I just ordered some 1lb spider weights, are you attaching your spider weights the same way or are you permanently affixing them to the leader itself Sir? I was going to run my main line through the spider weight and then tie up to leader, thoughts? I would still like to get a 10000 slammer too if funds allow it down the track, seems the only spin reel that everyone agrees is the best suited for sharkin'

No, that was a long liners hook, it had 2 hooks in it, we didn't have time to get it out, u can tell it's not ours by how rusty it is. We got ours out with our dehooker.

@@sharkyshepo8167 It works well for sure. Personally though I'll just carry on using barbless hooks for various reasons. The main reason is that when you get a break-off, there's no need to feel guilty :)

@@liltimothy8109I am being realistic when I tell you that I use barbless for every species of fish except bass as they tend to get leverage on the jig or lure and throw the hook quite easily. But for all other species there's no difference - except that it's far easier to catch and release when there isn't a barb. Stainless steel hooks can stick in a fishes' mouth for a long time, and cause infection. Sharks have cartilaginous jaws so the hook will penetrate alright. So if you are a competent angler there shouldn't be any problems in bringing them in. With a barbless hook, you can just shunt it out and release the fish easily. With a barb, that process is more difficult. All in all I feel it's a better way to handle an adversary that deserves respect.
