We have 2 services also but we live stream our 2nd service. We are a portable church so we need to setup and tear down every week. There's not enough time in between services to setup our live stream equipment so we setup before 1st service. We use 1st service to fine tune things, especially the audio mix. We used to have two services during COVID when our occupancy was capped. We live-streamed the second service partly because it was more in line with the time frame that our congregation was used to when we only had one service. But like you said, it gave us a chance to get the audio better but it also helped us have a better understanding of the flow of the service and what the technical needs of the service would require, especially when there were different than our typical service. Now we are back to a single service and there have been a few times where something different was done and I didn’t have a good understanding of where the speaker would be in advance and didn’t have our PTZ camera pointed in the right place. So I just need to communicate with the new pastor more before the service to be sure I know how he is going to do things now.

I asked ProPresenter support directly regarding the subscription model and what happens if you stop paying. Their response below. In short, the watermark returns when you stop paying their subscription. I tried FreeShow on our Mac Mini Pro (M2). It is promising but still too early. It repeatedly froze on me (buttons stopped working) while trying to setup a project. Restarting it allowed me to continue until the next freeze. I will keep an eye out. --------- RENEWED VISION RESPONSE ON SUBSCRIPTION BELOW ------- Thanks for reaching out! Our model is purely subscription based so if you decided to stop paying for the service the software would function, but you would not be able to present from it without a watermark on the output. Our services have a much more traditional style of music. More dissolves than cuts. But I do on some songs that feature a soloist, is keep one camera tight, then another as a 2 or 3 shot, then switch the framing on the chorus. Then use PTZ's on instruments. we have the problem with a large room, full frame sensors and a limited budget for high end lens. Using a 50-600mm on two cameras, one can get tight, the other not so much.

For those interested - here's a deep dive into how and why these systems have the aforementioned drawbacks: The thing about these cheap wireless video systems with seemingly great range is that underneath there's a constant battle of quality - vs - latency - vs - range. Quality is self explanatory, uncompressed being the most true and pure form of monitoring with the sole wildcard being the quality of the monitor you're viewing it on. It also has the sometimes extremely vital benefit of being zero latency (from a practical point of view, not physics). The downside is it requires successfully delivering a huge amount of data with nearly no room for error. Any higher than insignificant interference introduced will visually impair the received picture because there is no time to re-transmit that missing data. Also sending this amount of data requires serious bandwidth and power and so there are wide channels designated within the 5 GHz and 6 GHz specifically for that purpose (these are not Wi-Fi). The cheaper wireless systems work over Wi-Fi bands. These bands are free to use all over the world, and you can transmit ANY kind of data over them. So the cheap versions have their TX encode and pack the video into a data stream and have RX decode it on the other side. This encoding/decoding process introduces the latency that ALL these kinds of systems incur but the faster it can process the image, the lower the latency. However, the faster the encoding - the lower the compressed image quality ends up so it's a direct trade between quality and latency. The very decent range (compared to low level, professional zero-latency wireless) actually comes from the combination of the above two factors: Forced latency (read below) allows there to be a two-way communication between TX & RX, working like an internet connection, meaning if there are packets (chunks of data) dropped (lost) along the way, the receiving side can request re-sending those and then fill the missing parts with new data - this type of transmission allows the system to deal with significant interference despite working with limited transmission power (capped by Wi-Fi frequency standards). Compressing the image more, leads to less data (packets) having to be sent overall which allows the above fallback mechanism to deal with ever greater interference and in practice helps achieve the range goals. A heavily compressed image can still look good, provided the algorithm used to do it is sophisticated and there are no shortcuts taken - neither can be achieved in a system like this. Sophisticated algorithms require powerful hardware and time to complete their work and there's no room for either here unless you want these TXs to be the size of a block battery and the latency to be 100 times higher. And so a compromise on quality has to be made to achieve the small size, quiet cooling and ever lower advertised latency. The poor quality and the lack of deeper blacks is a direct result of (what I'm assuming is) compressing the signal down to a YCbCr 4:2:0 8-bit with a "TV range" values of 16-256, meaning the lowest 16 luminance values (blacks) are gone, which in total is about the most economic you can get with digital video these days requiring around 4-8 Mbps for a (full quality at that compression level) 1080p30 signal. And this by itself doesn't necessarily have to always look terrible but all this has to be achieved on low-power, miniaturized hardware in a very limited window of time thus requiring the use of very fast and approximating algorithms resulting in poor end image quality.

How do you all keep the camera men out of the frame so well?

Deliberate positioning of our cams in the room so that they don't point directly at our ops too often, and then knowing where on the stage is "safe" given who's leading a song etc. Sometimes I'll ask someone to move slightly if I notice them being really obvious too. But overall, it's just a lot of reps and practicing that exact thing!

I think that's very fair! In this particular case, it's donations and then also proceeds from some of their other products. But I get it

Thank you for the video. This has been very helpful. Unfortunately, the pricing is going to price smaller organizations out. This is really a shame even as I respect RenewedVision for doing whatever makes them more profitable. Renting instead of buying... *sigh*

The best review I've seen about the Pyro. Been comparing alternatives all day and think I made up my mind. Thanks so much!
