is something has always shown up out of the blue & i've bought that or 2 specific bass guitar's i've wanted would go & show up within 1 week of each other but no more as ive put ofc getting a JD for way too long , plus i have , as you said & i knew already , that i have a lengthy waiting time so if anything comes up that im interested in i can still get it as Andrew said today they only ask for a 1/3 of the deposit up front & if my memory serves me correctly once its near completion thats when they will want the balance...
Already for the last 3 weeks ive had tp stop myself from buying a Kubicki Ex Factor 4 Bass Guitar from one of the 2 main instrument stores i use & i know this sounds trivial but if it wasnt for the fact its finished in Black & its being sold via a customer & the store request their commission , this has seen the price shot to more than its worth but i must admit it looks pretty sweet for a 31 year old bass guitar in all original working order & ive owned a few bass guitar's that were 30 plus year's old & i had no problems with them at all...
The thing is , well for me that is , the bass guitars built between the mid 70s & mid 80s are all the basses id love to own as that person of time saw the electric bass guitar finally get so many great & diverse bass guitars from luthiers all over the world & these basses are vintage & highly collectable now as about 80% of those new bass builders during that time that saw such a diverse range of bass guitar's either closed doors or were bought over by bigger mass produced bass building company...
The prices are nuts as fir example:
A vintage Wal MKI Or MKII Fretless Bass Guitar , i last saw , sold £6500 but you can buy a brand new one fir £1K less but many want the prestige of owning one of the original bass guitars & they are willing to pay top dollar..
In light of this still ongoing coronavirus stay safe and healthy wherever you are in this world & Take Care...

To me it is! It's of course a bit heavy (11.2 lbs/5.1 kg) and the gap between neck and neck pickup is quite narrow for popping the string. But I got used to it very quickly. The neck feels like something between Jazz & Precision but I prefer bigger necks due to my large hands. Another thing is that the first fret feels farer away than usual. You need to stretch your left arm a little bit to reach the first fret. Some people dislike that type of construction a lot. If you wanna go for a Jaydee I recommend to try one first!
