Savage Trails takes on the Trails for a Jeep Badge of Honor
Переглядів 3805 місяців тому
We ran a badge of honor trail at Rausch creek off-road park. We wanted to do a shakedown run on shifty after the modifications. We only got to run the one trail and just had a bunch of fun around the park for the rest of the day. The Rubicon gladiator really impressed me! Can’t wait to get some more badges!

Ultimate Overlanding Vehicle Overview
You’re down south. Head up to the NEK for some -20 the end of January. 😂
lol. Baby steps. Last year was the first year we were. “Cold camp” ready. Did a quick stint with hook ups. This year we Boondock for a couple days straight and definitely learned a lot. But once the next round of modifications are done, looking forward to more challenging cold camping.
Can you get a wood stove installed in it? 🤔
lol. In all seriousness I did look into it.
@@SavageTrails and can you cause I have seen others with the small camping ones!!
@@SavageTrails cause I have seen others with the small tent wood burning stoves in them as that would be a game changer!! 🤩
One day hopefully I can get a rig like that
It would be. Been looking into a tiny pellet stove but weighing out the negatives vs positive sick as venting and then if we need to move quickly and need time to let it burn out. But I love the idea so still debating. Also, want to do other winter mods such as more heat tape and maybe a hot water recirculating system
In the ferry is a good way to melt the snow ❄️ 😂 Do you leave a roof vent open a few inches to help with humidity? I haven’t been that cold yet but with a roof vent open I don’t have condensation. You run the tank heaters off of battery power?
We did not open the vent. I thought about it, but did not want to sacrifice the heat buildup. Already have a better dehumidifier on the way. And yes. We Boondock the entire time. So the heat tracing for the piping. As well as the tank heaters were all on battery.
Awesome video!! Rig looks awesome well done Bill
Thank you so much. Loving the build and continuing to improve!
Always a Joy to see you putting it to the test.
Thank you so much for the comment! Working hard to keep her awesome! Lol
How cool!! Your camper fit😅😅 Merry Christmas to you and yours 🎉
Yes! Definitely ducked first time. lol. You too! Merry Christmas! 🎁
Thanks for the link. I have those exact hinge mirrors. Total crap. I'll be ordering some CMM's soon!
Awesome! So glad to hear it! You will love them! They are pricey but you get what you pay for.
How has the average mileage changed? I've got a 2020 JTR, had the clutch recall done in august, but the release bearing pooched. Im halfway through swapping to a centerforce. Hope to finish tomorrow. 35s and 2" lift. Stock 4.10s. CF also has new hydraulics.
No change in mileage. Funny you mention that. Just had a leak develop in the hose that connects the master with the clutch slave. Just received my CF clutch hydraulic kit the other day. Can’t wait to install!
My brand new bearing pooched again. I think that stupid finger piston from the slave cylinder didn't line up with the fork thing. Now I have to pull it out all over again
That’s brutal! Sorry to hear. Sounds like that’s the problem. 😕. Keep me in the loop.
@@SavageTrails the shop thinks the bearing is fine. The factory slave piston bent trying to force the CF pressure plate. Gotta use the CF hydraulics. Still don't have it back yet.
Wow! Didn’t know that was a thing. Turns out I have off this weekend. Hopefully get to install my CF hydraulics. In any case let me know how you like it. Thanks for keeping me posted!
Great video! The JL clutch is complete trash. It's so inconsistent, as well. I like your doors-off mirrors. Where did you get them?
Thanks! Yes, couldn’t deal with the stock clutch at all! CMM offroad Jeep mirror review! #CMMoffroad #Jeep #gladiator ua-cam.com/users/shortsOzDSS8nHMUk?feature=share Made this short about them CMM. Love um.
@@SavageTrails Great, thank you!
Why did you go ACT over center force?
Nothing against center force. I just have had a few ACT clutches in the past and they were all flawless for me. Thanks for the comment!
Nice video. We had a local shop install the same clutch and flywheel in our 23JLU. I can only guess that Jeep put that terrible clutch and flywheel in to save on EPA road course fuel testing because for an off-road vehicle it makes no sense. We have an Italian sports car with a similar light weight dual mass flywheel and for that application it rocks, however it has great feel. How did Jeep get the engagement so wrong? Do they even test their own products? Also the 3.45 gearing is a little tall in our Sport S especially considering we have the tow package. I’d love to see a Jeep engineer tow a 5000lb trailer up a grade from a stop with a factory Sport S manual. $20 says they’d stall it more than once. When we ordered our Jeep the only way to get the 4.11 axles was to spend another $15,000 for the Rubicon. I was planning on re-gearing but the ACT clutch is so good I don’t think we need to.
Oh, I know! It’s insane! As we said in the video. My TJ which is 20 years older feels 100 times better. We have a Miata that feels way better and I’ve had multiple other sports cars, including BMWs with dual fly wheels and nothing comes close to feeling as crappy as the factory set up. Luckily we scored this Rubicon crazy cheap used because it sat on the lot forever because no one knows how to drive stick anymore. But we came from a sport S gladiator. The gearing definitely helps out a lot. Thanks so much for reaching out! And the personal thank you for being a fellow manual owner and keeping it alive!!!
Looks so beautiful! Your set up looks fun. We just traveled the East coast and are on our way back down. Where are you guys like to travel for the winter?
Nice! Were you heading now? We typically just go alittle north upstate NY. Nothing crazy. Just enough to get some snow and fun in.
Looks so beautiful! Your set up looks fun. We just traveled the East coast and are on our way back down. Where are you guys headed for the summer?
Thanks. Summer we just pick an area and go. Changes every summer.
All the other dad's in that neighborhood must just sit in awe as you drive by 😂
lol to put it nicely. lol. Thanks!!!
Talking about a tease! When is “her” gonna get talked about. Hmmm!
Don’t worry. It’s gonna happen !
Looks like an Amazing Summer!! 😎😎😎😎 Loved this video!!😎😎😎😎
We did! Loved every minute
Thank you for a smile! Great video You guy look like you had a great weekend
Thank you!!! Appreciate you reaching out!
Looks like you packed a whole lot of fun into the summer
Yes we did! Thanks!
$285! Get the F out!
Yeah. Pricy
Love mine! Only thing I don’t like is the extreme fisheye you get. It really hurts in judging the distance.
I agree. But, think its worth it for the added blind spot viewing. Thanks for the comment!!!
Great video 👍
Thanks!!!! That means the world to us!
I’m buying my manual Gladiator next couple months. I read the reviews with the ACT or Advanced Clutch Technology and a lot are happy with the replacement. I’m also investing with the ACT as well.
Ujoint off-road to the rescue
Absolutely! Front bumper has good mounting points!
I love me some Kenny Chesney music❤ I love him too! 💓🌷💋
We have seen Zac a bunch of times. First time for Kenny. Always wanted to see him and he put on a phenomenal show!!!
Do you have any problems with your slide outs getting out of time with the twisting of the rig from off-road driving?
Great question. So far so good. The main side is rack and pinion. They are pretty tuff. The rear shwintec I make sure to sync the motors almost every time I use it. Also we only deploy the slides when we are close to level.
@@SavageTrails Thanks for the info. We are taking our new rig to UJoint Colorado in a couple of weeks. Our old rig didn't have slides. Just curious if there would be any problems we should look out for. Thanks again. We live in FL, maybe we'll run into you some time.
NICE! good luck and congratulations! I’m always up and down the coast so hopefully we will bump into you! Just curious if your FL why go CO over NC?
@@SavageTrailsNC couldn't get to it until January
Ah. Yeah. I waited like 18months. Brutal. lol Your gonna love it!.
Nice work! That thing is sick!!
Thank you so much! Any particular favorite part?
@@SavageTrails well, now I need to go 4x4. I want to do more winter camping to take my family snowboarding all over. And I love how capable your RV is. Heated pipes. TONS of power + solar. Best is that you actually use it. And looks like your family loves it. So pretty much every part is rad.
@@JKLMJoneses thanks soooooo much! Yeah, we use it as much as we possibly can. We do love it. Got a few more mods planned for the future to improve and adapt the rig even more! 4x4 is the key to unlock these things! Any questions please reach out!
Where’s the beach?
Long Island ny
Enjoy!! Every single minute!!😎🏄🏼♂️
We are!
Just Priceless!😎
Loving it!
Just Awesome!!😎 Looks like great summer time fun!!
Going great. Coming to an end soon!
Lucky boys!!
Yes they are!
How much do you think you have invested: the rig, the mods, the customization, everything?
I try to not keep track lol. But got it pre covid. Total is probably way less then what they sell for nowadays
That was definitely worth a subscription!!
Thanks sooo much!!!
maybe make a bag and put sad in become 1 meter by 30 cm sad bag and make tirs air out 30 percent. beautiful rv nice video . thanks of you.
Thanks for reaching out!!! Yes, the tires were aired down. 25psi. Main reason we got as far as we did in 2wd. I would like some more sand ladders though
Absolutely beautiful views!!
Thank you! It’s great out here!
You did trail 11? I have to make my way over there before the summer is over. 😊
Yes. Trail 11. We also tried to run the blue badge of honor trails. I think it’s called Crawdaddy Butt we’re just ran out of time. We Will be going back again soon! Subscribed to your channel! Thanks for reaching out!
@@SavageTrails I’m looking to go soon as well but need more than one car to do the trails.
I’ll let you know when we go!
That outside solar bracket is sweet! Well done on the installation! Is that sole bracket something that Ring makes?
Yes. That’s all direct from ring! Thanks for checking in!
Did your buddy get a lift done on his Jayco? (Is that the Greyhawk on an F-550?) If so, where did he have it done?
He has a Seneca XT new for 2023 I think. F600 factory 4x4. With factory 2” lift. Took it out stock and got stuck immediately. He shipped it to a company in Texas that re-geared. It did an another 2 inches of lift and 43 inch tires with a super single conversion. No problems anymore Stay tuned. He got it back a day before we went on that trip so we will be doing a dedicated video to his rig with past video when he was coming up.
Sweet
Thanks!!!!!🙏
Very cool. Only thing missing: dogs
Oh they are there! Named salty and dune our beach pups.
Ready for Mad Max world premiere.
lol. Always!!!!
AWESOME BUILD! GET IT HYDRO BOOSTED!!! 😉😉
She is! Also F550 brakes.
@SavageTrails wow I mustve missed it in ur vid
Not at all. That was our very first video and it was horrible. lol forgot a lot. It’s a Ujoint stage 3 front axle. Comes with f550 brakes
Enjoy
