Congrats but you know for the best DS game experience you need a DSi XL - DS games don't have that slight blur you get on the 3DS and also both screens on the DSi XL are always IPS and with a little shopping you can get one for around $100... No pressure though.

That's about how my experience went with my concels, I started with the nintendo wii we got it for Christmas one year randomly and we loved it we got the mario 25 bundle so we got mario bros wii, mario kart, and the wii sports games resort and wii sports we spent hours playing them and had a blast we even got this game called mario galaxy to wich became one of my favorite mario games ever, so time went on and one christmas me and my sister get this thing called a ds i got a little blue one loved playing it had the super mario version with the mario clock and donkey kong mini land on it loved playing it even got fossil fighters for it as the first ever game I really wanted mostly why i wanted a ds lol, so time went on and I got a little brother eventuallygot a ds, now my ds was for the most part alright a slight trouble charging it from all the use but my sisters screen got really scratched up, so for our birthdays our parents suprised us with the new ds xls now from playing on a little ds and going to the xl I was amazed how big and clear the games were on it sadly no mario stuff but it was still awesome! So time went on and I continued playing it my parents even got me fossil fighters champions for my birthday and just how I fell in love with the first I fell in love with that game as well, well during this time we also had the wii to play and we loved playing mario bros wii, mario kart, mario galaxy, brawl, and many more awesome wii games but I always went back to play my ds xl from my first ever pokemon game pokemon white, to my first experience with mario 64, and other cool games like dinosaur king, and spectrobes I loved my ds, but it wasn't to last the ds era was comeing to a close and the wiiu and 3ds were comeing out, the wiiu I was excited for and the 3ds seamed cool but I felt bad about haveing to leave my ds xl, so I saved up my monney... and bought a wiiu with a mario amibo as my mom bought smash 4 and Pikachu amibo since I saved up that much I was estatic I saved up for a concel my selph and the wii remotes could transfer over compatibility so that was nice but sometimes was off....see you could play wii games on the wiiu now the new games worked fine but the wii games looked well kinda off you could tell older games on a new concel wasent a main focus so we booted up the wii for wii games and the wiiu for wiiu games, now my little bro got mostly into Xbox at this time but me and my sister still loved nintendo so for our birthdays we each got a new 3ds xl!!! Ya we played the wii and the original ds xls so much that the new 3ds xl came out plus with the ds trend I liked the bigger screen anyways so I was waiting till they put that one out I got the year of luigi version with mario and Luigi dream team and my sister got a princess peach version we were hyped and also I got pokemon x and y I mostly played y and my sister got legend of zelda for the 3ds so we were haveing a Blast my little bro actually got the standard little red 3ds as a way to play with us with our big 3ds xls and ya love the bigger screen, but we always went back to the wii and wiiu to play and our ds xls since like the wiiu the ds games looked a bit off so champions mostly stayed in my ds xl, now the 3ds had this thing called UA-cam on it a site to watch videos and they had videogame videos on their to so I finally got to experience everything I missed on my favorite games I played and find some secrets like in fossil fighters champions how they gad a dlc so I booted up my ds xl and actually got the dlc about 2 months before they sadly took it down thankfully I got it in time, but I was watching this one UA-camr play this wieard phone game jurassic world the game and I'm a huge jurassic park fan as well so I wanted to play it but sadly I couldent cause it was on a phone or iPad so I stuck with my nintendo games and was happy, now fast forward a bit and we're older I now have to walk to school since I go to a diffrent school from my little brother and sister and my parents decided we should get phones incase of emergencys, well I got a minute phone and since my little brother and sister were still getting driven they didn't get one so I had a phone it was wieard it gad a few games like a version of teteris and snake on it but it wasent much they were on a veary small screen and 2 colors so mostly for calls, now a few years later and my parents see I do good with a phone they finally bite the bullet and get us actual phones ones that can play games man I still rember downloading jurassic world the game in the store and wondering what was going on lol, but ya now I got a better phone and that ment better internet, better UA-cam, and more games to try, but we never forgot about our concels the phones were fun but we still loved playing brawl, mario kart, mario bros wii, and mario galaxy man we even went to game exchange and had a blast getting older wii titles to play that's how we got brawl I seen mario, Pikachu, a pokemon trainer, and link on the cover and said ow cool this looks fun ... best decision I ever made.... but we continued to have a field day with the wii and ds games all that time, now fast forward a bit and times got a bit tough we moved a bit and we couldent game much, so the wiiu and 3ds era continued and we tryed to play the most we could smash 4 online, a new pokemon fighting game poken tournament and mario 3d world were our favorites and my sister from beating us at mario kart wii got mario kart 8, but then their was a sudden and dramatic pause to the wii and wiiu as we had to move again and sadly not lose them but put them in storage for a long time I was heart broken the concels we loved playing so much just suddenly went their to play and our phones and ds were the only things we have untill we see them again, well I tryed to make the best out of it jurassic world on my phone had regular updates and my ds and 3ds still were their but something was definitely wieard not playing thoes beloved games on the wii and wiiu, well time passed more and seamed like it draged and we wernt closer to playing our concels anytime soon all seamed loss....., introduce nintendos newest concel the switch a portable gaming concel like a ds and wiiu combined, now we were like omg that's so cool but our snerio we couldent get one when they came out so we had to wait and wait and wait and wait but nothing was changing, fast forward to my sisters birthday and she wants a switch now for my birthday I got some jurassic world figures since fallen kingdom came out and their wasent really any monney for a switch but my little sister persuaded them to buy a used one for her birthday along with a copy of mario kart 8 deluxe and breath of the wild pretty good deal to be honest like 175 I think or something but she actually got one and we got to see what the switch was all about and omg it was awesome!!! It was like a wii and wiiu but better graphics and alot smother gameplay it was so cool!, now since it's a portable system she mostly had it playing it as I'm their kinda enveying her wishing I had one, but then a certain game came out and ow boy did I want one more than ever now.... smash bros ultimate....., I was seeing oddysy come out, pokemon poken tournament dx, mario kart, and breath of the wild but this was the straw for me I wanted a switch for that, so for christmas that year I get a Suprise a smash bros ultimate set with the game and special game cube controller!... ya they thought it was the actual bundle set but I did eventually get a switch it was the standard red and blue one but I was happy notherless lol that was a funny moment lol but I played ultimate on my sisters untill I got mine so that was a plus lol, but fast forward now I feel kinda good again I got a concel back and me and my little bro so far put over 1,200 hours on ultimate alone I finally got into splatoon and got splatoon 3 and I finally got to play mario oddysy overall gameing is good, I still miss my older concels and ya their bringing some wii games back got mario galaxy in the all stars bundle and a new mario strikers came out and got mario kart 8 deluxe yo vs my sister but I still miss thoes older concels just sitting their waiting for the day I boot them back up, but it ain't all sad I still got my ds games and 3ds games just bought yoishis island ds and I bought my little bro a copy of fossil fighters and fossil fighters champions so we battle time to time like if the internet connection was still on so that's awesome. All I can say is nintendo games have got me through alot in my life and I'm thankful for that big red santa bag that had that concel in their to start this love for gameing that will never fade no matter what I go through it will always be their to chear me up every time. Also sorry for the long comment lol theirs just alot of concels that have memories for me lol!

I got the black Nxl for about 100 bucks last year to replace my beat up dying og black one My previous one had little cracks in the shell and a flickering screen cause I dropped it in a puddle a few months prior on vacation (it still had battery like 2 days ago despite not being charged in a year and it seems to have stopped flickering?) The new one not only was a big upgrade in screen (got lucky with an IPS too) and speed but was also in like brand new condition and the play log had like maybe 20 hours max. Got it at a yard sale with the charger, a few games (DS and 3Ds) and the stylus. Has been well loved since and comes almost everywhere with me unless I bring my vita that I actually just picked up on the 12th anniversary this year which was funny! Also kinda funny, I get street passes every time I’m on campus cause there’s a few people that bring theirs and I’ve actually gotten more people to bring theirs too. Have also gotten a few just walking around in public, especially at a Japanese marketplace somewhat nearby

if that $110 auction could be considered a steal, then i think i'd be charged with first degree murder, so when i was a kid i never had a 3ds, but my friends did, witch made it an obsesion of mine to have one, one day back in 2019 i was browsing the web for if i could find a 3ds at a low price, but what i found wasn't bad anyway, it was an original model ds, without anything, just the console, for $20, i of course got interested, but i debated myself about buying it or waiting until i found a 3ds, but just a day later while in class i brougth the topic to two of my friends, one of them who had a 3ds, i talked about that ds and that i was thinking about buying it, thats when, the friend who had a 3ds, in the most casual way, offered me, HIS 3DS WITH A CHARGER AND ONE OF HIS GAMES FOR THE SAME PRICE, THAT WAS A SOLGALEO & LUNALA SPECIAL EDITION NEW 3DS XL WITH A CHARGER, A POKÉMON X CARTRIDGE WITH THE BOX INCLUDED AND THE AR CARDS FOR 20 DOLLARS, of course i inmideatly agreed, and to this day i still have that 3ds with me

I bought a 3ds xl in college, needed money for food so I sold it after only playing pokemon y, Zelda a link between worlds and Fire emblem awakening, a couple years ago I bought a modded new 3ds xl and I love it

Fun to hear of your journey to finally get the console, yeah, used prices are beyond making sense these days. I had a funny journey (plus disposable income into my first job) to go from 3DS -> 3DS XL -> 2DS. I wonder how many people would also "downgrade" the screen size, but the 2DS is just so comfy. And used to be cheap brand new too! :D

I know how it feels man, I wanted to get a switch since around 2018 when I had the 3ds but I didn’t have much money I tried to buy a switch on eBay because of acnh in 2020 but I got scammed, I then waited until around the July of 2022 when I started my senior in high school when I got the animal crossing limited edition Nintendo switch it has been our main console beside the Xbox and the ps4.

It's a shame that the prices have skyrocketed, as someone that's been a fan for like 12/15years, I can barely even enjoy it just for the games, not for the money or anything like that but pokemon was/is a big escape from reality for me especially bc I didn't really have a good childhood growing up and I would always play the games to escape how I grew up and how both my biological father and stepdad treated me

Buyer's remorse is a difficult thing for me because I tend to be pretty mindful with how I spend. Although if you were to see my backlog though this would seem incredibly false. Personally, if I am able to get something for the price I can afford and maybe even get some bonuses, I don't see it as a wasted purchase. I think my most memorable experience with buyer's remorse though was with Street Fighter 5 at launch. It was set up to be the next big fighting game, and because this was during my early exposure to the FGC community I was very excited to give it a shot. What I got was a very incomplete game for $60 with the expectation to buy all the DLC fighters at an additional cost. The game as of current is complete and feature rich, but the letdown I felt of a game that promised a lot and then delivered very little felt like a backstab. For retro games/collectibles there are probably many pieces that I could be without. But I do find fulfillment in seeing the passion and interests be quantified (at least that's the excuse I tell myself). Excellent video Yello!

I feel this so hard. Covid really reignited my passion for retro game buying since we were all cooped up in the house. It gave me time to go back and play through some of my old favorites and the FOMO of seeing prices skyrocket like that definitely got to me too. Nowadays if I go in a retro game store, I feel bad if I leave empty handed since I want to see these stores thrive, so they're extremely dangerous for me to go in if I need to save some cash haha. Crazy how I was able to get yellow for around $50/$60 even a few years ago when Covid was still a big thing, now few years later ( a few days ago actually) I got Pokemon silver for about $50ish and today had to dig deep and find a sapphire copy for $69. Wasn’t willing to pay $70-$100+ for Gen 3. I’m hoping it’s authentic like the guy said. I’ll even take one with a dry battery since I know how to solder new batteries for cartridge games.

So I bought an old Ruby Cartridge with the fry battery.. I don't care about the save file so replace battery and new save file.. Good to go?

How to fix it: buy a new pokemon ruby/sapphire/emerald then get your old Pokémon game then trade it to the new one so you get some time to do some to do some clock based events

It’s weird, I replaced my battery about a year ago and have recently started a new save file on my ruby version as I moved all my pokemon to home. I’m currently trying to shiny hunt for mudkip and I’m 10600 SRs in so far without seeing a single shiny… not even an uncatchable pooch. Mathematically speaking if you count the pooches that’s 21200 encounters and still no shiny. I’m not sure if I’m just getting really unlucky or if my game is broken lmao.
