Donna-marie and I (Alfred) are on our lap of Australia leaving from Perth, in our tiny caravan we called "Tiny" hence the channel name "Tiny On Tour". Follow us as we explore and discover more about this great land of ours. The caravan is a Crusader Hurricane with a few mods to it and so far we are loving it.
Tiny On Tour Episode 14 - Gibb River Road Part 4 - Mt Barnett Station and Manning Gorge
We camp at Mt Barnett's Manning Gorge Camp Ground. Mt Barnett has a drinking water tap and the best shop on the Gibb, unlike other station shops, this one is like a mini mart! They also have fuel available. The walk to the gorge starts with a swim across the waterhole at the camp ground and is a 5.9km return hike. There are a few gullies you have to climb down into then up again on the other side and it is classified as a Class 4 walk. Proper hiking shoes are recommended. It is well worth the effort and all is forgotten when you finally reach the waterfall.

We continue our journey on the Gibb River Road from West to East and hike in to Galvans Gorge. Galvan's Gorge is part of Mt Barnett station but there is no fee to access this gorge. It is a short walk and and well worth the time to check it out. I suggest you pack a lunch as you will want to stay there longer then planned.
Crusader Hurricane Issues Part 5

We are on a lap using a Crusader Hurricane, one of Crusaders smaller off road caravans and it is a great van but there are some issues mainly with components fitted by (I believe) external contractors. Hopefully these items will be looked into so they can produce a better product.

Banana Well A bush camp on the Dampier Peninsula that is is not usually mentioned is Banana Well, it is a decent size and vans are well spaced out. We stop into Broome for a van service and to get parts to keep our water heater from coming loose, re stock the pantry, do laundry and fill water. While there we visit the night markets and catch up with some friends then on to Smithy's and get to see whales!

80 Mile Beach has grown since the last time I visited, well kept with great facilities, everyone is enjoying a fantastic King Threadfin fishinng season, everytime i walked past the cleaning station there were 3-4 if these monsters on the table. Also the only beach where we have seen Cook Urchin shells and plenty of them.

Crusader have a lot to answer for and particularly Lewis RV . The issues list is quite long and it’s called an off-road van that the manager came up with after trips to sell as a top unit that was extremely capable . It’s an expensive van to boot so it has put me off completely now after years of looking at them as we thought they are not built to standard of some other off-road vans . VERY disappointing for a large well known company to have this be the case and offer minimal assistance as well. And the fact that they suggested seeking assistance from others for faults and bad workmanship astounds me . Looks like I stick to the other brand thanks to your honesty . Will cont to watch your adventures for updates and info . 😎
@@darlineainsworth1460 I have to agree. It has the potential to be a really good van if there was more attention to detail, especially when they use external contractors to fit out critical parts of the van. Ultimately the responsibility is with Crusader and it’s dealers.

Our microwave died to, shaken to bits
@@markandshirley it needs 5o be strapped in, when I get the replacement I will make sure it is secure.
@@TinyOnTour-bm7td ours is screwed in nice and tight, but something has come loose inside causing it to short out, same noise as you had i think.
Plus all the screws in the drawers and cupboards came loose and stripped the wood. Thinking about using a nut and bolt through, a bit ugly but should work
@@markandshirley locktite 222 (I think) it is for wood just check if that is the right number or silicone, just a dab.
We had a latch retainer break too, getting the metal ones in the next few days.
@@markandshirley yes I believe metal ones will be the way to go.
The gib is known as the caravan killer. But in your case, I'm sure YOU VAN IS NOT UP TO THE STANDARD of a off road van. Shame on the manufacturer.
@@TinpotTravellers when I am done with it, it will be, but I shouldn’t have to be the one doing it as it cost a pretty penny.
Enjoyed, you have a happy and fun vib. Interested to know why you had tyre issues, were they not suitable for that terrain?
@@TinpotTravellers yes they were the standard SUV tyres that came with the car, I had ordered LT AT tyres for fitting in Broome but they did not turn up and I thought we could get thru to Kununurra and get it done there.

Yeh Chris we went when the water level was high so had to swim. I've never swam so fast after I saw the eye's lol amazing experience though, absolutely loved it 😍
Thankyou. Did you order 3 water tanks or do you use your grey water tank for freshwater? We wanted 3 water tanks but they said there was no room due to the airbags.

Hello, You mentioned you had 3 tanks filled up. We only have 2 water tanks and a grey water. Are you filling the grey up with water?
3 water tanks is a special order pre build. If you haven't used your grey tank you should be able to convert it to a water tank quite easily.

Hello I have just listened to your video, we have recently been away in our new Gladiator Force and the LED lights were very bright , the fix is to unscrew from the wall and there are 3 wires, cut the white wire and tape it up with insulation tape,that will take out the light and the USB will continue to work with the other 2 wires.

Great episode guys. Get yourself a copy of Michael Morcombe's Field Guide to Australian Birds. I think I got mine in Broome when travelling. It is very satisfying ticking off various bird types and then learning bird names on your travels. The Spangled Drongo is one of my favourites.
