Let's just say everything happening has a proper payoff. The author of this saga worked as a computer engineer at a water dam and he wrote the trilogy at night when after his day job's over. Cixin Liu is complete opposite of GRRM in a sense. GRRM more or less just let his story develop however it may lead (also kind of creates a problem for him on how to wrap it up...) but Cixin Liu already has an ending set in stone when he started his first page.
I know it's cliche to say this but you are not going to predict how this ends.
