It sounds like oran
Bro has the limited edition Gretchen Ludwig combo kit 😂
Hah! I need to get a Ludwig reso head!
Outside off set ideal in this recording. I learned from a pro to not to mic the kick so close. The soundwaves from low end need enough space to travel to the mic
Old School is the best school!
sounds great !!!
Could you do a shootout between your two API rack pre's? Maybe on kick, and snare, OH's or something? No pressure, but would just be curious, and also to even hear the 3:1 setting on the V's also if possible.
I'll see what I can do! I'm sure they are very similar. I haven't ever tried the 3:1 setting to be honest! I should see how it sounds.
@@kylekrysadrums Sick man! Ya, exactly, I'm sure they are super close. Also, because the V has the O/P pot, I'm pretty sure theres not actually any differences per say in the O/P path itself, but that said, I've always been curious where one would set the O/P to make it virtually match the C know what I mean? I think the V, and the C are listed as having both 65DB of gain if I'm not mistaken, so by that logic I think for them to be the same in gain structure on the O/P the O/P of the V would need to be full up, so I believe that it's just there to act purely as an attenuator. Then the 3:1 just affects the turns ratio of the O/P transformer which will affect how it saturates/colours the signal. I dunno if it will also in turn raise the volume, or lower it, or if it's more or less the same, but that will be obv. I'm pretty sure it's sort of loading the transformer a bit more so it's a bit more saturated sounding type thing, but I'd suggest using it creatively along with the input, and output to see what kind of cool sounds you can get. I bet on a snare, or something if you have the 3:1 in, it might be more apparent if you also drive the input, and attenuate the O/P. I bet you'd be able to get some cool, more harmonically rich, sort of slightly overdriven sounds on stuff with it, or say on a kick, or something, it might affect the low end in low end in a cool way, but I've never heard it, or tried it, but just been thinking of getting some API's for awhile now, but not sure if I'd want the V, or the C, that's why I'm kinda curious. TBH, one thing also that I've never really understood about the C's, is why people say they don't have enough headroom on stuff like Kick, and snare. That whole thing has never made much sense to me, or were they just bitching that they'd prefer to have an O/P attenuator built in so they could drive them harder? LOL
Would you be willing to share this sample homie?
For sure. It's actually on my website in my store as a free sample download!
So how do you like the ATM-25's? I got mine to use for inside kick, as it's obv a bit notorious for that, but heard great things on toms, and even guitars. Have you just used your's on toms mainly for recording, or do you like it on kick in ever? Also, do you often place your kick in mic off to the side, and pointing away from the beater like in this video? That actually sounded really good considering how off axis, and angled away from the beater it was hah. I'd love to see you do a video on tuning your kick for rock etc. Just curious how you like to approach your head relationship in terms of batter tighter, or Reso tighter, or same, and just what you generally go for in terms of general tension on each head.
Hey! I'm a big fan of the ATM 25s-I actually own four of them. I pretty much always use one as my kick drum inside mic. Recently, I started trying them on my toms and have been impressed, though I still think the kick is where they really shine. I've noticed it gives my kick a more natural and less hyped sound than my other mics. For my setup, I usually place the ATM just inside the kick drum’s port hole, pointed straight forward. This positioning is usually a bit off-axis, aimed somewhere between the beater and the drum edge. If I want a punchier sound with more attack, I’ll move the mic further inside but keep it angled off-axis. I actually picked up this technique from Terry Date-I've always loved his drum sounds, especially how punchy his kick comes through. He uses ATMs on all the toms and the kick, with the mic on the kick aimed straight in, slightly off-axis from the beater. I basically borrowed that setup, haha. When it comes to tuning for rock, I keep it simple. I tune the batter head just enough to get the wrinkles out, then tune the resonant head slightly higher and add muffling to taste. For a modern, punchy sound, I like it tuned loose with plenty of muffling. If I'm going for a classic rock vibe, I'll tune it a bit higher with less dampening.
Sick man!!! Those sound pretty badass! I just scored two Pearl Wood/FG rack toms at the thrift store for $5 each, and the were pretty mint. Can't wait to try them. Was thinking they might sound good as concert tom style too!
St anger snare
I used to have a set of all 8 (6-16) pearl fiberglass concert toms. I just picked up a pair (8 & 10) fiberglass pearl concert toms. I'd ideally like to find a 12 & 14, or 15 to complete it. I'll have a regular floor tom and bass drum.
Should try muffling rings, like the ones made out of old drumheads.
I didn't know this was discontinued already. Sad. Maybe too expensive.
I rocked this kit for many years! Loved it.
Thx
What is the mount for the tom called
"Rail consolette" You can use a modern era Ludwig ATLAS mount. ;)
Thank you
The SMURFF beater is great for SLAYER and METALLICA.
K-ON!! <3
I like bandana
Sounds great! Those ghost notes are perfect.
ёба++й в рот..как же сочно. Интересно как обходились без гейта в 60х?
Sounds amazing, one thing i noticed is the bass is really present in the mix, even in phone speakers, how did u achieve that?
i used to have a maxwin kit in black ... i ended up giving it away as a kid ! silly me
Just for fun, this is how I processed it to taste. drive.google.com/file/d/1sKqF5sElsJeO37oadXaYwi4xIxCdrmhX/view?usp=sharing
Link does not working 😢
What model is the mic?
It's an ATM 25
Ive been trying to get their soun! Toutorial please!
That work tho !!!!!
Must have 18" subs with dual 15"s and horns in order to achieve sonically acceptable stage to audience heart thumping sound. Anything less is pure nonsense anything more is just responsible behavior
Now move it about a foot back! It’s amazing what placement can do.
man! pretty close, loved that sound, as a limp bizkit fan, loved this video, dope AF.
so basically the softer the beater, the deeper and, um, maybe richer? the sound I was looking for this
I once placed the microphone in the kick drum during a band rehearsal because we didn't have a spare microphone stand and pointed it towards the head, away from the drums. In between there was approximately 1cm. There was some reverb in the mixer and it sounded amazingly good and crispy deep. 👌🤘
Perfect. I hope I can get something close to this with only 4 mics 😂 Do you have overheads? I’m thinking I can do 1 WA47jr overhead, sm57 on snare, beta 52 on kick, sm53 as knee mic to get a little more kick sound and some of the low end from my two toms
That would work! I did use overheads for this (KM184'S).
We have different definitions of drastic😅 but that's neat
honestly the bigger/softer the fatter from what i can tell from this
Awesome break
Anyone else instantly hearing Pearl Jam ‘Go!’ Whilst watching?
What’s inside the bass drum? Sounds great!!!
There's a towel inside, maybe two. I can't remember!
Love this!
Thanks!
Condensor?
Yep, AKG 451
@@kylekrysadrums was a joke its called condensEr
The bad news of Christianity is that we are all sinners 1 John 1:8 says “if we say we have no sin we deceive ourselves and truth is not in us” sin is just disobeying gods law and destroying gods creation so me personally I’ve sinned alot I have stolen things and hated other and I’m not perfect and I still make mistakes Roman’s 6:23 says “for the wages of sin is death but the gift of god is eternal life through Jesus Christ our lord” So bad news is we’re all sinners and the penalty of sin is death and hell but the good news is The good news (gospel) is that Jesus Christ who is Perfect died for our sins was raised up on the third day and only through Jesus can you be saved you can’t save yourself and when we truly believe and have faith in Christ god will change our heart we will want to love god and obey god and put god first and produce fruits of the spirt like love joy peace kindness etc so what I’m saying is true faith in Christ will result in a changed life And in order for us to accept gods gift of salvation we have to believe in it this is no causal belief but one from the heart and it has to be so strong it makes us hate our sin and actively turn away from it (how can we be saved from sin but still love it) and Christians call that repentance the Holy Spirit leads us to repentance and you can be forgiven of all your sins cause of Jesus and he is the only way to heaven
Fat snare sounds are so over rated
Yea, it's a popular sound at the moment too.
As you move it inside the kick drum you also loose some of the high frequencies from the Hi-hat and the snare
beyond helpful
I like it where it’s right about your head cuz it sounds closer to what you the drummer actually here
Elliot Hoffman has that snare for Car Bomb. Such a legendary snare! It smacks so hard in Hellfest.
#4 for me :)
offset sounds the best imo
