This movie had some of the first cgi animals. (Not including the owl from labyrinth) That's why the monkeys look so weird.

I admit, the Genie is not the same without Robin Williams, and the animation is nowhere near the quality of the first movie, which are qualities that the third movie improves on. However, the qualities that I feel this movie beats the third one in are the stakes and scale, which is why I felt fascination towards this movie as a child and are why I still prefer this movie over the third one, even if I do agree that the third movie is an excellent finale to this story.

I like this ending better...he was estranged from his wife as the story progresses the flashbacks after their daughter had passed...almost like they were going to divorce, but he realizes how he practically left his wife to grieve alone, survives and decides no more ghost stories. That is why I feel it is more impactful. Killing him off, albeit is a great alternate ending but not the right one IMO, and just robs the character of moving on past a traumatic event...and it's just depressing as hell. Plus he delivers one of the most 🔥 lines, "sometimes you can't get rid of bad memories, you just gotta to learn to live with them."

Fun fact: even as a kid i wonderred "What's pulling the chariot in the last shot?" Nobody's riding horses in the cartoon, as that'd raise a lot of sentient animal questions haha.

EVERYONE says they miss that scratchy drawn style... but unless people start paying for theatre tickets to go see them, like people COULD have with Frog or Pooh in the 2010's-11's, they won't spend money on it. OR even just start giving them high subscription numbers if they went straight to streaming. The frustrating part is it's like a THIRD that cost of CGI...

I disagree. The 3d animation doubled the film cost as contributed to the films failure. They should have just picked one or the other styles. Plus, as technology progresses so rapidly, 3d dates itself fair too quickly. There are 1950s sci-fi movies that still hold up today because they used practical effect, while many 3d movies a few years old look dated and cheesy today.

This movie always caused me issues as a kid - i have arachnophobia but loved the spider once she's animated 😅 Speaking of may i make a reccomendation? The old Rakin&Bass '77 Hobbit cartoon. Terrifying and magnificent. I think you'll like. And the old disney Ichibod (sleepy hollow) cartoon
