I don't like board beans I'm going to use them as a cover crop. I would eat like 5 a year so there isn't much point of me growing them teallly but they are so good for the soil
Yes, so so good for the soil! I am going to try them in every bed over the next few years to rejuvenate the soil in the kitchen garden area! We are lucky that we like to eat them too 🫛🪴
Ok I’m going outside now to do broad beans again 😂. Have a fab week Sarah, Ali ☔️🥶🇨🇦
😂 I just love broad beans! Have a great week, Ali! 😊🪴💚
@ as it snows here most winters and get very very cold 🥶 (minus 14c last winter ❄️ but that’s unusual) I’ve put them in a vegepod I can cover they are a bush variety supposedly 🤞🤞
@ hope they work well for you! We got down to -8 C here last year 🥶🥶 (also very unusual), mine were fleeced and had a few blackened leaves, but they survived and did well overall 🤞🏻
Onions! That’s Brilliant. Was that from this years plantings? Hope the beans get on well. Do love abroad beans. And looking forward to seeing your project on the way!!
Yes, I am not sure how they got there! 😂 Maybe self seeded? Fingers crossed for the beans! 🤞🏻🫛 And hopefully can finish the fruit cage by the end of the week! 🤞🏻😃🪴
Excelente vlog 😅 bien
Thank you 😊🪴💚
Hi Sarah, lovely update, don't forget your fork under the PSB netting.
Hi Ady! Thank you, glad you enjoyed it! Oh, did I leave it under there? 🤦🏼♀️ I’ll have a look when it’s light tomorrow. Thank you for spotting it and pointing it out 😃 I would have been looking for that for ages 😂 Have a brilliant week ahead 😊🪴💚
I hope you have the same success with your broad beans as you did last year and good that you were able to cover them with netting. Looking forward to seeing the finished project in your next vlog. ♥
Yes, fingers crossed they do as well! 🤞🏻🤞🏻🙏🏼🙏🏼 they company have already replied saying they will sort it tomorrow for me, so fingers crossed for Friday! 🤞🏻🥰🪴

🎃🎃 Happy Halloween. Delicious spread💞
Thank you! Hope you have had a brilliant day! 🎃🍂👻
You’ve been so busy in the garden.. almost as busy as those caterpillars! I’m always shocked at just how big your garden space is! Every tour I feel I learn a bit more about it. The kitchen garden is truly spectacular. Can’t wait to see your spring bulbs coming up. They don’t look like turnips. They look more like onions. Turnips have leaves like swedes. That huge Willow at the back is so beautiful. Don’t think I’ve seen one that huge. Thank you for the mention. How lovely of you. I need to plant my garlic this week. Hope they do well for you. I really want to make pumpkin pie, a sweet one. The fruit cage is going to make such a difference to you. So excited for you. How lovely of First Tunnels
Haha yes, they really have been busier than me those caterpillars 😂😂🐛🐛 You are right! They definitely do look like onions and that’s where the onions were! 🤦🏼♀️ so I must have left some in! 🤦🏼♀️ I will leave them until I want to plant something else there and see how big they get 😂🧅 Thank you for solving that mystery! I just love the willow tree! It really makes that area of the garden and being near it feel so calming 😍😍 Thank you for the garlic! Hope I do them justice for you 🤞🏻🥰 Yes, sweet pumpkin pie is one of my favourites at this time of year, so we will definitely be having some of that 😋 Danny messaged to let me know he has just put hp his first funnels fruit cage too. So exciting and we will be using your video to help us when we do it! So useful 🥰 Hope you are all ok and coping as well as can be expected after the loss of your beautiful boy 🥲 Have a lovely week and looking forward to watching your big autumn plant out soon! 😊🪴💚
Hi Sarah, I’ve heard that the small climbing pumpkin called Jack be little is a good one to grow for your next year,
Hi Wendy Yes, I’ve heard that too, so definitely one to consider 😊🪴
@ if you need lots of inspiration for winter growing, I suggest watching Steve’s seaside kitchen garden & allotment. I am learning so much from his channel for my allotment!
@ so many great channels out there, full of tips and inspiration!
@@SundaysInTheGarden There certainly is.
Hi Sarah, lovely tour and the fruit cage will be a great addition to the garden.
Hi Ady Glad you enjoyed the tour! Yes, the fruit cage is going to make such a big difference to what I can grow 😊🪴💚
Lovely Sarah, you have a beautiful established garden. I love this time of year planning for the next growing season. Look forward to your next video x
Thank you, Andrea 😊 we feel very lucky! Yes, this time of year is wonderful for a slightly slower pace and excitement and planning for the year ahead. So much joy in every season! 😊🪴💚
Super job Sarah .So much clearing, looking forward to a colourful spring 🙂
Thank you, Susie! I am really excited to have so much additional growing space! 😊🪴💚
Butterhead lettuce and cabbage can be done in winter I think. Had issues with sound at times maybe invest in a separate mic maybe ? well done clearing up for winter :)
Thank you, will see if I can find some brassicas to put in. Yes, didn’t notice the sound issues when I was editing on my phone, but very clear when watching back on the tv. I normally hide behind the camera and don’t talk directly to it, just do a voice over afterwards, but if I do more like this, a little clip on microphone would definitely be a good idea 👍🏻
Nice little vlog but the sound was all over the place.
Hi Eve Yes, it definitely was! It wasn’t noticeable on my phone, but just watched on our tv and it was terrible. Thought I would try talking more to the camera rather than putting in a voice over afterwards but that hasn’t worked. Will have to invest in some kind of clip on microphone if I continue to make UA-cam videos 👍🏻
Really love your garden and watching the changes that happen all the time! Agghh. If it’s not pigeons it’s flies - such a shame but hopefully a few will continue to grow! And I just can’t believe the huge changes you’ve made at the top of the garden. It’s like a completely new garden! Absolutely amazing transformation! It’s going to be great to see how that new area progresses. Have a lovely week ahead 👍👍
Yes, so excited to see how the back area progresses now! Fingers crossed it will be easy to put up the fruit cage and we can get lots more use out of that whole space next year 😃 🥰
Hey sarah im trying to interview some channels would you be up for this as always happy gardening Richardx
Happy to learn more Richard! Happy gardening! 😊
@@SundaysInTheGarden brilliant can we schedule a live
@@RichardTaylorgardening aw, that’s not something I’m looking to do at the moment, but best of luck when you get started with them! I’m sure they’ll be great!
There is so much to do at this time of year but something comforting about making the garden winter ready. I love the Pom Pom Dahlias. It’s disappointing for you that the brussel sprouts got munched but hopefully you will have more success next year. Great job at the back of the garden which must have been such hard work! I am so looking forward to seeing the fruit cage. I am sure you will get loads of fruit in that area. ♥
Yes, I love the slower pace at this time of year. Still lots to do, but not the same rush or urgency as in spring and summer. Every season has their gifts. I will see if I can keep you some tubers from the Pom Pom dahlias and start them off in a pot for you to have next year 😊🌸 Annoying about the sprouts, but all a learning experience and I will try higher hoops next year to see if that helps 🤞🏻🤞🏻 Sooooo excited about the fruit cage! Hope it will be an easy one to put in 🤞🏻🤞🏻
@@SundaysInTheGarden thank you for offer of Dahlias ❤️
Hello Sarah Apparently the covered netting is too low. So,as the cabbage/sprouts grow, they touch the netting and the flies lay their eggs through the netting😢😢. Next year you could try higher hoops and see if that works. Good luck 💯💞
Hi Sharon This is brilliant advice, thank you 🥰 that will make a huge difference next year! I will make sure to get higher hoops/structure in place next season.
Gosh you’ve done so much work in the garden lately Love the way you’re cleared that corner and some beautiful perennials now in there! Absolutely love the Hellebores!! 😍😍
Yes, it’s all starting to come together! 🎊😍🪴So excited for the fruit cage arriving today! The hellebores are so lovely and it’s so nice to have some back in the garden again after the last ones were lost in the extension. Lots of winter interest! 😍
Looks fab Sarah ❤ Useful info for shady spots in gardens. 👍😀 Have a great week 🌻 ❤
Thank you Linda! Glad you enjoyed 😃 Have a brilliant week 😊🪴💚
@@SundaysInTheGarden 👍🌻❤️ x
I loved this episode, Sarah. That area is totally transformed isn’t it? Absolutely wonderful planting. Those hellebores are gorgeous and I love the variegation on the fern. Thank you for sharing your garden journey with us ❤
Thank you so much, Clare. Really pleased you enjoyed it 😊💚 I am hoping this area will provide lots of winter interest to contrast with my spring border further down the garden. Big transformation coming at the back of the garden soon! The fruit cage arrives tomorrow! Sooo excited! 😃🎊 Have a lovely week 🪴💚
@@SundaysInTheGarden ooo I am excited for you! Can’t wait to see it all. 🥰
Oh I love Hellebores ❤ Thats a beautiful border Sarah .
Me too! 😊 So pleased to have some back in the garden after we lost some with our house extension! Thank you, Susie 😊🪴💚
The hellebores are gorgeous.
Thank you Annie 🥰
Hi Sarah, that look's lovely, you should eventually get some nice sterile hybrids from those hellebore's. They re actually a weed for me.
Hi Ady Yes, I expect I will. We had a whole patch of hellebores near the house before we had our extension, so I’m really happy to have them back in the garden again. Funny how one man’s weed is another’s treasure. I am like that with alkanet as it takes over my garden and I hate it, but some people love it and I know the bees certainly do.
Loving the planting ideas Sarah, im about to move to a property where theyll be some shady areas, so this video was inspiring 😊
So pleased it’s been useful! I think shady gardens can be really magical if planted well! Look forward to seeing what you do with your new garden 😊🪴💚
Superbe bravo 😊
Thank you! 😊🪴💚
@@SundaysInTheGarden de rien
Another area of your garden transformed! I am surprised by the number of different plants you can chose from for a shady border. I look forward to your updates to how these plants fair in that space. ♥
Thank you! Yes, really pleased with it 😊🌿 Yes, there are lots of plants happy in shade, like we see in woodlands around the country with all the snowdrops, bluebells etc etc. Can’t wait to see how this it all develops! 😊🪴💚
Hello Sarah and family Love your new shady border plants. They've still got to bulk up so you might not have room for many more. I like the fern and brunnera best. Yes, foxglove will be an ideal plant at the back of the border💯💕
Hi Sharon Yes, you are right. I imagine they might fill this space 🤞🏻 so if I want to plant more, it may have to be to the left of them. Thinking there may be room for another heuchera or two to sneak in though 😅 but will have to see how all of these do 🤞🏻🤞🏻🌿🌿 Hope you are well and thank you so much for taking the time to comment 😊🪴💚
That is such a shame!

I did not realise that there are so many thousands of different varieties of Dahlias. Your vlog makes it easier to design a Dahlia bed based on favourite colours and personal taste. My favourites are Dikara Superb, Vassio Meggos and of course Ken’s Rarity. Thank you for showing us these and giving me another must visit place for my list. ♥
@@Sue-N.B.NatureTrailvan you should definitely get some for pots in the courtyard 🥰 and yes, Anglesey is wonderful to visit at any time of the year xxx
Oh my goodness. What an amazing display. and an amazing flower. Somehow Dahlias passed me by - I always preferred Begonias. But watching this open mouthed has changed my mind. An incredible variety. I think that no 17 Blyton Softer Gleam is my favourite. And a fascinating history too. 👍👍👍 Plus how cool to see that Kingfisher!!
@@NBNatureTrailvan the kingfisher was amazing! We watched it for about 20 minutes 😍 and the dahlias are so lovely! You should definitely get some for pots in the courtyard!
I have grown dahlias this year but panic about what to do with them in our cold wet Canadian winter as they are in pots. Lovely update Sarah ❤, Ali 🥶🌞🇨🇦

@@adysveggarden Hi Ady Yes, that was one of my favourites too! So beautiful! Totally agree with you though, the cyclamen were the stars of the show for me this year. Will go back next year for them along 😍
Hello Sarah Thank you for taking us on another beautiful tour. The dahlias are stunning. My favourite was Parkland rave and Ruskin tangerine, which seemed more red. Maybe it fades to tangerine. Your dahlias are beautiful too😮😮❤❤
Hi Sharon So pleased that you enjoyed it 😊 I love how every dahlia is so unique and we all have our own favourites and preferences.
