Excellent video!
Thank you!

Great playing… could you do rumblin’ train…
Thanks! Rumblin' Train is great! Let's see how this video does.
Hi! First of all, I want to give you a huge compliment: I know very well that this song and it's not easy at all, and you play it perfectly. I envy you so much, and I would give anything to be able to play even half as well as you do. That said, I have to say that your lesson on “High Wire” by Badlands, a song I’ve loved forever, left me a bit disappointed. I’m a huge fan of Jake E Lee and was one of the first to buy this album when it came out in 1989. Since then, I’ve been waiting for someone to teach me how to play this piece. Unfortunately, from your video, it’s hard to grasp: the backing track with the other instruments and vocals creates a lot of confusion. Also, even when you play it slowly, it’s still too fast for someone trying to learn. Please, if you can, redo the video by playing the intro riff and the solo without the backing track and much more slowly. I would be really grateful. I understand that many people comment just to criticize, but I want to emphasize that this is not my intention. I truly appreciate your skill, and I just want to help make your video more accessible to those of us who don’t have your superpowers. Finally, I know that UA-cam videos can be slowed down, but the audio quality suffers and it becomes hard to distinguish the notes. Thank you for your attention, and I hope to see an improved video on this fantastic song soon!
Thanks for the feedback. I forgot to mention in the video that there is a link to the tab of my transcription in the description section beneath the video. I know that my videos are a little different than others, because I want to avoid talking through the string and fret numbers of each note. The tab does a way better job of that, and you can take it and use it to practice along with the actual track. I appreciate all of the compliments!
would you consider doing believe me ?
That is one that should definitely be done. I think the only reason I haven't done it already is because it has two solos, which would make for a longer video. The first solo has some awesome stuff!
@@JimbosGuitarPlanet i would really appreciate the whole thing!! and angel eyes. two amazing songs i would kill to be able to play. wish i had your ears haha
Great job! Thanks for tabbing it out, it's very helpful! How was seeing them in September? (I had tickets to the Bridgeport show they cancelled right after the "incident")
Cool-thanks for letting me know! The Chicago show would have been eleven days after the Boston show, so I didn't get to see them either. I was looking forward to it but obviously it wasn't meant to be.
spot on !
Thanks!
Good job, man.
Thanks!
MEENNALS & HANNELS & SQUEALS >Forevermore😊
it still kills me that this song wasn’t released on WACF. i don’t get it man! great video bruh
Thanks! Yeah, I feel like that about several songs. They should have made a double album at some point. I noticed recently that Ed used a part of Red Zone in "Get Up" at 2:43.
Awesome thanks so much for this… Got it. Would you happen to have the backing track for this by any chance or let me know where you think I could get it. I tried a couple searches, but haven’t found it yet. Thanks so much again. Excited to see some of the other lessons.
Thanks-I'm glad you like this! I don't know of any available backing tracks, but here is a way that you could pretty easily make one that keeps Perkins' amazing percussion, and what must be Perry's maniacal strumming. I use a program called "Transcribe!" to learn/transcribe and practice. It has a Karaoke setting which removes whatever is in the center of the mix. For "Three Days" it removes the guitar solo but unfortunately it also removes the bass. However, if you export the sound file with the removed guitar and bass to a track on your DAW you can overdub the bass yourself. It's a repeated figure that I demonstrate in my Part 2 video: ua-cam.com/video/J3bxrHMIV7Q/v-deo.html
@@JimbosGuitarPlanet Awesome- thx so much appreciate it 🙏🏻!!! Excited to go through and learn some of these Van Halen bootlegs
@@rocknrollproperty That's great!

Love it. I always jammed it out in E minor ; i can KIND of make it work but you inspired me to grab my guitar and boom... Lydian.
For the way I view the key and scales used, check out my reply to @danielgray1073 below--the second one where he mentions the key and the modes. And thanks!
If you want to hear another underrated guitarist that I believe is just as creative and has the chops as Navarro in terms of alt rock, check out the band Into Another.. specifically the album Ignaurus. Peter Moses is the guy's name. He's an unknown monster
I've been waiting 34 years for this! SICK! Excellent tutorial!
Awesome-thank you!
Thank you very much for transcription- great job

That first album is a classic.
Thank you so much for the time and effort explaining this solo, it’s one of my faves.
I'm glad you found this-thank you!
How about an Idiots rule intro lesson pls 🙏✌🏼
Idiots Rule would be a good one. If I can figure out what he's doing at the one minute mark, I'll do it.
Best band ever, and Dave’s such an underrated guitarist in my eyes.
The main solo is one of the most soulful solos I've ever heard. Thanks for covering this!
Wow !!
Thank you

Hey man it’s been a while, how are ya? Was wondering if you could show us how to play the live version to “you’re no good” by Van Halen in their 1979 promo shoot. Was hoping to learn the riff solo and outro to the song here
I'm good! People have been watching my past episodes, so I thought I'd take a little summer break "Your No Good" is great but I haven't completed all of the early ones I want to do which was my original mission.
@@JimbosGuitarPlanetsounds good boss, excited to see what you cover next
Haunting solo, just saw JA this week- Dave’s playing is so tasteful
Gran trabajo saludos desde México!
Gracias y gracias por decir Hola! Es genial que estos puedan trascender la barrera del idioma. Avísame si tienes alguna pregunta. Es bastante fácil copiarlas y pegarlas en el Traductor.
haha wow, that's just incredible playing. Hats off ;-)
Thanks-much appreciated!

I guess the secret is out.
Cool video of a killer unreleased song. Just curious. Do happen to like Glenn Tipton from Judas Priest?
Thanks! Yeah, Glenn Tipton is great!
@@JimbosGuitarPlanet I could tell. Your smooth style resembles his. Especially your picking hand.
Thanks-nice compliment!
You’re tone is perfect. What’s the set up for your Marshall?
Hey-thanks! I have the Marshall's volume at 7. I boost the front-end with an Ibanez Boost (BTMINI). I think that guitar sounds good for the early Ed stuff because it has a 1-piece maple neck and the pickup isn't particularly overwound or dark. Let me know if you wanted to know something else.
Fantastic!🤙
Thanks!
Great job, so much for Ace saying he was a big influence on Edward... even back in the earliest bootlegs from 1974, Ed was doing his own thing...
Thanks! He plays a great solo in their version of "Firehouse" too.
Amazing breakdown, geniuses are such a young age..
Thanks! Yeah, Navarro was in his early twenties.
yes !!! thank you dude- bests
Thanks again!
incredible. thank you sir- blessings
Thanks so much!
cool video thanks. That solo is one of the most epic rock blast ever to me ;)
Thanks! Yeah, if you learn the main solo you've got the skills to play the end solo and both are great for different reasons.
Nice! Can you transcribe ‘Believe Me’?
Thanks! Another commenter mentioned "Believe Me" too, and found me a better recording than the rough one I kept finding. As long as I can hear what Ed's playing, I'll give it a whirl.
u play beautifully sir. bravo.
Thanks, I really appreciate you saying that!
You're getting a follow from me for this. How it is Dave doesn't get more love is criminal to me. Those first 3 Jane's records are as classic as anything ever recorded. He's a legend.
Thanks for the sub. I know what you mean, they don't seem as well-known as I would expect with younger (than me) people. That can change though. Some bands get way bigger after their heyday. Jane's was always huge in my circle of friends, because they came along and changed everything at just the right time.
@@JimbosGuitarPlanet jane's were definitely the true kings of alternative music.
can you please do “i want some action “?
My plan was to stick with the pre-VH 1 stuff. I've never messed around with the Eventide pitch-shifted Eddie era. I did see that there's a plugin for $100 though,, so never say never.
This is JA at their best, great vid man ty.
Thank you!
At last my dream has come true. Subscribed!!! More Jimmy Page guitar - he was the greatest.
That's great! I did this one too: ua-cam.com/video/nCmNn7AX5rk/v-deo.html
Between this one and the last one, you've convinced me to have a go at learning it. I may never get there, but I'll have fun trying. thanks for both videos!
Awesome-that makes me happy!
Have loved these 2 videos. Even though they aren’t hand holding, very slow note for note playthroughs I’ve found them better than any other tutorial for this song on YT. Been wanting to learn how to play the solos for 30 years (yes that long !) so I’ve put aside practicing most other things and really knuckled down on these. Very slowly getting there. Can play most of the first solo to speed (some of the busier parts still trip me up every now and then) and when that frustrates me I start on the second solo (the fast lines are super tricky!) determined to learn it all though even if it takes months. Consider me subscribed.
That's so great! Thanks for taking the time to give me positive feedback! I know what you mean about getting tripped up. In the fast phrases with the shifts, if I don't play one of the notes with my index finger the whole thing collapses.
Awesome break down on the solo but how about a chart of all the chords that make up this song?
Thanks! It's in the works. Check back this weekend.
Part 2 is up: ua-cam.com/video/J3bxrHMIV7Q/v-deo.html
nailed it brother! what gauge strings are you using ?
Thanks! I'm using 9-42 strings. There's a 2-step bend with your index finger in this one, so heavier strings could make that tough.
@@JimbosGuitarPlanet ok cool thanks ! gave it a try on my 11-52 and it was a definitely a bit of a challenge lol
You're lucky you didn't pull something.
@@JimbosGuitarPlanetno kidding 😂
