Really nice song and as always, a wonderful interpretation Steve! Man ,what a sweet sounding uke, and the lovely picking arrangement really allows it to shine ~
heartbreaking and real. you sure have some brilliant songs up your sleeve mate.
Gorgeous Steve. I dint’t know how one makes it through a song like this without stopping for a tissue.
Yup… stellar funeral toon! 👍
A great song and so well performed. Thanks Steve!
Nice! 😊
Love the rhythm you've got cooking here, Steve! A gem of a song!
@@turtledrum7386 thanks Linda! They wrote some great pop songs.
A perfect song! Brilliant stuff, Steve.
@@bobjking thanks Bob
I love this one! And it's a great ukulele song too, of course. Excellent stuff.
@@lambda_miner_edwin Cheers Edwin!
Great stuff!
@@kolibriuker1297 thank you!
Thankyou, very much how I remember my elderly Grandfather singing this song in the early 1960s accompanied with his Banjo Mandolin.
Always love the songs you bring Steve, and I'm pretty confident I've learned more new music from you than anyone else here on the seasons. Sounding brilliant and so smooth on the vocals !~
@@kevingriffin9893 thanks Kevin. Probably my favourite band from that era.
Big smile here, classic punk pop.
@@Bystander929 thanks for the listen.
Playing and singing top notch. Good song that.
@@jp888then thank you kind Sir.
Er, well, yes ... er, no! Great stuff, Steve!
@@limousinlil And it's a yes from me too.
Still a stonkingly brilliant pop song even after all these years. Great choice Steve 👍
@@PGUke Isn't it just? Never tire of hearing it.
keep rockin oldtimer, I love it
Absolutely beautiful.
Why am I not surprised you chose a Buzzcocks song? And I’m even less surprised that you made such a great job of it! Thanks, Steve! :-)

@@MrSjpsjptook me a second or so that one 😂
This needs to be on Radio 2's Christmas playlist! Brian wrote a cracker here and you bring it so well, Steve. That strum really drives it along. Brilliant.
@@bobjking The Daily Mail would explode. Let's ask Michael Ball to play it next year.
That's really lovely playing. Beautiful.
@@bobjking Cheers Bob
There are so many great Christmas songs that you never hear on the radio! This is one of them. Merry Christmas, Steve!
@@bobjking Yes, imagine if they replaced Wham with this, and Slade with Tread Softly To The Stable. I could live with that.
🧡
fantastic song and so well done Steve. incredible songwriter. fellow Nick Lowe fan representing.
@@singtomeofautumnleaves Cheers Jon, and a Happy Christmas to you and Joo.
Excellent version.
@@kolibriuker1297 thank you
Glad to hear this one be added to the annual traditional repertoire. Thanks for bringing this Paoriginal Steve, it sound great.

@@desertpavement510 thanks!
Nicely done Steve. You have an adorable tree as well
@@desertpavement510 Artificial, unfortunately, but at least I won't have pine needles in my car for the next year.
This is a good song, and I like how you played it too.
@@Renaissance-Man-Ukulele thanks for listening
👏👏👏👏👏 100%
@@PGUke 👍👍👍
Lovely Steve. I was telling Sabine I have yet to do this beautiful song and it may have to wait til next year.
@@PGUke oh yes, you have to join the Tread Softly club.
You can rely on Nick Lowe to write a fab nativity song with his own stamp on it. Great stuff Steve. There is a slight “If I Only Had A Brain” tinge to this.
@@PGUke he definitely borrowed that bit.
I caught that too. Glad I’m not hearing things
@@desertpavement510 great minds and all that Andy 😂
For reasons (which I'm sure is as good an explanation as any) I've just stumbled on this, and it was delightful :).

@@OnlyUkeThatMatters thanks for doing your own version of this one, which gave me a clue on how to play it.
Good one, Steve. I don't know if I heard Brian's original version, but the message is still relevant, so thanks for introducing me to it.
@@ukeanflute Brian has several versions on UA-cam, with a different verse or two.
The picking has a very peaceful and relaxing effect. Your vocal gives it just enough gravitas, Steve. Beautiful!
@@ukeanflute thank you!
brought so well Steve - bigots on church pews give me the poops - but i'm pretty sure he wouldn't be that welcome in egypt now either
@@pabrizzer yes, we have them here. I'll keep your song in my locker in case I meet one.
STEVE!!! You are being political! It's a great song of Brian's and I enjoyed your version.
@@limousinlil Oops, I'll get back to happy clappy stuff...
@@MrSjpsjp I was only thinking that she had a reputation for using strong words when her playing didn't go as she wanted ... nothing to do with your performance, Steve; which was lovely!
Thank you Steve and Brian. Often forgotten.

Like a familiar Christmas decoration. Lovely, Steve.
@@cdoesthehula cheers Chris.
I think Lesley would be so pleased to know that we're bringing this out every year ... lovely, Steve!
@@limousinlil I hope she likes the way we do it. Probably chuckling to herself and saying "they get the tune wrong every year"
@@MrSjpsjp So long as she's not saying any "rude words"!

Great song and setting Steve! More than half of the songs I've listened to are hardly known if not entirely new. Always been a fan of Nick Lowe, so I'm not surprised how much I like this one and your take on it is fantastic
@@kevingriffin9893 Thanks Kevin. Every year I hear half a dozen new Christmas songs and think "next year I'll do that..." Then I forget...
