Beginner Knitting Tips: The Ranunculus Sweater Story

Beginner Knitting Tips: The Ranunculus Sweater Story
I love negative ease personally, because I have a short and narrow waist (comparatively) and really wide hips/large bust. Anything baggy makes me look like I'm just a wide straight rectangle, which doesn't make me feel my best. A bit of negative ease (especially cropped to the waist split hem) tends to hug my curves but still be a slightly positive ease around my upper chest, shoulders and waist. I find that 0-2" ease at my upper chest (6-8" negative ease from my full bust) is my sweet spot for me for a negative ease garment that doesn't feel too tight. I do have fluffier arms proportionally though, so I have to also make considerations there as well.
Happy to have you back!!!! I really enjoy your podcasts and hope to see more!!!!!!Your color combos are fabulous!!!!!
Welcome back!
Wb! I am also knitting my second Spring Sorrel right now. I love the color you've chosen, so lovely for February.

Oh hello! 💛 It's so fun to be able to watch your podcast on my TV while I knit at home! It's almost like you're here. :) So thankful for Knit ATX, Kaiwen, Tara, Chonita, and Syd for organizing our helpful and welcoming knit community. I wanna hear about your experience with the gorgeous brown shirt you're wearing and talked about first! Finally splurged on some La Bien Aimee this summer to make the same shirt. Your's looks incredible on you by the way.

I’m so glad! Happy New Year!
Funny thing about knitting. I knit, enjoy it. And I like watching people knit. It’s such a rhythmic motion, so soothing and satisfying.
I would 100% agree
'Love your enthusiasm and your quirky sense of humour! You make creating things fun with your enthusiasm. Thank you from Canada!
Thanks so much! I’m glad you’re enjoying it!
Thank you so much, very inspiring 😊
I'm so glad you liked it!
I was just sewing in the loose ends to my first ranunculus as I found your channel. I Ditto everything you said. It is a fantastic pattern and I've also just cast on for the second one. Both for my daughters. The third one will be for me. Love your enthusiasm. Knitting Rocks my world. Cheers
So glad you enjoyed the video! It’s such a fun pattern!

Hi Liz , I am new to your podcast …you are such an inspiration 😜 I am in The Woodlads, just north of Houston . Do you go to the Dallas show ?
I unfortunately did not get to go to the Dallas show. One day I hope to visit it. Thanks for joining!
I’m also in Texas …Houston ( hot n humid )…. we have a very small window to wear our knit pieces 😢
So happy I came across your podcast 😊 have liked and subscribed …..thank you !!!
Welcome!
You are a delight to listen to . Love your thoughts
Thanks so much, Nancy!
Thanks so much for this because I have been intimidated by this sweater !
What pattern do you use for the mini sweaters? I’m in north TX.
I use the "tiny sweater" pattern on ravelry - its free!
Adding your yarn info for each sweater would be so helpful. Thanks for the inspiration!
Miss your podcasts which I Love ❤
Thanks so much for saying that! New podcast coming out this Friday!!!
Hi ! Would you tell the length cord of needles you used ? Thank you 🙏🌞🌎
Of course! I believe mine was a 40" cord
I wondered what the yellow yarn is. Great color!
I’ve been thinking of casting on another ranunculus and this seals the deal! Thanks for the inspo
I am so glad I saw you on ytube, always wanted to knit this as I am a beginner knitter thank you
Very dark. Could not make out what you’re wearing
Hi from California! I’ve knit 4 and now I have to knit another because I LOVE 💕 the yellow color you are knitting! It’s a wow! Blessings
Thank you for sharing and good luck with future videos
Im about to begin with a linen flax blend
You have inspired me to try the Ranunculus. I have knit tons of shawls and small items, but never a garment and this pattern has been calling me. Now I have to at least try! Thx for your enthusiasm and inspiration!
Did you do the beautiful orange ranunculus with the bigger neck or the same?
I just found your podcast and am so pleased I did! I have always resisted the Ranunculus (just because it is so popular) until I saw one knitted up in a particular yarn. I bought the yarn but have still been hesitant to start. I have been knitting longer than you have lived but have never made a top down garment. The way you described how you approached this knit as a new knitter was inspiring so I guess I just have to bite the bullet and try. I am still a bit concerned about fit - the body not too big (mutton dressed up as lamb) and more room in the sleeves - but guess they are hurdles to jump after I get started. Thanks again, I’ll certainly be checking out your past podcasts.
What a fun idea. Happy holidays dear 🎅🏼🎄❤️
Thank you! You too!
Thank you for such a great idea for leftover yarn!!!! Your tree display at the end of the video is beautiful!!!! Especially with the fairy lights!!!!!!
Fabulous!
I made a linen one, a lux cotton wool blend and a cashmere one I get what you are saying.
What a lovely and charming podcast. Thank you for sharing your different versions and your enthusiasm for this pattern.
Thank you so much!
I absolutely love your podcast and am binge watching them all! You have given me confidence to try some new knitting techniques and I so appreciate that! Maine looks fabulous and I hope one day to plan a trip to that area and stuff myself on lobster and oysters! The yarn shops look so fantastic as well! Thanks for sharing and being so down to earth and a joy to watch! Appreciate you!
I appreciate you! Thanks for the kind words! It really made my day!
I, need to find the pattern?
Love this! Do you follow a particular pattern?
I can’t wait to hear your take on Wool & Folk since you are in the event planning business.
Watching this on Rhinebeck Saturday, and must admit that I’m happy and dry at home! Have been before, and thoroughly enjoyed, but will enjoy homemade pie here tonight with my husband! Knitters are the best-we willingly share knowledge and yarns whenever needed! Cheers to our group!🤩🧶👏🥰
Love your video
We have a pottery studio and do shows all the time and your advice about selling out of things and being happy for the person rather than upset is such a great Attitude to have. Thank you so much. Looking forward to hearing All about Reinbeck.
Hehehe I love your wicked humour - talking about the Jennifer pot-luck gossip you heard in line last year. 🤭🤭 Have a great time. Australia is sooooo far away.
Aww yay! Thanks, Liz. Love the pre-Rhinebeck look. 😁 Just such practical advice. 💚 Have a blast for those of us who aren’t going!
