RIVER PIKE Popped Up Ledger SUCCESS | THAL 004
Welcome back * Please view more *
So in todays episode we head out with 1 rod with the idea of peg hopping and staying mobile which ends in success! The idea of this Series ( The Highs and Lows ) is to show just how hard rivers are. I upload every session I head to the river targeting pike, This includes all the blanks to demonstrate how many hours it can take to hook up.
We used a popped up Ledger rig in todays session in the hopes of avoiding Crayfish 🦞, This is a very effective way but it does not mean you will avoid them 100% because they can and do sometimes pull the trace down.
As you can see the pike we land was a very unusually way of hooking up. What happened was I could see the rod tip Knocking and I was thinking it was crayfish 🦞 but what was actually happening is that a pike was ‘playing’ with the bait.
To understand this more I highly recommend The Ginger Fisherman video Underwater float ledger as it really opened my eyes to what is happening under water.

Whip Fishing - BIG Roach Tips for bagging up
Переглядів 10 тис.11 місяців тому
On the Bankside today we head to the local canal with a 4mtr whip in hand. Half a pint of maggots and groundbait did the trick this evening on the local canal. 4mtr whip flick tip makes some great fun and surprisingly cheap fishing. Keep trickling in those loose maggots anywhere from 4-10 at a time to keep a steady feed and then I used groundbait topping up every 15 minutes or so to keep the ro...
Big Perch Lost! | Perch Patrol Ep 3
Переглядів 285Рік тому
Welcome to Episode 3 of Perch Patrol With only 1 hour of time to fish straight after work I headed out to the canal landing 2 and loosing 2 big perch! Time wasn’t the only thing I was battling today as the wind was really putting up a fight and keeping a tight line and feeling for those bites proved rather difficult resulting in quite a few missed bites. Set Up: Rod - LMAB La Moustique 2-10g Re...

Welcome back all { Please Read More } The Highs and Lows - In this series I show you just how hard river dead baiting can be, uploading every session I go on… It’s not a case of every session you catch 4-5 pike it’s a case of you can easily go 4-5 or even more sessions without a single fish, But what I want to get across is NEVER let the blanks put you off from trying and that goes ESPECIALLY w...

Boilie Making - Test Batch No 2 - 5 Egg Mix
How can you make them sink instead of float ? Thanks !
As long as you don’t use any pop up mixture in the ingredients they will sink. They all float as you boil them but once dried they sink. 🎣
I have some thin foam tubing and cram that inside my dead bait and it works fantastic, coupled with elastic banding to secure the fish to my trebles
Also a great idea! I sometimes use my own balsa sticks and insert them into the mouth and down the throat 🎣
If that gets ingested by a pike. It would block it digestive tract and the pike will slowly starve to death. Little wonder why the population of big pike are in decline. Have you ever considered that?
I have considered that thank you, which is why I recommended in the video that you tie it to the trace when tying the trace up.
I use the plastic balls in Guinness cans... I have lotsa spares... 🙄..😂👍☘️🍺 Subbed and liked btw... 😉
Great idea! Thank you I appreciate the support
Well done good advice
Don't need this mate just live bait only thing you need for pike no need for all this to many hooks to much metal going on 1 single hook throught the mouth of a live bait done
Made some of these and used them yesterday. Caught my first 20lb pike on a popped up sardine. Cheers for the tips 👍🎣
Thank you very much for taking the time to come back to the video to comment and let me know. I’m glad it helped and congratulations on the 20lber.. Tight lines!
This guy doesn’t get much action 😂🥶
Ya telling me! 🤣
A small waggler is also brilliant on the whip if there's alot of wind to deal with.
Can have some great fun on the whips, and a brilliant way to get the younger generation involved
Best fishing fun, use one all the time in Scotland. I'll always use a whip if I can, even up to 8mtrs. Have a mate who was fishing one like a fly dapping style on the wee Highland trout lochs. Piscatoruk
What size is your circle hooks great video
Thank you!! It varies depends on the size of bait I use, I’ll start with a 1/0 usually and then go bigger or smaller depending on bait choice
You can get a 5.5mtr whip made by discover and it costs £30 👍
Only been around for 20 odd years.
Correct it has but it’s like everything else isn’t it, new things come along and old ones get forgotten about
@@BanksideFishing basically I didn't find your post insightful, I have been using pva for years. Maybe someone new to angling would get something from it
@@StephenMedhurst-tz2cw which is exactly why I make these videos, for beginners to learn from 👍
Awesome video. Well done on that big old perch ! . Made me proud lad!
Do you make your own floats
Once you set the hooks and if the fish throws the bait, woudn't you loose the pop up rig?
You would yes but that is why I recommend you use bait floss to the the shank :)
A small square of elastic band can help keep the popper loop on the treble.. 😎👍☘️🍺
I put a bait flag on to stop the popper coming off, never lost one yet
I use same rig just with slightly different change. The trace I use is roughly 2.5ft-3ft long and the loop on the kebab ‘boom’ is looped over the trace swivel and slid down to trebles before tieing my trace to mainline. Good concept and worked for years, yet very few people use it 👍🏻
Like that thx
Unlucky mate! Nice looking fish that was
Sorry bud . It did make me chuckle a bit lol. Always a next time !
Slipped and slid down those banks but was a great session 👌🏼 congrats on the PB lure fish mate
Awesome session! Well Deserved ! . Congrats on new lure PB!
That rig looks really good and very attractive for a fish if they do smell baits and oils specially in a windy day with the current and wind blow the smell about 😉 if anyone has any success of big mamma's take these let us know folks
Great vid mate new to piking and this is a brilliant tip... trips tricks and handy hints mate 👌
Hope it helps mate! Tight lines buddy 🎣
Apologies if I missed any mention of an uptrace, but with a short bait trace like this an uptrace is essential with this type of rig to eliminate a potenial 'bite off'
Absolutely agree! You are correct I did forget to mention that! I will pin your comment to the top for everyone to see
Excellent filming & shows your enthusiasm brilliantly 👍
Good quality information
Awesome vid mate can't wait to try that rig at some point !
Soon hopefully!
Hopefully another deadbaiting session soon. Was nice sitting down and relaxing , having a bru 🔥
Nothing beats a brew 👌
Awesome session that mate. 👍
Thank you, appreciate it 🎣
Yes what pop mix do I need mate
This was the Mainline Polaris pop up mix :)
Yes plz do a video on other bait hemp and pellets ect plz
No truer words 👏
😀 𝕡𝕣𝕠𝕞𝕠𝕤𝕞
Easy to follow, simple and not over complicated! Another top video👌🎣
Nice 1 fella, thats why its called fishing and not catching lol, been fishing since i was a kid and ive never targeted or caught Pike so im intrigued. 👍
Completely agree, people will see the highs and the lows during this river series, very good sport are pike mate especially in a river fighting the flow as well.. and who knows ? In a river the next thing you hook could be a lifetime pike! Tight lines mate thank you for the nice comment
What Ingredients for this mix
did you watch it???
@@matthewcadle7200 I watch it mate

Done well mate I like to know more about the ingredients what you use in the video plz
Cut the tubing down a little bit so it can side it over easier
What cc Moore did you use plz I like to make my own boilies and hook bait
Có bán cái khay vê viên đó không bạn
I always use the left overs as paste wrap too, it leaks flavour during its faster breakdown than the skinned boilie or use the left over paste around cork balls for pop ups.
Yeah, if you want to match the hatch then definitely use the left over for some pop ups. I have used left over before as a paste on the local river with great success so it’s always worth saving
Hi can you help me please
Hi, yes sure. What you need help with?
@@BanksideFishing I am looking to use pva bags I have never used them b4 I have supernatural hook link would that be ok to use
@@chrisnortcliffe3663 so the supernatural is a really subtle and soft braid so that wouod be perfect, just remeber to keep you hook length short.
@@BanksideFishing what rig would u recommend please
@@chrisnortcliffe3663 simple hair rig using a wafter mate, trap the hair on the shank of the hook using some hook silicone and youll be good to go
Great content mate that has give me some ideas on what to do now thanks
Thanks mate i appreciate it, Tight lines buddy!
will you send me the recipe so that I can try and make them myself
👌👍
Great video. Would u use a PVA bag with heavy silt?
Hi sorry for the late response, as to heavy silt i would most certainly be using a helicopter rig.. This allows the lead to bury in the heavy silt upon impact but also leaves the rig perfectly presented.
how many boilies will you get from this
