Vintage BlackHawk 916 3/4" Drive Ratchet Clean-Up (1925-1930)
Here's a cool old filthy rusty ratchet.
From my research, this one was made from 1925 to 1930.
It's cool that She has Her original Drive Plug. I wouldn't know where to find one if this one was missing. It's probably worth more than the ratchet.
She cleaned up better than I thought. I was going to do a mirror finish but I like the look of the patina She has now. Save an old tool today Y'all.
Thanks For Watching.

This thing had me thinking for a few days about how it works. I still can't figure it out. It sucks air in on both strokes. It must be some sort of bilge pump or something like that. It's weird. I'll stick a piece of tubing on it then see if it'll suck up water. But then, where would the water go??? If you know what this thing is, let me know please.. It's driving me nuts..

great........... I even have so many that they fill the house. 😫😫
@@Explore_everything_90 Hahaha. I know the feeling. I have tools scattered around the house too. Good thing is, if we ever need a tools, they’re everywhere.
I even have both of the ringer units to. Found one in a super old hardware store way up on a shelf covered in dust. Asked if I could buy it. They said sure to my surprise. Works great but I need to service it for real before the next usage. No running to Wally World to get parts eh? These old washers are pretty dang tough but I never overload them. That is key. You had just the right amount of shop towels in yours for washing. Thanks again on this video!
I have a couple of vintage Kenmore machines. I should probably service them to. Thanks on vid.

@@Living-The-Dream I try. I’m about to start a “Puffy Quilt” for My Baby Girl. I’m going to make it on a 1890 W&W treadle machine. I’m contemplating if I should film it. I’m amazed how perfect this 134 year old machine works. She truly is a work of art.

Nicely done Spider. Looks great
@@ivanstiles7030 Thanks Ivan. I love how these rusty, filthy ones clean up so easily. I think all that stuff protects the metal underneath. The socket came out great. The video doesn’t give it justice. Time to find more cool old tools.
Cool ratchet and nice cleanup
@@westhighlandsshop Thank You Sir. This was a fun one because I didn’t have to do much. I wanted to go with a mirror finish but once all the rust & dirt came off, She looked good like a 90 year old ratchet should. Now it’s time to find something else to work on.
I am pretty certain that I have this Singer in my garage. It was my grandmother's and I got it when she died in the 1980's. I don't know what to do to get it in order again. So, thanks for the demo.
Which Singer?? The 48K or the 221 ?? If You need any help, just let me know. I can make a video for You. No task to big or small. Ask away ok. Thanks for watching.

@@kitmaira Thanks. It’s amazing how these old ones get back into laying down beautiful stitches again with very little effort, and with just SMO on their bodies to bring back those beautiful decals. Just imagine what these machines made over the past 80-116 years. Kind of spooky to think about huh??? Hahahaha. I’ve been out of it lately. I need to get back to the tools and cool stuff. Hopefully I get my mojo back soon.
@@spiderlovesbeerohyeah4760 I’ve been watching a bunch of car customizing shows lately. There is a part of me that wants to get an upholstery sewing machine, but I have run out of space in my two shops. I have to start offloading some tools. But if I did, I’d just buy more. I see nice antique sewing machines at estate sales all the time for cheap cheap cheap. My wife has a Singer, I think it is fifties. It’s in our upstairs bedroom, but we rarely climb the stairs any more. I swear, since I retired I’m busier than ever.
@@kitmaira That’s my goal too. I want to lay down some 3” pleats for some cool 1950’s Tuck n Roll in My Oldsmobile. I was told long ago, “if You want to learn, start making baby quilts”. I guess it’s to practice long straight stitches that’ll I’ll need for the seat covers. I’m getting better with every quilt I make. I’m still nervous to even attempt sewing on vinyl or leather.
