  • We leave the Scenic Rim and head back towards the coast to check out Byron Bay and Yamba and had some dramas as the site we booked at Mullumbimby was given to some one else, lucky for us they managed to sort a spot for us to camp for a couple of days.
Byron was busy, it's a real beach town and it attracts a young crowd, I have never seen so many bikinis and swim trunks in any town centre before, the streets were so busy that they needed lollipop men to get pedestrians across the street!
Next stop was at Maclean Showground on the other side of the highway at Yamba. Maclean is a town with a strong Scottish Heritage. Even the power poles along the street had clan colours and names painted on them. Don't miss the IGA when you are there, it is a very nice well stocked supermarket.
We went into Yamba the next day to take a look around at the sights and spent time at a few beaches then the following day we went to see a old friend of Donna-marie. They invited us over for a BBQ lunch and we spent the whole day there catching up on their 2nd story balcony looking out over the water.

I think the town of McLean sounds nice, would definitely skip Byron Bay! You sure get lucky with nice camp sites 😉😉
