Playing it by ear, so I had the privilege of mixing lead with rhythm where I felt stronger, I've also added few notes of personal touch here and there so please do not consider this as a classical cover - it's more like a tribute to the song that unexpectedly cannot get out of my head. Amazing melody. As usual, there are few false notes here and there, seems to be my unique signature... Tuning: Eb

How about "good enough" cover of "Sixcalibur" song? That sick solo is obviously waaay beyond my league so please forgive any missed, false or faked notes - I'm playing maybe half of the actual notes and still struggling 🥲 To me this song is probably the best motivation to learn how to shred properly. Yet another "play by ear" exercise. Originally played on 7-string guitar, but it's also possible to play on 6-string baritone. To use 6-string guitar the solo had to be rearranged a little (and luckily for me, simplified). Enjoy! Tuning: a#/bb-surdly low (A# Standard/Bb Standard)

    Great cover. Is it comfortable to you to play this on right thigh? In the past I didn't liked how Explorer shape forces me to really specific and unnatural (for me) hand position and I guess it would be the same with Warrior, as it have such arm. My Jackson King V taught me to always play on left thigh and now even Explorer is for me really comfortable, on left thigh I have absolutely free right hand, I can place it as I wish

    • @avalan_che
      @avalan_che 28 днів тому

      I wouldn't dare saying star-shapes or V's are built for comfort ;) When switching from strats my right arm always feels awkward because of the support under the elbow. After some time human body accommodate and the arm find correct position. It's not visible on this video (it was recorded so long ago...) but I tend to lay my forearm in a kind of narrow X shape along the upper part of the guitar - this way I keep consistent arm resting position for strat and warrior. As for keeping guitar on right thigh in my experience it only takes a little effort to get used to bend the right arm a little behind the back. Guitar on the left thigh forces me to bend half of my body, so that's why I prefer the other one, I guess. As I love V's I'm too afraid to try playing on those shapes just because due to limited support it's almost impossible to keep it stable on right leg, especially without a strap 😅 Anyway, thanks for the comment, now you made me think about finally trying V's 🤘

    • @zapiexa4947
      @zapiexa4947 27 днів тому

      @@avalan_che I'm aware that most people think and says that V's are absolutely uncomfortable but I've never had problem, even when I first played Epiphone Flying V somehow I knew how to hold it. The most important thing you must realise is you have to hold the bottom arm of guitar body between legs, then you can play really comfortable. A strap is useful but not necessary - it will keep neck a bit higher. I'm pointing that because once I saw my brother trying to hold it like casual guitar but in case of V's it just look ridiculus and doesn't work well. So if you wanna give it a chanse - don't even try to put it on right leg XD I'm not sure how it is with Randy Rhoads style, where bottom arm is much smaller. Idk if it will stay in place between legs, but it works for Flying V or King V. I think V's are worth to try, especially when you like apperance of that shape. Just remember my small advices and maybe check if you don't have any V guitars in local music shops. Btw if you wanna buy Jackson JS32 King V, as I have, I recommend to move one of strap hook closer to the neck. In it's original position, just behind neck bolts it's not really well ballanced so neck is diving. If you move it, it will be more stable, maybe in more expensive Jackson series it's better placed

    What size strings do you use on yours? The salesman told me it uses regular 10-46 strings, but I’m not sure that’s right.

    • @avalan_che
      @avalan_che Місяць тому

      When I bought mine it had pretty much the same strings, tens or nines, I don't remember exactly, but it was tuned to E so the regular strings made sense. The thing is when you start using as low tunings as B the regular strings are getting too loose, so I've changed the strings to baritone 13-62.

    Great cover and tone man! Question: During the choruses, i noticed you use the low b string, but every tab i find don't use it. Is it a personal choice to make it heavier or thats how kenny does it?

    • @avalan_che
      @avalan_che Місяць тому

      hah! nice catch :) it's my personal touch, and since i've been aiming to get as deep sound as i could i was tempted to go as low as the bass - hence the low b string

      Consider this to be just a start of learning :) I recorded this right after they published the song, without putting a lot of time into validating if it's played correctly and clearly, so it's perfectly reasonable to question everything you see/hear there: starting from if I really played all the notes, through played notes accuracy, to used tuning. Anyway, I'm so glad recording this not only was a pleasure for me, but someone actually found it useful (to some degree) 🤘

If you see this, could you PLEASE shed some light on how you achieved the tone for the “inside of her” “feel her god” clean part of the song before the solo? • @avalan_che
      @avalan_che 5 місяців тому

      Thanks! I've uploaded the clean preset (www.tone.net/amplitube/presets/52950 ) although keep in my mind that the recorded clean sound is a result of overlaying my tone on top of original acoustic one. I haven't found any other way to have the real acoustic mixture of cleanliness and sharpness coming through AmpliTube so I just embraced the defeat and tried to enrich the original sound. If you find a way to get closer to the original tone (either with or without my tone) you HAVE to let me know :)

    How do you record your covers and audio? Just curious. Still trying to learn and decide what I want to do. AS for now, I just use a mic up to my speakers. That's it. Simple and lazy method lol

    • @avalan_che
      @avalan_che 6 місяців тому

      I'm a completely biased towards digitalized signals (for better or for worse), so the setup is as follows: - guitar connected via iRig HD2 to PC/Mac (iRig 2 works too and is crazy cheap) - tone modeler, like AmpliTube etc so we can shape the guitar signal - if using a PC: ASIO4ALL driver and a sound loopback enabled (this requires substantial amount of time to set up) - loopback needed to mix 2 sound signals, one from guitar and the other from YT/Spotify/whatever you use for music playback) - if Mac: BlackHole audio loopback driver - to get the same ability as with PC: to mix multiple inputs into a single output we can record - this is my preference as its dead easy to setup up - a recorder (audio+video) - here I use OBS to actually listen for guitar signal (after it gets through iRig and AmpliTube) AND for music playback and treat it as a single recording this setup is not ideal though, it's introducing a bit of latency (some people say that even "a bit" is too much) so if you care for the natural, organic feel of playing more than the freedom to shape the sound to your liking, the "simple and lazy" mic setup might be a lot better. Usually the simple things are superior, so don't throw your method out so easily :)
