Overcooked for sure.
I like them dry. I don't add butter, spray, mop sauce and more brown sugar . Haha. Some people like em wet for sure. They for sure were not over cooked though. Its Like asking a pitmaster why a brisket is burnt when it's just the bark. ; )
@@LetsDoThisWithEvan Watching the way they fell apart when you attempted to slice them was the indicator that they were overcooked. It's not a wet/dry issue.
Been making them that way at the meat shop for 20+ years. Customers don't seem to mind. Might be a preference thing. I have ordered other ribs at restaurants and I dont like stiff Hard to pull apart ribs. While both styles involve smoking, pull apart ribs often require longer cooking times to achieve extreme tenderness, sometimes involving wrapping in foil to accelerate the process. If you brine them before hand and still do a long cook they tend to hold together better. I Don't think there's a wrong way provided you like them. Doing a wagyu prime rib for Xmas. Make sure to follow along and see that baby pull apart. @ghankghank
Would this affect heating also? If vehicle is not blowing hot air?
@mutedxanime I've read some comments where it would work if air was blowing hot out of "some vents". But not sure if it wasn't blowing out of any.
Would this same concept work for the opposite… it’s cold in Chicago rn and the passengers side is nice and hot but the driver side is cold so can I try this see if it starts throwing out heat?
I believe so. Reading the other comments it looks like it has worked in reverse also.
@ I appreciate it and love the video
What knife are you using?
Hey there 👋. My black knife is a Mercer High carbon. The skinning knife was my buddies. Not sure what that one was. But all the knives in the butcher shop are Mercer.
I have a 2015 Passat but I don’t have climate control. So, I cannot do the button reset. My heat and AC work fine. The fan blows hard. My issue is it seems like all of the doors are closed. I can hear the fan blowing and light heat or AC comes out vents but switching the mode knob doesn’t change anything. Will moving this arm help?
@zachareec2026 you can try without removing the side panel like others have stated. You can see the actuator arm through the gap under the steering wheel. Try to locate with a flashlight first. But there's other mechanisms that open the doors. So it might not fix your exact problem. If anyone does free diagnostics around you , you could get them to read what's happening. You don't need to have a check engine light for that if their scan tool doesn't suck.
OMG dude learn how to use a camera
I know, right? Haha. Hard to hold it and use both hands. I need a camera man.
Thank again for being a great teacher and butcher!
My pleasure! Glad to be a help. 🤗
Thank you!
Very welcome! Glad it's a semi easy if not but a temporary fix. I've done this to mine over a dozen times now. Haha
Perfect video - ideal length and detail (and no background music!). Maybe include make and model in the video description?
Thank you for the kind words! Yeah, I can add the model number into the description. Might help people with that particular model find it better. Most front loaders will be the similar I think .
Wow, that was a job!
Dexter!
If my 2015 Passat TDI quit blowing hot air suddenly, could i *pull* on this same actuator arm to switch the system from cold air to hot air?
@@NolanWells-k4u won't hurt anything to try. Maybe?
Wonderful job! Informative video, thanks for sharing!
Hey Georgiao, Glad you enjoyed it!
Great job.
@ozkary thanks! Hard to think it was over a year ago! I have another ceiling i redid in my basement. Check it out! ua-cam.com/video/6FrJ0Zfxy00/v-deo.html
Maybe an 8oz stainless steel cup at the bottom instead of aluminum.
@@javier0304 that... is a great idea. Using tomorrow so I'll give it a go.
Potentially stupid question: my problem is that I don’t have heat. Will this “fix” get it into the hot mode?
@shawnbrennan7526 there are no stupid questions. You're all good. I don't think it will work because you can usually always get heat. Might be your heater core. If nothing else try holding those 2 buttons like in the video and see if it cycles through all the vent positions.
@@LetsDoThisWithEvan Heater core replaced last year under warranty, but that didn’t fix the problem. Now they want $1,600 to fix the blend door actuator, WHICH THEY WERE RIGHT NEXT TO LAST YEAR!!!!!
@shawnbrennan7526 well, it doesn't take much to give the blend door arm a poke. Try it out and let me know! Hope it works!
@@LetsDoThisWithEvan Poking didn’t help me. 1.5 hours to get the part out. 45 minutes to put everything back together. (I just put a headless screw in the third spot, so it’s just a post.) I have heat again for less than $40.
@@shawnbrennan7526 I'm surprised you responded only an hour ago. I have been having the same issue for the past few years. Eventually the heat would turn on or the AC would turn on over the course of a month when I set the dial to hot or cold, but this year it did not. I was just able to to get the actuator to switch over to the heat setting ten minutes ago and came back to let you know. I had to take part of the lower panel under the steering wheel of get something in to push the arm up. I had tried sticking something in through the gap below the steering wheel but I didn't have any luck.
Short, to the point and informative! Thanks, I have no idea if this will come in handy for me but still feel it was worth watching . Cheers
@@phillipphil1615 thanks! I tend to make videos I would watch. Give the info and leave. Haha
You would be jail locked for taking fat out of picanha here in Brazil 😂
We have some good Brazilian steakhouses around and they serve it with fat cap on. Very good. Jail worthy offense i agree.
Do you have the update video on how it turned out Butyl vs silicon? Im trying to repair my father in law camper.
@lesleymata1414 I'm going up this weekend and I'll take a video for you! I'll post it next week. Last time I looked they both seemed to be doing well. It's been 5 months about. All summer it was outside , unshaded. So we will see! Thanks for reaching out!
ua-cam.com/video/s_c9m_DU8QM/v-deo.html
Wow uploaded 13 hours ago. Great timing. I been trying to search videos all week to see the easiest way to do this: I thought of spray foam as well. But it wouldn’t blend in well. I didn’t think of the black paint. Maybe brown paint will be even better. My new insurance company is making me repair my wall.😢 so much for trying to save a few $. My other idea was to put some sort of wood plank and just hammer it in there so it looks replaced. lol I mean the wall still has 10-20 years left. I’m not replacing 80ft of old railroad ties
Haha. Funny how that works sometimes. Must be that time of year!!
The fresh air vent closes on my 2013 Passat after about 10 mins driving. Tried the reset but only works temporarily.
I would get somone with a nice scan tool to hit it for free if you can. Even without check engine lights the scanner can check all stored codes. Could be a faulty temperature sensor.
What a great video! ❤
Is there a blend door on the passenger side also? I don’t get heat on just the passenger side.
@tryhardjody142 pretty sure it is the same mechanism for both. Just stuck one way vs the other. Did you hold the 2 buttons to reset the blend doors?
Good question. I have air on both sides, but heat only works on the driver side. I get wind out the passenger side, but it's just luke warm at best instead of nice and warm like the driver side.
Great!
Thanks!
How to remove the panel?
@Balumallisetty star bit / 6 point screwdriver I belive. 2 or 3 screws. Might not even have to take off the panel. I just took it off for the video
How do the seams on the ends look? I saw you caulk the seams there the boards run along side each other but what on the ends where one board goes “into” the other? Thinking about doing this but worried it’ll look like a bunch of tiles instead of looking seamless.
@cookwithdrbrooke the ends should match up of you have them turned and the patterns are together. Caulk like on the video for the side edges. But it would be a bit more difficult. That is why I did the wood border. It runs down the middle and outside edges to hide all of those end joints. Hop that helps. Could always go with a more low profile board , look up furring strips to use on the end pieces. That was going to be my other option. I'll put a link right here for my other ceiling I did in my house. ua-cam.com/video/6FrJ0Zfxy00/v-deo.html
does passat b6 have the same?
@dzekoljub oh man, I wouldn't know . So sorry . Not a mechanic. Just got a tip to do this from one .
@@LetsDoThisWithEvan i just asked, ill try tomorrow when i come home. 😁
@@dzekoljub good luck! Let everyone know!
@@LetsDoThisWithEvan no worries i will 😁
Smart!
Save us from being an idiot 🤗thanks for this video
Lol, no problem. Glad you found it!
Can we contact your for a business enquiry ?
Is this for the recirculation system?
@karanmehrotra3479 not sure. I'm pretty basic on it all. Got the tip from my mechanic friend. Basically all the VW actuators fail. It's when , not if. You'll know of some vents blow cold air. So, AC only ? Any version of it.
Awesome video. Just what I needed, thanks so much.
@apriltipton9719 You're very welcome and thanks for stopping by!
Great idea. Thanks for the video.
@mostlyme2539 thanks! Hopefully gives some ideas on what can be done. Few ideas different ways to go about it.
My HVAC is more basic, so no dual zone climate control. I have A/C blowing out of the defroster and a little on the left and right side vents but zero air blowing out the center two vents. I understand there are 3 actuators. Is it the actuator on the right side behind the glove box? I don't know if I can contort myself to look.
I have the same problem but on the tongue end (so fewer problems with lights). I have not yet removed the rotted wood. What size board fit that space? Did you cut the rails that hold the screw cover strips or bend them up? I'm thinking of using a PVC board instead of wood.
@davidjosephhansen8555 1 x 6 pine I belive and coated it with anti penetrating stain. I did not take off the rails but scraped them out good and cleaned em. Pvc would be a good choice. Skips some steps for sure! Rewiring wasn't fun.
Looks great!
I have a 2012 VW Passat. I thought this might be my issue as well, but my door is closing all the way, and I do have some cool air coming out the driver side and center vents. Here is my issue, AC on, center vents only. Far right passenger sine 47 degrees, passenger center, 55 degrees, driver center 60 degrees and driver far left 70 degrees. AC was service, no leaks and pressure were good. The temp readings were taken at idle and 86 degrees outside. However, when taking these readings when the temp is 100 degrees outside, they are all 10+ degrees higher. I am assuming there might be another actuator causing this issue? Any help would be much appreciated.
I would have no idea. Did you try resetting them like at the beginning of the video holding the 2 buttons? If you manually switch it from hear to AC do you see the actuator arm moving on its own?
Thanks so much for this video! Your tip worked on my 2016 Passat. At first I tried accessing the arm from under the steering column with a long screwdriver as others have suggested in the comments, but it wouldn’t budge. So I removed the side panel under the dash and gave the arm a hard push with a screwdriver and it finally moved back into the ‘cold’ position. In my case it seems the arm was stuck pretty hard, so it needed a some extra encouragement. Anyway, many thanks!!!!!
You're very welcome! Enjoy the cool breeze 😎 👌
Nicely done. I ran my 4 single strands of #6 wire in 2 inch pvc conduit instead of just buried. Code here otherwise requires gravel below, sand, and gravel above.
So interesting that each state, county, country ect has different codes. Bringing in all that extra fill would be a pain. How far down did you have to go? Conduit would have been my next choice. Cheaper wire and didn't have to go as deep. The GFCI thing still get me though. Lots of extra money 💰
Congrats! 🎉
Thanks! Might make a longer more in depth video later that will answer more questions people may have.
I thought it would be much more expensive. That's a pretty decent price. Have you considered solar power for in the future?
@CXDDLY maybe, lean more towards that when we build an actual structure like a cabin. This was all just a quick fix to use the property more quickly. My inlaws also needed electric for their camper. Solar from what I seen isn't going to run a 50amp outlet. But I haven't researched enough.
Here from imgur, love to see the progress. Good luck!
Thanks for coming to check it out! Much appreciated. I'll keep the updates coming.
Same!
Very interesting
Thanks for the comment. Hard to find any straight info on this kind of stuff. Hoping to let people get a look behind the curtain.
Thanks for this video man! Nudged it with a long screw driver without removing the panel and it worked. Appreciate people like you saving the rest of us.
@kyushchawla8614 no problem! I suffered a long time before I figured out the fix. Replacing that actuator is something I never want to do. I keep my AC on all winter now too.. lol. Glad you found the video!
@@LetsDoThisWithEvan Oh okay. Does it mean you can’t adjust the temperature control in the winter. Does the door get stuck again?
Yes, it can. More than likely it will. Ive had to do this multiple times. Usually if someone else drives my car and doesn't know. @kyushchawla8614
Same problem on a passat B8 but can not find the arm on the passenger side ... look like lots of panel to remove. I only coukd remove the glove box
Wrong side. You want to go into the driver's side. Hope it helps!
Ok so there is only 1 white little arms on the driver side. My car is right hand drive and the problem is tge passenger side actuator. So you said I have still have to look for that lever on driver side. Ok will look later on Thank you
Poked it and it didn’t move 😭
That sucks! Is the hot air coming out the right 2 vents when AC is on? What year car?
Having a go at it, feel like I'm going to break the arm I don't want to be too ruff
You definitely want to give it a solid push. You won't break it. That being said don't take a crow bar to it ; ) . Let me know how it goes!!
Felt like I was gonna break it end just left it alone. I have extended warranty, I'll just get it fixed. But the video was very helpful.
I kept messing with and popped the arm off. Smh. Mine must be defective.
@somaliahwallace987 oh my! First I've heard of that! Not like it was working anyways I guess. Hope the repair isn't too much. 😕
i had the same issue and replacing the power cord worked perfectly. thank you.
You're so very welcome! Glad it worked for you!
do you have to add water at the end after the salt ? or the system will do that next time it regenerates ?
@guachito33 the system does it on its own next time like you said. Thanks for Checking out the video!
This worked for me too!!!!! Awesome video!!!
I have a 2017 Passat and also don’t have to remove the cover. Was able to adjust from under my steering wheel 😊
@ericaA205 that's great! Thanks for the messege. Also, I'll put my cover back on then and give it a go! Haha. I've had to do this 12 X's plus.
The memories you'll make!
