Duramax transfer case ATF Easy-Pack fill AMSOIL
Переглядів 2004 роки тому
EDIT: UA-cam dinged my first video for a radio playing music in the background. I added a white noise track to hopefully drowned out enough of the song to not get flagged this time. After installing the new transmission, I had to fill up the transfer case. The fill hole is right behind the cross member and the Easy-pack made filling it fast and easy. Less than 2 minutes to fill with 2 quarts. T...

Did you grease up the o'ring? Is your motor a Vulcan? The freeze plugs are probably rusting out, from what I understand. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for watching. I don't think I did grease up that oring. I should have. From what I remember, I do have the Vulcan motor. It is the pushrod version, not the overhead cam. I'm so glad for that. I've heard horror stories about the timing chains on those.
@360plussynthetics you probably do have a Vulcan, a 3.0 liter pushrod 12 valve. Something about it makes a lot of rust. Probably the best you can do is use distilled water in your mix, and have a filter as you do. Changing the freeze plugs and flushing out down there would be great, but that seems to be a major pita, at least on my Taurus. I plan on using a polypropylene strainer housing with an 80 mesh cleanable screen, mainly to keep the heater core from reclogging every year.
@dwayne0t awesome, thanks for the info. I'd like to pull the whole thing and freshen up the rings, bearings, and check the heads one of these days.
@@360plussyntheticsyou sound like you know your stuff. I wish we were neighbors, then I might get the nerve for a teardown like that :p
@dwayne0t I'd love to have another ranger neighbor near by. I'm it an expert but have rebuilt a few engines in the past. Just need to decide to do it someday.
Not worth the cost
Thats exactly what i need on my truck now brother❤
I got a lb7 03 classic love the od lockout if need be but cone spring ill definitely be doing this swap. Im pulling 24 mpg city and 28 interstate but yes drive and 75 or 78 mph the conversion kit for 6th just makes the sense 1900 rpm is alison butter. But thanks for the video cant wait to get this done
28mpg 🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 oka we had a 2wd reg cab long box 02 duramax best we could get was 20mpg at 110km/h
@taylorh3930 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I got proof buddy I average 22 to 24mpg city and 28 to 30 highway or interstate and yes that's a fully loaded trailer dozers semies combines and heads I haul so sorry ya got a shit year but early 03 to later 04 lb7s got phenomenal mpgs I also have mods done as well sorry not sorry bud
For what type of vehicle was it?
Thus is my 1993 Ranger. I bought it used. The coolant was brown from rust and who knows what that the prior owner did for maintenance
@360plussynthetics oh wow thats crazy almost like mud
I ordered the Wix 24019 base with the 24017 filter for my 2000. I flushed 23 gallons of water and Prestone flush through it and it's still full of rust, much better than it was but still not coming out the same color as the coolant. Going to be hooking this up inline with the heater core intake hose.
TCM, is the tune unit.... Right?
Yes. Transmission Control Module. It's the programming for the transmission like the ECM is the programming for the engine.
@@360plussynthetics Thank you, for the knowledge!
The clip is not exactly straight forward, you can break it if you are not careful full.
Awesome. Just bought a couple of these hoping it would work just like this video showed. Affirmed my purchase. Thanks!
Vinegar, flush, CRL, use both, 1 gallons of vinegar, and water run it 20 minutes, let it sit over night, flush, CLR, 1/2 gallon and water, Do same, flash out 2 times. And your filler idea is wonderful, I do the same, 2007 ford explore, it has 50 k, it set more then it moved.
From what I heard is that the 01-05 they had the 6 speed in them but gm never put the valvebody for it until the lbz and up
That's exactly what I heard also. Transmission is the same, valve body is all that's different. Wish they would have done the 6pd from the start.
Mine needs that 6 speed swap as soon as possible I’m saving up to do it my self
is there a different wiring harness internally?
Nothing that we need to change. Just what comes with the valve body already installed. Everything is plug and play.
How much did it cost????Ty
From what I read filter or pan u add 7.4 quarts and if u do a full removal it takes 12.7 is this not correct
Sorry deep pan is additional 4 quarts sorry . So ur about right and I was wrong
No problem. Honestly, I have no accurate idea.. other than the deep pan adding 4qts, every time I do a fluid change, the amount I've had to add back has been different. I believe it all depends on how long you let it drain before putting the pan back on and filling back up. It seems like transmissions take a lot longer to finish draining than the engine for an oil change.
Just wondering have you had any problems with this conversion kit in your transmission? And what fluid did u use
I have not had any problems. They recommended using dex6 fluid, so I used AMSOIL ATL, which is their equivalent fuel efficient formula to dex6.
@@360plussynthetics can u share a link so I can buy it thanks
The conversion kit? I just went to duramaxtuner website and search for your spacific application. For the AMSOIL go here www.amsoil.com/c/transmission-fluid/19/?zo=1382872
Yes for amsoil
I appreciate your time and interest in the video. www.amsoil.com/guides/?zo=1382872 Here's a link to find spacific products for your vehicle.
I wouldn't use brakeclean on any painted surfaces, you'll be sorry. I bough some degreaser in a gallon jug from Harbor Freight. I mix it up in a gallon pump sprayer for engines. MUCH cheaper than spray cans, and won't damage the paint.
Yup. I've moved away from brake cleaning everything. I got one of those pump sprayers from HF also and use purple power degreaser.
My 2024 freightliner m2 transmission temp gauge is sitting at 125 and didn't move all day of driving. Is that normal? I only have 11k miles and noticed the gauge working before. Any advice?
Sorry, I'm not familiar with semis or their trans temps. Could be a difference in location and ambient temps. 40° in one state and 85° in another. Heck even in the same state, one week to the next can fluctuate this time of year. Hope everything is good.
Good video.
hey, i am haveing issues with my allison transmission, Freight Liner 2007 m2 the range inhibit light comes on when the truck reaches temp of about 180, then it shuts off. but if the truck is below that temp no issues occurs, any ideas or thoughts? please let me know!
Oh wow. I'm sorry, I don't know. My best guess would be an internal temperature sensor or switch. If you have a code reader, I'd hook it up the next time it happens and see what codes show up.
I’ve seen a few of these videos but no one wants to actually film the installation. I’m curious why that wasn’t shown.
Ah, sorry about that. I didn't think about it at the time. It is pretty straight forward though. Unbold the one and put the new one back in its place. The two valve bodies are identical in bolt patterns and such. There's no extra gasket or other check balls . The only difference is the position of that one solenoid. Thanks for watching and the interest.
Thanks for doing this. I'd like to add one to my 2007 4l v6 for preventative maintenance.
Preventative maintenance is key. Mine was so nasty when I got it, this ended up being the only way to clean the system no matter how many flushes I did to it.
Any updates? What filter change interval are you at now? I'm thinking of installing a coolant filter on my 4l v6 2007 ranger. More as preventative maintenance as the vehicle ages. No other reason. Thanks for the videos.
Thanks, I appreciate the comments. After the first filter, I've changed it one more time. I'm to the point of changing it if instant feeling a drop in heat output in the heater core to keep me warm. It's still doing good, so I'll probably do once a year from here on out.
What was the valve body brand or name of kit you used?
I got the kit from duramaxtuner.
@@360plussynthetics thanks
What was the MPG increase?
I honestly didn't notice any or negligible. If I maintained 65mph everywhere, I probably would, but this has enabled me to do 75 with a lot more ease and comfort in the drivability. RPMs stay just below 2k at that speed.
Thanks, I was thinking of doing it, Since you haven’t seen a big improvement I won’t bother.
Could the pressure from the lift pump be causing the leaks in the factory filter housing?
I was wondering that also, but I had/have no way of checking that pressure, and the new one hasn't leaked a drop. 🤷🏻♂️
This guy does not know what he's doing you never do maintenance to a lawn mower tractor with the spark plugs connected
Yes,get a vent cap and DITCH those stupid nozzles!
Amsoil. Best you cn get. Check your PPM of zinc on both small engine Amsoil vs. Amsoil diesel oil. You'll find diesel oil is higher in this dept. Comes in many weights.
It's great oil
Go Trump
In my opinion, it's always better to pay a little extra if you want your car to last. Ive only ever used Amsoil 5w30 Signature Series in my 2016 5.0. Did a blackstone labs analysis 6k miles ago and all wear metals were below average for the miles. Very impressed by Amsoil's performance and I'll never use any other oil for my cars.
Awesome! Thanks for the input 👍🏻
why isn't amsoil dexos approved
Amsoil is formulated beyond manufacturers' specs in all their lines. The only ones that aren't dexos or have the starburst logo( API) approval are the signature series lines. The OE and XL line are. The reason for this is so that AMSOIL can change and improve the formula any time they want. For any company to get those logo approval, they have to submit the formula and PAY for the stamp to use it. Rest assured that AMSOIL is ever improving and changing their formulas to exceed any manufacturers minimum specifications.
Royal Purple!
Good stuff. A true PAO oil. I'll stick to the FIRST synthetic!
Nice video, I use 10-30 signature edition in my 91 ZR1. No issues yet 167K.
Go with their “BEST” …. Never go cheap on your Harley !
I bought a set of two Schosch 6x9s for my two door speakers in my 04 Cherokee, they sound good as hell for $40
I have a ‘03 GMC Duramax Lucky to find a truck with 49,000 original miles . I’m interested in conversion . Who supplied your kit ? See those rpm ‘s drop was something . Currently at 2000 I’m running at 65
Duramax tuner supplies it just look it up and another thing that doesn’t help your current situation is your gear ratio and tire size. Depending on what those are contributes to either the higher or lower rpm’s at highway speeds.
Hey thank you, I just bought a 93 and this was super helpful
👍
👍
It's not a couple bucks more than what you can buy in the store, it's double the price.
ONLY way to go!
i just changed my '16 lexus nx200t oil, (0w20) using OE f/SS... i will only be running till wife & i go 2 AMSOIL convention in july... still getting around 32 mpg on hi-way going 55/60 mph... never lower than 28 mpg @ 70 mph... engine runs smoother than i thought it wood... luv my AMSOIL, which i use & sell... 🥰 good video 🤣
Awesome. Maybe I'll see you there. Haven't got my tickets yet, and will be on a job at that time, but the boss says I can take a few days off to go. Fingers crossed it all works out.
Lmao split hair on that! 😂 Thank you for the info! Got an 04 duramax I would like to keep alive for as long as I can 💪🏾😎
I called Amsoil Technical Support & the oils protection are the same, the difference is the drain intervals.
So your telling me all I have to do is change the these two pieces and boom 6speed trans
why the shakes?
Even with Amsoil OE you'll be better off than other leading name brand "Full synthetics" from the automotive stores ?
That’s the best all in the world. I looked at all the test. But went up to 50.o a gallon. I’m Going to mobile one it’s cheaper. I’ll take good margaritas and cheap oil before Amsoil. Lol.
It may be the best.... but Biden stopped the oil industry and now it's 15 dollars per quart. I switched to Kirkland synthetic for now, I can't afford premium but when the prices drop I'll go back to running AMSOIL
Truth. I agree with you.
@@360plussynthetics If the US goes back to producing, fuel/oil drops dramatically along with the prices of necessities here. Because if the oil worker goes home happy, he's gonna want a steak, so companies fight hard to attract such customers therefore tough competition drops prices as long as they keep buying their products they keep prices reasonable to keep their customers happy.
