All videos shot at Athenry, County Galway. Apart from vehicle No. 700 and the “Emerald Isle Explorer” all other videos are just
regular service trains.
We see No. 131 arriving and departing on Thursday afternoon 04/May/2023 on it’s way from Heuston Station to Galway.
We see No. 131 again on Saturday morning 06/May/2023 arriving and departing while on it’s way from Galway to Killarney via
Limerick.
All videos shot on Tuesday 02 May, Wednesday 03 May, Thursday 04 May and Saturday 06 May 2023.
Camera : Panasonic DC-G9, Lens : Olympus 12-40 mm. f2.8 Pro.

072 WITH PERMANENT WAY TRAIN AT ATHENRY

Loco No. 072 with permanent way train passing Athenry on it's way to Galway. Date : Monday 20/02/2023. The first train is the 13.45 from Galway to Limerick, shown arriving and departing. Due to incorrect camera settings the video was overexposed by several stops, requiring some editing to fix. This improved the image a lot but of course there is nothing like getting it right in the first place.

Photos taken over a couple of days in August 2019. Taken in the Belmullet and Achill areas of County Mayo. Camera used was a Panasonic Lumix DC-G9. The lens used was an Olympus 12-40 mm. f2.8 Pro.

We see the 13.05 Galway - Dublin Heuston train calling at Attymon on Wednesday 05/May/2021. Two persons got off; nobody got on. Shortly afterwards weedspraying vehicle No. 790 passes on it's way from Kildare to Athenry.

Irish Rail permanent way vehicle No. 790 seen at Athenry on Wednesday 28/April/2021. It was on it's way from Limerick to Galway. Also included is the arrival and departure of the 13.45 train from Galway to Limerick, also shown here at Athenry.

This is a new road and roundabout opened just a few months ago at Athenry. You will notice two signs exactly the same, showing the direction to Tuam, but pointing at different exits! All videos taken on Tuesday 10/Sept./2019. A few shots at dusk showing arrivals and departures. The last clip shows 2-6-4T No. 4 on it’s way back to Galway after it’s day trip to Westport. These scenes were shot between approximately 15.32 and 16.06 on Monday 22/07/2019 at Dublin's Connolly station. The camera used was a Panasonic Lumix G9. A selection of EMUs and DMUs are depicted. The weather was bright and dry but a bit windy.

All photographed over roughly a five-hour period on the afternoon of Thursday 27/06/2019 and all clips are in chronological order. The first clip is just an overview of Athenry station. In the second clip we see the luxury train passing Athenry just before lunchtime on it's way to Galway. In the final clip we see the train returning eastwards just west of Athenry around 19.00. It usually stops at Athlone for the night.

A cloudy day with intermittent sunshine and heavy showers. I was lucky to get these three shots while the sun was shining. The first clip shows the 15.05 Galway-Dublin train approaching Athenry. The second clip shows the 13.25 Dublin Heuston-Galway train leaving Athenry and the third clip shows the 14.20 Limerick-Galway train also leaving Athenry.

Belmond luxury train passing Athenry in the evening sunlight on it's way from Galway to Athlone, about five minutes behind schedule. It was going slower than usual, for some reason. A few minutes later the 18.40 Galway-Ennis train arrived and departed.
