Hi, my name is Larissa and I'm a plant nerd.
I'm also a journalist, and I've spent years writing about Sustainability and Politics for Brazilian publications.
Ever since I fell in love with houseplants I've been trying to understand them. What makes them grow faster? Why can some plants go for weeks without watering and some can't? Why are variegated plants so expensive?
I believe we can all be better plant parents if we actually get to understand how they work. This is my quest, and I'll share everything I learn with you. Subscribe to follow this exciting adventure. =)
I'm also on Instagram, where I share more of my everyday plant care: @ladislara.

What to Look For When Buying New Plants | The Ultimate Plant Buying Guide
Nice podos!!!
Hello , my pearls and jade is a slower growing than the Njoy. The manjula plant does not grow slower, at least mine has not. I have two manjula plants. I have had my pearl and jade for about two years and it grow slower than any pothos I have It is slow as molasses. I have about 27 pothos and about 15 or 16 of them or different. I have about 140 plants and I had my first plant 31 years ago. I don't have a cebu blue, jessenia, and halaquin pothos. I have all the rest of them.
Aint nothing blue...mine are green😂😂
Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
this video was THE MOST helpful information out there! Particularly the stem comparison at 3:52 was a great tool for identification. the side by side comparison images and footage was so very helpful in all categories. Great video. Thanks so much!!
the video is very helpfull, thank you so much
I've made probably 100 journeys up the stairs to check on the lighting for my new alocasia and apoballis... I'm light headed today! 😂
I'm lucky enough to have 4 cats and a dog that only pay any attention to my MANY plants when they get too dry. IF that happens they rub on the plants, and one cat even meows loudly... Nag! 😂
Mustafa Locks
I have the Marble Queen Pothos, I got it recently, is it okay to keep it at north facing window, there will be zero sunlight but a lot of indirect sunlight.
Omg girl you made me laugh so much ty for that and the info loved it
Damaged by a bug I have to live with..Haha you are funny! We have cats/plants as well and it's a balancing act
I have never noticed my Alocasia meowes when I am not petting her 🤔
I'm sure a lot of gullible idiots will spend their last $ on these.
Just got my Green Global from Walmart... sold by Costa Farms 🚜
I got a Baltic Blue Costa Farms at Home Depot. I planted in a planter indoors with a 12 foot stake with another climbing plant. The other plant didn’t do well but the Baltic has taken off! Such an easy beautiful full plant.
Why does the leaf shrink?
I came across your Chanel today after purchasing an Alocasia Bambino and a Alocasia Silver Dragon from a local hardware store here in Australia. These are the first Alocasia I have owned so your video was excellent and very helpful for me. I’m looking through your other videos as well as I like how you present and explain things. 💚
Nic information
I'm dumber for watching
Una Garza
Video's not entirely correct. For those wondering what plant they've got: N'joy can also have green on white speckling, esp. if it was grown in low light conditions. However, only P&J can have dark green on green speckling.
Monstera are a completely different genus lol
I don't want to be THAT guy, but I have no choice. Alocasia poly and amazonica are two different plants. A poly is a dwarf amazonica.
Great video. You did a topic which many, many, many people do not do but it is so important. Thank you!!!
Adorei as dicas!!
Helpful video, thanks
I bought a marble queen about 10 years ago, and I've had it in three different houses. Initially, it looked exactly like the marble queen, but then I moved to a new house and put it in a spot that was a dim and never got direct sunlight. New shoots ended up growing off the plant near the base of the plant in the pot that had leaves thay were COMPLETELY green with no white at all. After a few years, I moved to a new house again that has the morning sun shining directly on it. New shoots ended up growing off the plant again at the base that ended up looking exactly like the snow queen. The thing is though that all three types of shoots are still growing leaves of their respective type. The shoot that has completely green leaves is still growing new leaves that are completely green. The original shoots are still growing leaves that look like the marble queen, and the new shoots are growing leaves that look like the snow queen. Its all one plant too!
What i can tell, might only be for young monsteras, its the way the stems part, monsteras like to grow stems from below the soil, but philodendrons look like the stems are splitting from the mother stem, and at the bottom of each smaller stem you can see these thin sails, i don’t know if this is necessarily correct, but I hope it helps regardless.
Such a helpful video! Thank you!
Thanks for sharing these valuable informations.
From my knowledge they are actually not the same .. there are small differences but they are definitely different for instance the snow queen at its most colorful will be 80% white and 20% green . And the marble queen will have 50/50 white to green . The confusion comes in because the marble queen can also get more variegated in higher light but still won’t reach the snow queens variegation. Also the snow queen has smaller slimmer leaves. And they both have 2 layers of variation but snow queens has more white var and marble has more mid tones and green
mine looks sad and leafs are gettin yellow but dont know why
I think the plant you're calling cebu blue isn't a cebu blue, it's a green Look at the video by winding leaf about that Green Epipremnum pinnatum are often mislabled as cebu blue So that's not your fault Cebu blue are much more blue also much paler, you don't have to compare them to other plants to notice it I suppose they can vary in hue but it's often way more noticeable
Thanks so much for this video! Exactly the info I was looking for, without so much chatter that I don’t have time to watch (human mom as well as plant mom😊). I’ll look for more of your videos. 🪴
People are screwing up the plant market so much by making things up. Just because you call it something doesnt mean it is that.
Oh....now we are playing God... Can you change water into wine as well?
Lol, I think she just wants to experiment. Even if she’s wrong with her way of thinking, it’s honestly not that deep. The fact that you made a comment 9 months ago and then another 2 months ago is a bit much. Have a great day! 😊
Monsteras are my fave and I have delicioso and adonosaii, 5 total. Or so I thought. Turns out I have 6, because what I, like many others, thought was a variety of philodendron is actually a young monstera delisioso. I’m mean I must’ve bought this as an infant because it’s almost 2 years old and still no fennestrations. 😳 So thank you for this information; you have a new subscriber in me for sure!
Loved your video, really helped me understand what I can do better to stop the drooping. Do you water your alocasia frydek with tap water or distilled?
My Tree Philodendron is right next to an east window. When I first got it, I read that it might get spots on the leaves if it got too much sun but it would get used to its location and mine has. It gets a few hours of direct morning sun but then indirect light the rest of the day. I just recently reported it from it's original soil and it seems to be much happier. I think I'm about to start getting some new growth.
Thank you! I ordered one last year and killed it by letting it sit in water overnight!

It is a word!
Thank you for sharing!
I’m curious, what happened 2 years after
Richard,.beuitiful pothos plant varieties you have. my next 4" pot plant will be the jade pothos plant due to its dark green leaves.so far im enjoying my plants journey.thank you great Videos as always.take care.
Larissa, you are so knowledgeable and so good at explaining! Please, continue your channel if you can (I understand it's a big commitment to get it going, but I hope you will return )
Epipremnum pinnatum Blatic Blue is actually a different species Epipremnum pinnatum same as Cebu Blue not E. aureum, that‘s why it starts to fenestrate earlier. I doubt it‘s any different from a normal green Epipremnum pinnatum tho
I checked the channel. any update on this coming up?
Good information
