Also, one other side note. I was thinking in the moment that Aemond wouldn’t interfere once he saw Aegon come flying in. It would’ve been just fine for him to stay put, knowing Rhaenys would likely kill him. And he accomplishes basically what he wanted to happen anyway.

Yoooo. Loving the ep so far, but needed to quickly make a comment and then get back to work. I fully support not watching the previews for next weeks eps. BUUUUUT....after the previews, there's about a 5-10 min video after each episode with actors, producers, directors, show runners that give super valuable context and information about that episode. Not in a spoiler'y way or anything, just thought processes about why something happened. I honestly think those could REALLY help you guys in the recap eps. Sometimes there's just things that they explain in those that you guys talk about in your recap and I'm sitting there thinking they'd not be speculating about this particular thing if they'd watched that. Not meaning to negatively critique or anything, just thought it'd be helpful. Love the pod, keep up the great work. :) PS, hope you guys are watching The Boys this season, because HOLY HELL is it just as wild as ever.

Given the lack of forward momentum on several story fronts, they definitely should have called it Season 3: Part 1. Also on point about the scene with Carmy and David very much has the same vibe as the elevator scene with Don and Ginsberg. The first thing that sprung to mind when he said 'I think about you too much.' Not necessarily a bad thing, but at the same time you don't want your show to remind people of others in the moment. The whole Sydney thing also doesn't make a lot of sense. Why is this other Chef offering her the world exactly? Before joining Carmy at the Beef she had minimal practical experience in Kitchens. It's felt like a weak plot contrivance by the writers.

There are a few good rpg games better than tell tale.. crusader kings 2 game of thrones expansion is a great one...

In the books they use the nanofibers because even if they hit the harddrive they would cut it so finely that it would be easily reasembled. I haven't quite reached the slicing scene in the book yet but I expect the ship's pieces to stay as one for this plan to make sense, otherwise the resulting crash could destroy the harddrive. The importance of the cult for the Santi is probabluly not very high in their own view. Ye Wenji offered to help the Santi in their conquest of earth in her original reply and there was no reason not to use this source of intel right until it proved itself unreliable. They might have hoped that a wide spread acceptance of the cult's beliefs throughout the hundreds of years it'll still take them to reach earth might render a conquest easier or even unnessecary but they switch over to fear tactics very quickly so it's unlikely that they felt like they had to rely on the cult in any way. The sophons are doing pretty much all of the work until the wallfacer programm is started in episode 8 and they reinstate contact with one of their followers, probably as a direct counter to the wallfacer program which has been designed to evade the intel and influence the Santi have through their sophons and current understanding of humans.

Let's just say everything happening has a proper payoff. The author of this saga worked as a computer engineer at a water dam and he wrote the trilogy at night when after his day job's over. Cixin Liu is complete opposite of GRRM in a sense. GRRM more or less just let his story develop however it may lead (also kind of creates a problem for him on how to wrap it up...) but Cixin Liu already has an ending set in stone when he started his first page. I know it's cliche to say this but you are not going to predict how this ends.

Ye wenji did change her perspective. She said to the Santi that it’s all her fault, that she damned the world all because of her old beliefs. She says even though she’s old and lost everything she’s still got a few ideas left in her (to correct her wrongs)… where in the future, the humans might actually have a fighting chance or no fight at all (as in Santi won’t even get the chance to fight). In regard to the nano fibers used for last judgement, it was the easiest and quickest way of getting the hard drive without giving the enemy the chance to dispose of the evidence. I think the show didn’t make it clear that the hard drive will be recoverable even if cut. I think “avoid bloodshed” really means “avoid extended fire fight”. Santi don’t have a hive mind, at least from my understanding. It’s not that they can’t lie it’s that they never had the concept of lying. They communicate very differently compared to us. Also their society is solely focused on survival so they don’t really indulge any other emotions. If you guys ever decide to read the books you’ll get more background.

San Ti is not hive-minded. Their thoughts are transmitted like electro-magmatic waves, received instantly by other San Ti individuals in the vicinity. They don’t think first and say it using vocal cords (via sound). This makes the concept of lying very unnatural to them. It’s due to their anatomy. As such, they also find it hard to understand metaphors.
