I know that you specifically requested that we refrain from making certain kinds of comments but I am having trouble understanding why. It seems fairly important. I get that trusting in God is good and can give you a kind of internal peace. But shouldn't what we do matter too? Shouldn't we want more than just peace internally?

Very nice! If I want to get an NKJV again, this Mclaren will be the first I look for, even in Leathersoft. Its one of the very nicest typesettings. I received my NASB 2020 Wide Margin Reference genuine leather recently. I decided on that after I considered translation, build and price. I watched a few review video reviews, to get a good idea of both the cover and the typesetting. Its a thicker Bible, probably heavier than most would like, but I really wanted it after considering all the factors. It has a nice, proper cowhide leather cover (not pigskin, I mean wut?!) It has 32gsm paper (Lockman moved production of the NASB 2020 to South Korea, probably because 316 Publishing prints the LSB there 🤷‍♂) And the typesetting is a 10pt size single column, verse-by-verse, beautifully designed with 2K/Denmark. It has a nice set of features besides the great Scripture text too. Great value for the price.

the story of job is great. A god has to show off like a besotted schoolgirl to its supposed archenemy. So this god allows satan to murder a family, doing nothing, and becoming an accessory to murder. Then this god throws a temper tantrum when Job questions its stupidity. Finally, this god has to pay off Job with a "new" family and money. Wonder how many of these GoodChristians(tm) would accept a new family and money for their old one? That shows just how selfish and ignorant they are. and poof goes the common christian claim of "free will" as soon as any christian claims "god is ultimately in charge".

What's your opinion on the RSV in general? I use the RSV2CE as my main translation and I'm highly considering getting an RSV but I'd like to hear your opinion first.

The NASB Thinline!

We use the ESV for readings and sermons in our congregation. I recommend starting at a level below your rwading level as a "starter Bible" and working theirvway toward the ESV.

Not that anyone asked, but here are my favorite translations 😂 1. NKJV - I find myself preferring the traditional text and slightly more Anglo Saxon vocabulary. 2. NASB 2020 - This replaced the ESV for me, which I find awkward. 3. CSB - This translation got me back to daily Bible reading four years ago when I was going through a personal hardship. 4. BSB - More traditional gender language than the CSB, but fewer options as far as layouts and covers. 5. EHV - The newest translation on my list. *Honorable mention: MEV - A literal, but modern update to the King James. Might be a dead translation? The translation team has promised an update for years, but we're all still waiting lol.

Great message brother. I would agree with your assessment that actions taken even with good intentions can be sinnful. God does take intention into account, but like you said sin is still sin. There are sins we commit that we are oblivious to, yet held accountable for. For this reason, we have Christ. Since we live in a fallen world, sometimes righteous actions with righteous intentions still result in 'evil' or destructive outcomes. For this reason, we have the perfect judge.
