Why would anyone talk about Real Estate that doesn't have a price displayed. How absurd. That House needs to go to rehab yeah yeah yeah. $45K. My best offer.

Call me weird, but I'd try to salvage as much of the bathroom ( hot pink, and all) as possible. But you're right about the full gut. Complete tear down new roof, walls for mold inspection, windows, and double check all the flooring. The built in kitchen eating nook is cute as well, I'd gut, but put it back in the new plans.

Why does the plumbing have two very wide pipes directly under the bathroom? I would think one wide pipe would be suffcient for the toilet. Maybe there is a toilet in the bedroom closet.

Its not a structure of historical significance, but it has seen a lot of history. Just like in Barn Finders it has a more modern exterior slathered over old timber. It would not be economically feasible to completely correct every defect, but for a low sale price a DIY'er could make that livable and fix the basement and support beams to make it more useable and safe - but it will never be as nice as a newer build and at some point in time the land value will be high enough to usher in a tear down and modern build.

I like the old house. It needs love and money, unfortunately. I am short-ish so no ceiling height issues for me, lol. It needs a family to love it. It could be really cute and has nothing wrong with it that can’t be fixed. I hope someone falls in love with it.

The peeling paint is probably calcimine that was painted over during the years. The best fix is to remove all of it and prime and repaint. Easy fix. It's common to see it flake in places like the kitchen and bath.

The ceilings are asbestos acoustic tiles I think. They were a good cheap solution to redoing the ceiling as opposed to re-plastering. The asbestos was also fire proof!

No to the over done "open concept". The character is completely lost. Separation of space is actually very nice, especially when having company. People can watch the game in one place, while you talk elsewhere. You don't feel like you're sitting on top of everyone. I wish house flippers would stop watching HGTV

I’m surprised no vent above the stove. My parents house doesn’t have one either and I remember how bad the food smell would linger and get on clothes and just wasn’t that good smelling after awhile.

This house has an odd layout on the first floor. I like that the wood was not painted and it has the original doors. It makes me so sad that people are losing their homes. I would be devastated if I lost mine.

Wouldn't necessarily call these drop ceilings, since a traditional drop ceiling leaves a large void between the original and the new. But these ones are normally put in place in older homes because the plaster fails. Wasn't expecting a single family home, I thought this would have been a duplex. With this house, if somebody wanted to, they could make a true Master Bedroom by removing that large walk in closet on the 2nd floor and making that the bathroom, without having to remove any of the other bedrooms. Lots of potential here.

Sometimes homeowners "lowered" their ceilings to conserve heat or to cover up failing plaster. Also, was that a utility sink filled with water in the basement?

Nice to see one that is in decent shape. That driveway needs to be fixed so that the water doesn't run into the foundation. That could be why the easement window in the basement was boarded up the way it was in addition to keeping unwanted visitors out. The upstairs bath will need a update though everything else seems to only need some paint or such to be livable.

I think the two walls inside the front door were not original. The woodwork is different. It does close it in. Any house of this age would have been open across the front rooms.

I had that In my kitchen. When I tore out the kitchen my contractor was surprised as was i that there was another ceiling under the tiled ceiling. It caused a small issue for him because all the measurements were already done none of us thought there was another plaster ceiling under the tiled one

A bit of a strange layout on the main floor, normally in a house like this, you would have both bedrooms on the same side opposite to your living room and kitchen.

Honestly when it comes to the home overall it really depends on the right buyer or if someone is into that old history they’d still buy it, I don’t think it’s a total loss but it will sure take a lot of work to fix the basement up and put new wood beams and a cement floor. With the shorter sealing there’s really not much you can do with the height. But if you were to take all of the popcorn sealing off you’d still probably take away a couple inches of the sealing or more, and underneath it there’s a high probability of really old wooden beams with this home considering its age,

The woodworking craftsmanship is there; love that upstairs foyer. Bedrooms upstairs, bathroom downstairs?, ahhh no. With my night time bathroom trips and those narrow steep stairs, too precarious. Yes, very low celings, typical on homes that old. I know a midget who would be perfect with this😊. Thanks.

Wow and I thought that my grandparents had the oldest house in Florence MA! The "structure" was built around 1850 and it was opened as a bar (possibly a legion club we aren't 100% with the history.) Somewhere in the late 1890's the bar burned down and was later turned into a house in the early 1900's. Around 1950ish my grandparents bought the house and was third owner of the property. The year before my grandmother passed away from complications of asthma. In March of this year my grandfather passed away. Now the new owners bought the house and will keep it original with some upgrades. My aunt and my mom were very excited to see the letter from the new owners. What remains in that house, is the unforgotten holiday memories.😢

With something like this if a buyer absolutely loves the house and wants to turn it back into a single family with a basement unit. That would be a possibility.
