CamCo Linesmans/Electricians Knife #thankfulthursday @singingtoad @hillbillyridgeoutdoors
So, Mike from @makecutlerygreatagain1884 sent me a cool knife. We get into a look at that after I highlight a few folks and things I have to be thankful for today. Particularly, I recently hit the 400 subscriber mark. So, I want to say thank you to everyone who has decided to join me on this journey. Hopefully I can continue to entertain and, hopefully, bring you some information that will be of benefit to your daily life.
I also received channel sticker from the one and only, Singing Toad (the originator of the knife community Thankful Thursday open tag. Not only that, I also received channel stickers from Mickey of Hillbilly Ridge Outdoors, who is another great member of this community.
Truly, a Thursday to give thanks.

Beaver Knife - Not Your Everyday Knife @Stans_Collectors_Universe

Today we have a look at the Beaver Knife. This is a fixed-blade knife specifically designed for the purpose of removing hide from a beaver. The fur industry was a cornerstone in the development of Canada and, the beaver was a central component to this industry. The beaver pelt was a prized commodity in Europe. It became a foundation for trade both nationally and internationally. @Stans_Collecto...

Very interesting knife and no jokes on this one😂 I am afraid all will not be suited for our viewers. So Ill leave it to beaver. 😂 See what I did there hehehe. Have a fantastic day
Haha! That is probably the tamest joke, on the topic, that you could have made! lol Have a great day!
These are neat! I have a 3 bladed one from Camilus.
Congratulations on the 400 sub mark. Great knife, I really enjoy the electricians knives that I have. Thanks for sharing, have a great day and an amazing weekend.
Great video really enjoyed the live a few days ago with you castle and paddy hope yall do another one lm looking for one of those knives just subscribed
Awesome! Thank you very much! The live was a fun experience. I'm sure we'll do another. We were going to discuss Canadian knife laws but got off track lol. I'm sure we'll get that done at some point. Have a great day!
Awesome little knife! Congrats on 400!
Thanks, man! It's built like a tank! Have a great day!
What an awesome knife. I have a cheap Colonial USA Electricians but i love it. Great channels you mentioned as well!! All awesome folks. Thanks for sharing today brother Todd!
Thanks, Ryan. It's a very solid knife. Could certainly be a useful daily carry. Yup. All awesome channels and fellas. Thanks for having a look. Have a great day!
Great video, those are blades with a lot of history that can handle and help you with a lot of different work!! Thanks for sharing this one!!
Thanks, brother, and thanks for having a look!. Definitely a knife build to work. Could definitely be a daily carry. You and the Mrs. have a great day!
Congrats on 400! Awesome knife
Thanks, man! It's definitely a knife built to work. Have a great day!
Congrats on 400 brother. Glad you are gonna enjoy that knife. I think that one was one of my first restoration/refurbs, well before UA-cam. Thank you for sharing!!!
Thanks, Mike! It's a great knife. Glad to have it in my collections, both for the knife and for it's connection to the brotherhood! Thanks again! Have a great day!
@@Pocket_EDC anytime brother. Hopefully first of many!!
Congratulations my friend, it’s a long hard climb, each subscriber is well earned. I look forward to your adventures daily, you have brought a lot of laughter and joy to my life. I just ordered three slips and a Horizontal sliding sheath from Ed at Legacy knives in Cape Cod. I will shoot you one as a thank you for all you have done for me. I actually found two electricians knives at our Antique Mall, I bought them for my wife’s brothers for Christmas, they saved us a fortune by rewiring our entire house for free. Great video Todd, scratches for Charlie, have a great day brother.
Thanks, Dave. Who would have thought a bunch of people would want to watch me ramble and forget common words. Go figure lol. I'm glad I could bring something positive to your day! You certainly don't have to do that. Acknowledgement is more than enough. Very cool of your brother-in-law and, very cool gift in return. It's definitely a knife built to work. Charlie will never turn down a scratch, especially on the belly. Have a great day!
Congratulations on 400 subscribers 🎉🎉!! That electricians knife is a nice one. Those knives are really built for serious work. Thanks for showing it to us.
Thank you very much! I'm very pleased with it. They were definitely built to use hard. Have a great day!
Love Camillus, love Camco, and a good electricians knaf!! Honestly, a great carry.. .ty for sharing brother!! 🫡👍👊🙏💯🇺🇸🔪🔥 CANADA 🇨🇦 🍁 STRONG 💪!!
I'm very pleased with it. Very solid and practical! Could easily be a regular carry, even though flay head screws are less common these days. Have a great day! Good girl, Abby!
Great knife and congrats 400 and climbing!
Thank you very much! Have a great day!
Congrats on 400 subs brother! Thanks for the shoutout!! I appreciate it! Glad the stickers finally arrived!! Great video!! Keep up the good work!
Thank you very much, Mickey! You're very welcome! Have a great day!
Agree - people need to work on the “handy” skills. Proper use and care of knives is one such skill. You’ve got a couple of really useful ones there👍
Thank you very much! Self-reliance is great for yourself and, makes you of benefit to others. A good tool knife is a great thing to have on hand. Have a great day!
Love the knives, especially the Browning. I was hoping someone would comment further on the “copper” on the one knife. Wonder if it was copper, with some sort of “plating” over it. Copper was often used as a base material for such situations.
Very possible that it is a copper base with a nickle-silver plating. I've not looked into whether there is such a thing as a copper and nickle-silver allow. Very well could be a misprint as well. Thanks for having a look!
I like the looks of that style of knife👍 Too bad you got one with some problems. I normally have really good luck with Rough Ryder knives, which surprises me given their low price. Reminds me more of a modern production Case knife….
It's certainly along the lines of the full size Case Sod Buster. I've also had mostly good luck with RR knives, especially the more recent product lines. They've really been stepping up their game. Despite it's issues, this one has help up and I often carry it. I've since learned the local coal miners used to carry similar knives, many to cut plugs of chewing tobacco.
@@Pocket_EDC When I said that it reminded me of a modern Case knife, I meant that its assortment of *problems* reminds me of Case🤪
@@mikeadams2538 Ah! LMAO! Yes. Case has been having some serious quality control issues in recent years. I've often said, "I don't mind paying RR prices for RR quality. I don't want to pay Case prices for RR quality". That said, RR has really been stepping up their game. I won't buy a Case on-line. Too risky for the prices we have to pay up here. have a great day!
LOVE THAT
It's a great moderate size knife. Easy on the pocket and well designed for daily use. Have a great day, George!
Never had seen those particular Frost knives before - learn something new every day. I’ve got that same Rough Ryder Dog Bone. Mine was called a “Muskrat”, but it’s not by most definitions. I ordered it online, so didn’t get to check it out in advance. Was disappointed that the whistle wasn’t an actual “dog whistle”. Likewise, my example had the same problems as yours. Normally, 99.9% of the Rough Ryders I buy are excellent fit/finish/performance, but this one was the one dud…
I've since spoken with other creators who have the RR knife. The issues seem to be across the board. Especially the tight pull on the secondary blade. Likely a design flaw. I've picked up three now from the Frost line. They also have a "Blue Tick" series with brown bone and the dog head shield. You would think they would call the blue bone by that name. Take care!
🎉🎉🎉 CONGRATS on the 400 sub milestone!!🎉🎉🎉 Really nice knife! I wanted to be sn electrician when I graduated, but couldn't afford the school. And in those days I wouldn't be able to find anyone who would apprentice a female. So my brother got the job with the electric company & was a lineman for awhile & now a big wig! Anyway, thanks for sharing! 😺⚔️
Thank you very much! It was a great milestone. Who would have thought that many people would want to listen to me ramble and forget words lol. My ladies youngest daughter is on a wait list to study to be an electrician. Hopefully it works out for her. Thankfully, we're in a better place now as far as people being able to do what they want. Have a great day!
Congrats on 400 subs brother, well deserved! 👍 Excellent Thankful Thursday and thanks for the kind words. 🙏 Take care my friend and Cheers!

Rocking your channel brother, each video better than the previous. Keep going strong!!!
Thanks, brother. You've been putting out some solid stuff as well. Keep up the good work!
Cool knife. I have seen a occasionally small skinner /cleaver that looks similar , but the rounded sharpened tip sets it apart. Man those Mitts are awesome 👍
Thanks, brother! The mittens are great. The gal who made them for me makes everything, up to and including full length seal skin coats. She also has a full polar bear rug hanging on her wall. Have a great ay!
Thanks for the kind words. Great knife, I am hoping I can find my Dads hunting knife. Have a great day and God bless.
You're welcome, Stan, though I tripped up over the channel name. Hope you find that knife. Have a great day!
I had never seen one of those before. Very cool. I can see how the design would be handy for that task, it's actually pretty ingenious when you think about it. Thank you for showing that one Todd. Have a great day my friend, and God bless.
Thanks, Jason. People are very good at developing the tools they need for a task. Some beaver trapper, way back when, probably blunted a knife for the purpose and others latched onto the idea. I expect the Spay Blade probably started in the same way. Just one farming clipping the tip off of a blade after accidentally poking a bull. Have a great day!
Super cool Beaver skinner. I've seen them around but never used one
Thanks Jason! Unless you had a beaver to skin, or peanut butter to spread on a big piece of bread, there wouldn't be much of a call for one. 😅 Have a great day!
@Pocket_EDC my great grandfather was the end of the line around here trapping Beavers. We did muskrats until covid hit. Never alot 20 to 30 a year
Yep, that changes my appraisal. BOKER started using round shields in 1910. The shield on your knife is not original. So the date on your knife would be c1910 😊
Thank you. Glad i made that caveat in the video. What leads you to believe the shield is not original to the knife?
@Pocket_EDC it's common for boker shields to fall out. People replace them w/newer shields. The shield that went with that knife had a tree with BOKER underneath it. If you look carefully at the shield. The wear isn't consistent with the wear on the bone and blades.
Ahh. Got ya. I've seen the shield you reference in other pictures. Thanks for the info. Enjoy the beach!
Interesting tool!
Thanks brother! Have a great day!
Great video Todd. I have trapped a few beaver. Unfortunately not for the hides really but because they're a real nuisance and were damming up a creek on a friend of mines property. Have you ever eaten beaver? If not, it is fantastic. To me, it tastes more like beef than any wild game I've ever eaten, including Moose and Elk. Thanks for sharing that old beaver skinner!!
Thanks, Mickey! I've not eaten it myself. When I was young, my folks would go to an annual "Wild Meat" party. Beaver Tail was often on the menu. Moose is my favorite meat. Then caribou. I assume elk would be right in there. Thanks for having a look! Have a great day!
Very interesting, thank you
Thanks for having a look! Have a great day!
Cool piece!
Thanks, Tim. Cool show last night. Have a great day!
@@Pocket_EDC You’re welcome and thank you my friend! You too 👊🏻

Thanks, brother. The gal who made them for me makes full length seal hide coats and a variety of other awesome items. She has a full Polar Bear rug hanging on her wall. Have a great day!
@@Pocket_EDC that is awesome
Beavers can swim right? So this knife should float right?😂 That is one cool looking knife, sounds like you and your father had a lot of fun together. I miss my son man, so many things we are missing because of distance. He lives in Manning Alberta, he’s always sending me pictures of hunters showing off their trophies. He works for the City, he’s always picking up moose parts. Transport trucks demolish them. I actually laughed when you said peanut butter, that’s the first thing I thought when I saw it.😂🤣
I grew up in a town about 20 min from Manning.
Hey! That's what you need! A pet beaver to retrieve your stuff! We did and still do. It will soon be time to head back and start getting the camp ready. May get some videos back there. My young fella has no interest in this stuff. I hope he has a freezer full of "moose parts". Would be such a waste just to landfill them. Moose is the best meat. It would be a good bagel knife lol. Have a great day!
That's awesome knife. That sucks no more money in trapping
Yup. I'm sure some people still do it. Can't imagine making any kind of living at it now. Put money in my pocket as a young fella. O good muskrat would fetch $15. Have a great day!
The altoids stove is so awesome!! What an awesome mod! Thank you for sharing
Thanks, brother and, again, sorry for screwing your channel name up.
@@Pocket_EDC no worries at all brother 👍🏼
My girlfriend was actually pulled up on stage to sing this song, Henry Lee Sommers, I never felt more emasculated in my whole life. She didn’t even know who I was when she came back. 😂🤣 That relationship didn’t last long.😂
That's saying something cuz Henry was not the most attractive of men. 🤔😝 Sorry! Couldn't help myself! She obviously had bad taste.
@@Pocket_EDC I think it was more of the fun singer millionaire thing.😂🤣
Good thing it was a free concert, I was broke.😂🤣
Great saying on that awesome green handled knife!! Love trappers
It is for sure. Thanks for having a look. Have a great evening!
That Altoid tin would definitely work in a pinch. Thanks for sharing that Todd, have a blessed day
