Don't let this happen to your pond

Black, or dark water can easily be avoided as long as you get your net on early before the leaves fall, and (the most important) you stop them from weighing it down, dipping into the water.

These two items will help you automate your pond maintenance. Not only giving you a live temperature reading on the fly, you can turn air pumps, lights, or any other thing you can plug in on and off. Schedule to turn fountains or waterfalls on only when you are present to cut down on energy costs. Turn your aerators on to help cool down your pond when it reaches a certain temperature.

How To Get Rid Of String Algae Without Harsh Chemicals
must have missed the demonstration how to attache those lights. only stated he used silicone and tape ?
Good grief,it took yall a year to rethink it 😂 im 52 and did mine in 2 days
the waterfall can oxygenate the water enough on it's own in a pond that size.
Yes that's correct, however you will need to do other things for the winter months if you choose to stop your waterfall.
@@BackyardWaterGarden true. i don't stop mine i just put a heater/de-icer in the water to keep the water from freezing so everything keeps moving.
WoodPrix has very useful instructions with all details I need
I never know how to deal with the electricity? Run an extension cord and bury it?
That's what I did. I ran an extension cord and hid it in the gravel in the bed.
what was the total cost to build, because a whole brick oven comes out very expensive
The pizza oven itself like the one in the video can be built for around $400 or so, using the materials I used. The most expensive being the fire bricks. I would have liked to have found bricks that were a bit thicker so they would hold the heat a little better. The problem was, once I started building it, I needed a place to put it and when all is said and done, with the cement and all the other things I needed the entire project cost me more like $700. But if you build it yourself, youre getting a custom built oven, just the way you want it. From what i’ve seen, the cost for that is about triple what i paid. This was one of the most fun projects ive done so far. Ive been using it nonstop since it was built, and have no regrets.
@@BackyardWaterGarden thank you, yeah I'm looking to making my own oven too just trying to see which option would best fit my budget lol
If you want a crispy dough like NY style thin crust, use high glutton flour. It's not the water that makes NY thin crust crispy it's the flour.
Thanks for the tip! Building a pizza oven is one thing, cooking in it is a whole other challenge. I haven't found the perfect dough recipe yet. I'll give the high glutton flour a try. Cheers!
I've watched a ton of pizza oven videos and this is one of the best!! I know I will be rewatching this many times until spring when I hope to build my own. Hope to see a follow up after you've used it for awhile. Thank you for this and you definitely earned a subscriber!
Thank you, that truly means a lot. It was a ton of fun to build, and the pizzas have been amazing. Good luck with your build!
Excellent 👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Yes
Wrong feed fish, cut back the amount and change over to a wheatgerm with garlic in them, no keep pump running, keep filter running you will kill all that matured bacteria in the filter
Wave Great video. 🇨🇦Appreciate the walk through. Lets me know I'm not alone 🇨🇦👋
Thanks for watching!
🇨🇦 Stunning. No gettin around the grunt work - but end result is worth it!
Really enjoyed your video concise well done! The music is fine. Don’t change it however I fill my 1000 gallon pound mark my waterline and for the first two or three days it goes down about an inch and then when it gets to a certain level about 6 inches below the normal waterline it drains rapidly overnight? Any thoughts
That's strange? You lose water slowly until it is 6" below normal, and then it drains faster? That makes no sense to me. Unless you have a large hole in your liner, and once it gets low enough for air to get it it drains faster. I don't know. Leaks can be very frustrating. I feel for you, good luck.
Just put one in our AC unit... 🤔
Good video. Just add a float switch to save the pump. I do on all my larger pumps. Pays for itself first time it runs low on water. What is a $30 float switch to a $100 pump?
What does a float switch do?
@@BecJonesAus Water gets low it shuts the pump off.
@@basilkey2949 oh yes that’s a great idea
Really quite a nice project, but I believe that the stream should be 2.5 x longer, for effective Scale within the Landscape (yard). The Trees really add a lot.
You are absolutely right. The reason it was the size that it was is because I was doing it on a budget with leftover things I had on hand. Thanks for watching.
You ruined it with the coloured lights. Now it doesn’t look natural anymore 😳
You’re not supposed to clean that filter off with the hose you’re supposed to clean it off with pond water for the reason being is the bacteria grows on that and that’s what it eats the nitrate and nitrates, and your hose has chlorine in it, and that kills the bacteria
How strong is the pump that you used on this project? Also, please tell me about the liner that you used.
The pump used is a 3000 Gph pump with a flow control. The liner is a 45 mil firestone rubber liner. If you use a liner like this, be sure to use underlayment to protect it from being punctured.
PLEASE DO NOT ADD MUSIC TO ANY DIY VIDEO. RUINED WITH EXCESSIVE SOUND. UNWATCHABLE.
How much it will cost
How is the tree doing after having such a large root cut?
It's thriving stronger and healthier than ever!
I have a bunch of bamboo in my back yard and the roots is a network underground. I cant dig because the ground is to hard and compact because of those roots. I need an above ground reservoir- Any ideas?
You could build the outside using bricks and mortar, then line it with a pond liner. Idk, you will have to get creative. Good luck.
Why is it in the ground.. how did that hold up
Omg! What’s her sign!?😂
I need a nap. Kudos for seeing it through to the end. You had a vision and it happened. Cheers
Yes
How do u add automatic water filler
Do you run the water out for winter? I live in Wisconsin, the water freezes here.
Is there a way to clean or disinfect these for the birds?
Can you tell me a/b your water fall? It's fantastic.
I was thinking a milk crate in a lined hole with a screen over it to hold the smaller rocks. Has to be cheaper!
Yes, the fastest way is to hire a professional 😂😂😂😂😂
“They scream elegance and class” 😂😂😂 It’s pretty but it’s just a rock with some water on it.
You're not wrong! lol!
won't all that dead rotting algae now throw off the pond balance?
Most of it winds up in the skimmer box
What pump are you using?
it's a variable speed pump, with a max flow rate of about 3000 GPH
It looks real, and that is priceless!!!
Thank you.
Well done
Thanks!
Cool man I like you're making videos on your koi pond keep them coming 👍
Thanks 👍
Very informative learned a few thinks
Glad to hear it!
Instead of that pipe/bucket combo, use an old plastic milk crate. Just turn it upside down and boom, you got a housing for your pump. You can run your piping through it and put rocks on top and it won't bother your pump set up one bit. And regardless of any of that, your end product turned out spectacular!
That's great advice. I will do that the next time I do a clean out on the stream. Thanks!
Very serene ,beautiful
It really is!
Lovely video. I'm making a stream in my garden
Good luck with your project!
I I have a Doberman
I've got a question if you don't have any Outlets can you do something with a solar panel or something period and would you happen to know of any you can use with a solar panel
I don't have much experience with solar panels, but I'm sure there are some on the market that would work. You would have to do some research to see which would work best for your application.
You could tie a mesh bag in that pump
Or put the whole bucket in a mesh bag.
Those plastic AquaBasins start at, like, $300!!! Nice that it can hold some weight -- and I assume long lasting? -- but ridiculously overpriced.
Yes, they are pricey. If look around you may be able to find a more cost affective alternative.
I hated the look of pond foam I used on my waterfall. I took a propane torch and heated it after it dried. It melted the top so that it looked natural and blended with the rock.
Thats a great idea, I've heard of people doing that. Does it blend in better than the grey waterfall foam?
@@BackyardWaterGarden Yes
Awesome❤
Thanks!
