The purpose of the kit is to increase travel, softer ride and better off road performance wile still being bolt on. Today I am testing the durability of the suspension trying to find any weak points. Why not to check oil level when your engine is running
Переглядів 6 тис.2 роки тому
Description: In my recent video of performing an oil change I made a mistake in checking the oil level with the engine running. A viewer brought this to my attention. I then was curious how much of a difference is there between checking the oil level with the engine off and with the engine on.

Modifying Hummer Suspension...What are the effects of cutting a spring?
Переглядів 3343 роки тому
What type of ride are you trying to achieve with your Hummer? Want to lower lower your vehicle? Or need to install a spring to fit your Hummer? What are the effects of cutting your spring? Why does my truck ride so rough?
Переглядів 1,1 тис.3 роки тому
A rough ride is opinion base and is a personal reference. The only real way to compare a rough ride is to compare 2 vehicles side by side and have driven both of them. My view on HMMWV is the suspension system is over sprung for my use of the truck. I want to lower the payload capacity which lower my GVW and thus give me a softer ride. I plan on making these changes to vehicle by ways of reduci...

    I work with a ton of old school operators and we run big heavy equipment and its a cardinal sin to start a piece of equipment without first checking the oil and trans fluid even when it’s dead of winter. I always find the same results cold it will over read, running & warm in range same with the transmission

      @kookertech Рік тому

      I don't know why I started engine to check for the oil in the video. I do know its not the correct method. I did make a second video covering this mistake.

    How do you know when the fluid needs replaced or is there a general every so many miles thing ? Edit: that Teflon gasket around the top of the fill plug can be found at any hardware store and I also use them as wipes for my suppressors. I would double whammy that thing tape plus Teflon washer.

    • @kookertech
      @kookertech Рік тому

      I will check in the TM for this information on when to change and check the gear oil. I do know they want you to do a full hub inspection each time you open up the hubs. Your are correct the extra teflon tape around the fill wouldn't hurt. I was just following the TM as much as possible.

    Hello, thanks for sharing your knowledge on this trucks. I just bought one and I am trying to get all the info in order to restore and use this great vehicle. Many years ago I restored an M37B1 (21 years ago) and I was missing this sensation of driving and fixing a military vehicle. I notice that you have commercial tires on your humvee, I think they are the Interco TrXus Mud Terrain Tires RXM-32. I would like to know your opinion about them. I will have to change tires soon. Thanks

    • @kookertech
      @kookertech Рік тому

      Thank you for watching and commenting! Yes you are correct about my tire choice. I like them quite a bit. It’s hard to gauge them against the OEM tires I had on the truck previously because the OEM ones where badly warn when I got them and the alignment was also off. These bad tires and alignment caused the truck to go into a power slide at 30 mph on wet pavement and it was white nuckle driving everything I went. The new tires plus the alignment have been working great no issues. Tire wear is good, tire hum is very low and handles great in wet weather, off road no issues as well. I would buy them again once they wear out.

      A lot of people use them to get rid of the run flats in the wheel. They appear to work very well. Hutchinson the manufacturer of the H1 and Hmmwv wheels also makes an insert like that as well but rubber. I have the part number posted on our website.

    Pretty good but you did miss the most important part of the hub service, the spindle washers inside the hub need to be changed annually if you use the vehicle regularly, otherwise they can weaken and break causing the wheel to literally fall out of the hub, also you will not find required fluids in the regular TM 280 series, you will need the LO (Lubrication Order) for that.
