A plumber could get by with black and decker tools.
Car insurance is a scam and rip off. I would have been going to trade school with no insurance and driving extra cautious. This story he told kinda blows its like the moral of the story is to cry and beg a company to get ur way. We need to push back on these insurance companies.
LOL. CLOWN
It is very expensive, depending on where ya buy , im a mechanic ,if i wanna buy an impact, a drill its 200+ and then ya gotta but the battery too, 400+ i can go buy a dewalt and get the battery and charge , and an extra battery for the same price ,im just saying, and i truly think that depends on where ya live as well 🤷♂️
Diamonds are not super valuable because they are not rare.
Yes! 10 minute videos!
Ya don't have to charge these outrageous pricings on ONE job because you have all the equipment to cover for. It's the reason you go into business so you can continue being in business in the long run. Soon as people realize there are fair-er pricing elsewhere, your business is done.
As a business owner I know you can write off your expenses on your taxes so this puts that expense money back into your pocket as profits. Nice try with the BS.
Tis is bs
Bullshit
Diamonds arent valuable because they're rare they're valuable because jewlers and marketers made you think they were rare.
But i like DeWalt 😂
Debeers has tons and tons of diamonds in vaults to support the price.
Artificially. Crazy to think, another diamond deposit discovery in the US could upend the value
Once had a tree guy give me such an outrageous estimate 10k+ for a 2-3k job. I asked him to explain. He said he has all this equipment, truck, crane, and shop he's got to pay for. I laughed. Why does the customer have to pay for your your irresponsible purchases. Bid the job not your bills. So I told him to kick rocks. Did it myself with a chainsaw and a ladder.
Chainsaws and ladders NEVER mix. I mean NEVER EVER. Yea yea I know "I do it all the time" or "I'm safe...I know what I'm doing" but no. NEVER. Ladders and chainsaws are lethal combinations.
How much of that is personal profit? You have all those expenses, true, but how much profit? That is the most important factor that determines if your prices are fair or not, and suspiciously it is one you did not mention. 🤔
You know nothing about running a business . 98% of businesses make less than 5% profit a year . Amazon literally didn't make a profit for 20 years even though it was "worth" billions .

They won't switch over to Milwaukee because they have 13 different Dewalt tools and batteries sliding around the back of the work truck.
I actually switched from Milwaukee to DeWalt, because I was tired of low quality 1/2 impacts. They were taking a shit every 6-8 months. The dewalts last the same at a lower cost. So there you go
@@nohandletobehad I don't care what you use. I have both brands, and very few complaints about either of them. My point was that people aren't switching because they already have plenty of Dewalt batteries and tools. It took Dewalt 20 years to earn their market share away from Makita, who made the first cordless tools back in the late 90's - early 2000's.
@@jpatt85 what does Makita have to do with the conversion ? And how many years it took DeWalt to earn the market share ?
@@nohandletobehad Don't worry about it.
@@jpatt85 whose toolset did you count to come up with that statistic?
Same with most if not all other trades
There's more A/C guys than plumbers for sure
If you make a few million without pulling your hair out I will be super impressed. I'm in Navarre and I wonder how Pensacola compares. Why did you pick this area?

I know you say you'd rather not have apprentices. But if you did, shouldn't that be in COGS? That way, if a technician wants a "helper" it will only affect his own paycheck, and not the entire company's, specifically the other techs that work harder to do a job without help. We consider the helpers pay as a direct cost to each job they're on, with a different labor cost than our techs. Mark it up just as we would with materials, but don't include it in our hourly rate calculations either. You could say we have 3 things we sell: Materials, Skilled Labor, and Unskilled Labor. What do you think? Too complicated? We are electricians, so service work can usually be 1-man, but our projects are very inefficient without 2-man tasks.. Your thoughts?
I would include apprentice in cogs for non service work that requires 2 guys. I would classify those as install crews and would keep service and install income, cogs and gross margin separate on my P&L.
@jeredwilliams That's been one of the hardest parts of running my business, keeping service and installs separate. Never tried separating on my P&L, but that totally makes sense.
Joel looks like the MrAdam Construction guy who shakes his head and rolls his eyes at people doing silly stuff.
Hahaha! I can see it. I think he looks like a younger Frank Kern with short hair!
I appreciate your wisdom. God bless
Corruption in government! They need money for politicians and illegals plus lets not forget Ukraine. Why are we forced to pay taxes for others. Workmens comp is criminals. They don't care they charge ridiculous amounts then reward people you fire. Plus in Maryland to get a contract you must give 5 to 10% profits to a black company. They say minority but only accept certain businesses which are all only one race. Tell me again who really has privilege.
Stfu. To don't need to pay yourself more
So you are clearing 250 dollars a hour with one man doing nothing at all yourself 😅😅but you built the business and it’s your reward 😅😅
I feel like the luckiest s.o.b. On the planet. I’m getting to watch in real time as someone stars a business from scratch to 100 million and people are too lazy to watch. Absolute proof most people just want to consume and if you are smart and work hard you won’t win, you will absolutely dominate. Deus Vult!
FR, now we gotta see if he lives up to scaling it to 100 million or end up with an ordinary few mil a year home service company
Aren't you a plumber, what are you washing?
He is a business owner, just started off plumbing, that’s all
Guys gotta get in the union. This guy is probably charging the workers 300 a week for insurance lol
Unions a joke I'm not in a union employer pay 100% of my insurance
@@Allintn22 damn which one? I get 100% paid by the employer
I get full benefits and insurance its like $70/month plus i make over $30 CAD/hr and i dont work weekend or holidays… hommie you dont need union you need a better workplace. A good workplace will 100% take care of it workers if it understands they will take care of it. You are supposed to get back financially what you put in physically, if you dont its just bad leadership. I had a dozen bad jobs with bad bosses before my current employer.
@BadStormtrooper420 💯 facts you gotta finger that good place usually nobody leaves and it's probably not the biggest company either
I’m not much of a commenter, but keep preaching truth my friend. My family owns a HVAC, electrical, solar & plumbing company that I have been working for the last 13 years and we definitely aren’t the cheapest in town which attracts more wealthy people who will continue to use us over and over again for not one but all our services. Couldn’t agree more with you on your videos.
💯
Bull 💩 you're just a greedy ______
When people hear what they think is a crazy quote all they see is one guy working for an hour and making 500 bucks. Most of that is Government interference, red tape, overhead like workman's comp. Your paying somewhere around 75 cents extra for every dollar you pay your guys. Not including any materials, transportation etc
Just one more reason to work for yourself. You can undercut these big boys and make $200k more per year than working for them.
Under cutting? Then why do they make double even triple the profit without cutting corners?
@johnnycasteel7 undercut the price of the job that the customer has to pay while the worker/owner brings home double or triple the pay that they would compared to working for someone else. No cutting corners, just honest, good work.
@@joelopez3528 then why don’t the big companies make more profit than these supposed people making so much with less? You are very confused
@@joelopez3528Tell us another joke
Funny how standard views are now extreme.🫤
Providing customers with a detailed list on all the scope of work to be done for their service with a price is extremely valuable. You can even go above and beyond and include alternate scopes with alternate prices is a nice touch. Adding a gantr chart style schedule may impress and easy to add
As long as you don’t lie to the customer your good. Like I already know my painter is getting my paint at a huge discount and then up charging me on top. I just wanna see if he’s going to lie to my face to make himself look better.
I recommend also having them design a cool custom QR code/logo that you can place on your business cards and trucks, merch, ect. QR code scanning is super cool and convenient for customers
Its best to complete the full estimate per usual and make a customer friendly readable version if the estimate gets requested
Chiming in from Washington state! Electrical contractor here 😊
Welcome!
What are your thoughts on two guys per van? J man + apprentice?
I think for service it’s no bueno. For install it’s fine.
