300 swings. In sets of what?
Oh? How come doing extensions cured her forward bend? Interesting. 😊 I’m having a problem no one’s been able to solve. When I bring my knee to my chest, I feel pain in the opposite QL, Sacrum area. What could it be?
Anytime I try to do this I don’t feel any muscles firing, what am I doing wrong?
judging by the number you are in anne arundel county.
Good guess Tony! We’re actually in Carroll County though!
@@Freedom-chiro gotcha. I don't live there but I do go to the chiro from time to time in PG. It has helped me out a lot.
I can walk for hours but when it comes to bending my back feels like it’s extremely stiff. I walk dogs so I often pick up dog poops and I can’t always reach properly.
Hey Dr. Chip! I was just looking into diaphragmatic breathing and magically your video appeared. I miss you guys--Iris
Just seeing this now Iris! I’m so glad you found this video and of course we miss seeing you too! Stay well!
No thanks! Tried it. Never again!
I feel the same issue while bending forward and feel discomfort in my L5 S1 area in mid just above my butt. Is this SI dysfunction or lumbar problem?
thank you for uploading
How does performing lumbar extension improve lumbar flexion rom?
This is a great question, but tough to answer through the text in a comment. I am going to do my best. The current thought process is that when we flex forward it puts pressure on the discs in our back pushing the jelly-like material on the inside of the disc towards the back. That increased pressure can increase the feeling of pain. However, when we create extension it actually pushes the material toward the front which decreases the sensation of pain. Does that make sense?
I'm a month in. 300 swings a day. 12 sets. 25 swings. 90 seconds rest between sets. First 2 weeks with a 35lb cast iron traditional kettlebell. By the 3rd week, I bought a 53lb competition kettlebell. First 6 sets with 53 lb. Then rest with 35 lb. Then gradually to the point where I do all sets with 53 lb competition bell. Hardstyle swing. Getting better form. I sweat a lot. The pain feels good. Lost 19 lbs in a month. Now once a week I randomly shock/surprise my body by swinging the 53 lb as much as I can do until my body is tortured. It helps when I plateue
Swings are an amazing tool! Great for strength and great for fat loss too!
I trained a female co worker in her 50 s...to work up to 100 swings in a row.....it took a while but eventually she accomplished it! A year later we did Dan johns 10,000 swing protocol.....me using a 50 ...somedays 60 and her a 40 lb bell! You are 100% right..who doesn't have 6...15 minutes a day to get this done! Simply comes down to discipline....
Informative video. Can i refer you to a new directory for chiropractors to add your video? Can we also send you the link by email?
I have the exact same problem as another person mentioned below . I have been searching the net for some exercises. The doc said I have a pulled muscle or a sciatica, but none of the medication worked. It is a short range when bending foreward trying to reach my toes, at which my lower spine wants to pull me back-or so it feels. If i bend my knees only a little bit or I place one hand on a knee, there it goes, no more pain. But there is a constant discomfort in my lower back that usually extends to the hips. I am a 17 year old male with no previous problems such as this and I have no other movement issues. I'd appreciate some help, since I have been confronting this problem for 2 months now.
did u find a fix mate?
@@GamingLeguan Yes, it was because of my muscles being weak, I supppose. Exercising daily for a month and focusing on lower back strength solved the issue for me, but I would suggest seeking further medical attention if you are having the same problem. My doc also suggested I buy a posture corrector, but it did not seem that effective for me.Wish you all Best!
I cannot bend over at all forward and it doesn't bother me going backwards until I feel that pinch on my hip thigh leg area , helppppp im at work and need stretches or to know what to doooo its shooting pain down leg 😭
When I execute several back extensions, I feel better when I bend forward, but this effect won't keep for a long time. If I sit on a chair for a while, the lower back pain comes back again 😥😥😥
Check your posture when you are sitting down, that is probably contributing if not causing the pain.
Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him. John 3:36 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:23. Jesus Christ is the only way, seek Him while He may be found, before it’s too late, tomorrow is never promised..
"Talk to your health care provider..." I'm sorry, I love my Doctor but he wouldn't have a clue about swings or how many I should do.
I’m a doc and I’d say I know a thing or two about kettlebell swings! Don’t judge us all before talking to us.
@@Freedom-chiro ok so what does that have to do with asking MY healthcare provider ? Also most Doctors don't know sports medicine.
Fair point Joe. That just means you have to keep looking for someone in your healthcare team that knows the importance of exercise.
@@Freedom-chiro Do you live in the United States ? My healthcare team ? hahahhahah
Haha! Yes I’m in Maryland. We may be the exception but there are some educated chiros and PT’s that will gladly help you out! Are you in the US?
I'm a 60 year old woman. I did this challenge last year with a 15lb kettlebell. I lost 7 pounds and had noticeable toning everywhere. I broke it up into sets of 25 swings at first then advanced it to 50 swings a set.
This is awesome Kim! I love that you did that. We do a lot of small (5 or less people) group training with people ranging in ages from mid-30's to 75+ and all of them do swings in just about every class! Congrats on doing the work and the weight loss!
Keep on upping the weight of the kettlebell and maneuvering the rep scheme......my ex trainee/ training partner started 10 sets of 10 with 20 seconds of rest...then 15 seconds...10 seconds until in time she could bang out 100 reps non stop!! We also did ladders with the rest time equal to the rep number..10,9,8,7 etc......another protocol was 20 kb swings followed by a short bear crawl or a few pushups repeated 5 times! She was 53 at the time I was 62....in a yrs time she lost over 125 lbs...keep on pushing!
@@oldgeezerfitnessr.perales7344 that's impressive! Thanks for the inspiration.
Hi doc I’m new to your channel. Do you use swings on your clients for their knee rehab?
Absolutely Jake! We use swings for rehab for hips, knees, lower back, etc. Even one-handed swings as part of our shoulder rehab. They are honestly one of my favorite exercises all around!
Freedom Chiropractic & Rehab I’m on it doc.
So this isn't about backs at all, but do you think these would help with glutes? Mine became extremely weak over the past few years and now my knees appear to be knocked. So I look like I have knock knees... but I know it has to be a muscle imbalance. I was a gymnast and dancer for over 20 years and it's just really unsettling to see my knees like this now. I'm trying to do anything to get my booty all strong again.
Swings are a GREAT glute exercise! They work glutes and hamstrings quite a bit. So this would be a great movement to add to your routine!
ua-cam.com/video/NMB62ADH2TM/v-deo.html do this routine.
One way of working your way up to 100-500 swings is do them in escalating ladders. This is from Pavel and it has worked very well for me at age 59, doing double KB swings with my two 26 pound DIY Kettlebells. First set 5 reps, shake loose for 10-15 seconds, Second set 10 reps, shake, Third set 15 reps, shake, Fourth set 20 reps, shake = 50 reps and repeat from the bottom (5 reps) until you reach goal or your form starts to degrade.
I like this Robert! I may need to do it this way in the future!
So I did the 10,000 swing challenge. Started doing 350 a day, and progressed to 600 a day in the last week. The bell isn't that heavy, I only have a 16 kg one. I would say I feel stronger, my body felt "taller" and I cut 4 lbs with a bad diet. Looking forward to trying it out again with a heavier bell and a better diet once quarantine is over.
Hi ,do you think i'll achieve the same resuly but using resistance bands instead ? ,I tried it today ,and my lats muscles are so sore
The body "taller" feeling is often because you are using the back/posterior chain so much in swings! That is awesome! The heavier weight will definitely change the game for you!
its year of the rona how was ur swing experiment go? whats the result of 300 swing per day 30 days?
I did it a couple of years ago, and I loved it while I did it. I felt great when it was done, but stopped to be able to look into other options!
Hey thanks for the video! I had issues with my mid back (not a hernia but a bit of disc friction from being a pilot). It got better with swimming and I wanted to go back to the swings. Would you recommend it in my case? I am planning a 200 KB swings daily for 2 months.
That is a difficult question to answer because we are all a little different. I would suggest if you are looking to get back into it, start slow. Don't jump back right into 200. Start with 5 sets of 10 reps, then gradually increase either sets or reps, but never both at the same time. Hope that helps!
@@Freedom-chiro Thank you very much for your answer. I agree, I will start with 50 reps and build up from there, maybe I will add a few sets of bridges for variety. Again thank you very much man!
Thank you.
You're welcome!
I have done for several months 300 swings a day 30 lb. kettlebell also, every other day add in addition snatches, press’s, squats and pass around. But the 300 swings in sets of 50, 1 arm swings, alternating arms are done each day.
That's awesome Doug! Congrats! How have you been feeling? Do you feel stronger?
Please make a video on sacralization. What moves should one do?
dr.bleam, i like your vid ur explain well, intersting vid. always like your workouts and good that u are always in your socks that is good for stability mechanics. u explain well, ur handsome and have good presentation. ❤️kim
Thank you for your feedback Kim!
@@Freedom-chiro ur welcome. im w/ your channel and look forward to more!!
That table is awesome!
Thanks Lee! We really do love it.
I got a 20 and 25, recommend swinging both?
I wouldn't suggest swinging them at the same time. If you are going to swing two bells, I would highly suggest that they be the same weight.
Sounds excessive to me
I understand why you would think that, but it was not as tough as it might sound. It would depend on the weights used each day. Often I would mix other movements along with the swings to break them up. Have you tried it? I'd encourage you to try it once and see how it feels.
@@Freedom-chiro My usual workouts are around 300 total reps, but I do other exercises. Usually I'll do 100 swings, 100 snatches (50 each arm) then another leg exercise and pushups. I use two 35lbers
@@a_fuckin_spacemarine7514 Sounds good to me! Just keep doing the work!
@Inconspicuous Nobody It would truly depend on your goals and what size bell you have in your hand. 100 swings with a 6 kg bell would be a walk int he park, but 20 swings with a 40 kg bell can be brutal... So, unfortunately, the best answer is "It Depends."
@Inconspicuous Nobody I just started 3 days ago doing a full swing over my head 50 reps with 1 - 25lbs kettlebell and like you I am out of breath after
What’s that moving table Called...Not all chiros hv that table
Hey Sandy! It is a Leander automated Flexion/Extension table. I don't think that I would use another table anymore at this point!
So what changes did you see after you completed it
Noticed increased strength and stamina, but to be honest I did not really plan well enough to have before and after photos... I was also down about 7 lbs, with no change in my nutrition. Actually thinking about going back to it again here in the near future!
Great work!!! Keep it up.
in one shot ? brutal !
Typically I will break them up into several sets, and not string 300 together unbroken.
I know, right!...No, I usually take about 10-15 seconds break towards the end of high pulls session because my forearms will be burning!!! since I don't take break(s) during the swinging session. I avoid a total cool down as it takes away my appetite for the workout. 12 minutes max and I'm done,.... and the day belongs to me.
@@natebernstein5901 that's what I ended up doing. After 50 I just wanna puke my guts lol
I am currently doing an all Double Kettlebell routine comprised of 50 Swings - followed by 50 High Pulls and 50 Hard Style Snatches under 12 minutes, and in some days under 10 minutes...Brutal but efficient and effective in all areas... my abs and core, shoulders, forearms, triceps, biceps, traps, calves, quads, my lower, mid and upper back, obliques, grip...amazing. I don't know what else to say except that - try it out with a challenging weight (16, 20, 24 and 32 kg) every day for 4 weeks and see what happens to body..The body has NO choice, but to adapt for self -preservation and longevity.
Nate Are you swinging with one hand? Are there planned breaks in the program? I am assuming that you are doing 25 of each per hand. Is that correct? Thanks for sharing! I will definitely give it a try!
I swing 2 KB of the same weight with both hands simultaneously for 50 reps, then followed by high pulls for 50 reps, and finish it off with the Czar of all KB exercises hard style snatches for 50 reps - that's 150 reps per arm with a total of 300 reps combined. I used to schedule 2-3 minutes break, but I stopped because it took away my appetite for the workout. Now I will take may 10-15 seconds before a total cool down, and in this way I achieve endurance, strength, explosive power, burning fat, if there is any, and building a lean, strong physique and mental toughness at the same time. I know it's not for everyone, but I enjoy it and the results are beautiful. I think my body it... Remember the word BRUTAL is followed by BEAUTIFUL.
That is awesome! Way to push yourself Nate! I'm gonna need to give that one a shot!
Nate Bernstein Wow!! Sounds like the perfect storm of fitness; it covers all bases. How has impacted your fitness and body composition. What made you decide to try this type/ style of workout? Any tips for someone who wants to attempt it? Thanks for your time.
I always do at least 60 swings per day, in addition to my other barbell and kettlebell work
That's Awesome SilverBack! It is a great way to get a little cardio in too while building power! Keep it up!
I'm always supersetting a barbell exercise with 5 Swings. Keeps my heartrate up
I just finished the 10K swing challenge. My last day was a 70# bell for 400. Good stuff
Any tips on preventing blisters? :( just started last week doing 75 a day first week, and now up to 125 with 30 lbs kb. I feel stronger but I got lil blisters on the crease where my fingers and palm meet
The quality of the finish of the kettlebell will often have an impact on the hands. Is there a ridge on the underside of the handle of the bell? Do you have a "death grip" on the kettlebell? Have you been using chalk at all Febe? I find that chalk helps too.
Febe, this is a common issue, so you are not alone. Some think that blisters are a 'badge of honor'...until they burst/rip and prevent you from engaging in any traing involving grip. Let me guide you to take a look at some of Hector Gutierrez UA-cam videos (Hector G) on kettlebells and grip. He's very accomplished and easy to understand. Hector G; Grip Fundamentals (ua-cam.com/video/bxFXQRGHXcs/v-deo.html)
I'm a massage therapist and I can't afford to have listers on my hands so i wear weightlifting gloves.
Great video!
Thanks PJ!
Appreciate Video! Sorry for butting in, I would appreciate your initial thoughts. Have you researched - Chireetler Kettlebell Miracle Rule (probably on Google)? It is a good one of a kind guide for learning some amazing kettlebell challenge workouts without the headache. Ive heard some decent things about it and my old buddy Taylor at last got cool success with it.
I haven't seen it yet Lefter, but I will check it out! Thanks for the heads up!
What was the result after you were done post 30 days ???
Noticed increased strength and stamina, but to be honest I did not really plan well enough to have before and after photos... I was also down about 7 lbs, with no change in my nutrition.
I did with my 20 kgs kb 300swings everyday during a month and the result is a very strong back and a very good posterior ..
That's awesome! I find that most people notice improved posture as well. We tend to work the "mirror muscles" (the ones that we can see in the mirror) and ignore the others. Stimulating the back tends to improve posture quite a bit! Enjoy the journey.
Hi! I’m thinking about starting this same program, and I’m curious about how it has worked out for you. Any advice?
Hey Brian! Sorry that I am just getting back to you on this, but I didn't see your comment. I stayed with the program for about 6 weeks. Then I decided to cut down on the total swings that I was doing, but I started swinging MUCH heavier kettlebells (based on some advice from some kettlebell guys that I trust). I went from swinging my 24 kg (53 lb) kettlebell 300 times, down to swinging the 36 kg (80 lb) kettlebell about 100 times (20 sets of 5) a couple of times per week. If you have any more questions let me know! I am happy to help if I can.
