4K MiniArt Sd.Kfz.234/2 Puma Part 16 - Camouflage, Tires & Decals!
In Part 16 of the MiniArt 1/35th scale Sd.Kfz.234/2 Puma build, we’re taking major steps toward completion here on JET Scale Models! I started with a base coat of Dunkelgelb on the body and turret, then carefully added the camouflage shapes and lines based on artwork for Puma "023" from the Panzer-Aufklärungs-Abteilung of the 20th Panzer Division, using green and rotbraun for historical accuracy.
Next, I painted the tires to give them a realistic, rugged look, and then applied the decals to bring out the finer markings and details. Join me as we get closer to the final reveal with each step. In the meantime and in between time, that’s another addition of JET Scale Models. Y'all come back now, you hear?

    Another enjoyable episode. You demonstrated some great techniques. Glad you include the "missteps" . You have a lot of patience. I would swear a lot more, especially dealing with the tiny parts. Any idea how many after market items you have used. I've lost count. They certainly add to the accuracy. Many thanks.

      Thanks,man- glad to hear the effort is liked by somebody LOL - honestly if I included all the audio I would get demonetized lol. I think I only used the smoke grenade tubes, (which aren't that much of an improvement on the kits) a couple antenna and the Aber barrel- that's it.

    Don’t forget those little clearance bars on the front bumper. The German antennas mount have an aftermarket alternatives that made of metal. Rise your production costs but faster your job.

      hey there thank ! the corner posts will be seen being atttached in upcoming vids- they are notoriously fragile so they will go on near the end...the aftermarket antenna mounts may well be an improvement- I haven't seen them so..and ya- as I'm retired and on a fixed budget - gotta watch the costs. As well it enjoy the physical side of model building- that is, using the kit parts for the most part but do my own homemade mods. Thanks for watching.

    Its nice to see this coming together at last 😉I enjoy your factual interjections regarding vehicle and equipment. As too antenna... Have you tried using electric guitar string? If you have a guitar shop around ask for a 26 wound 3rd string for electric. If you strip off the wound part the core is steel wire that can be snipped to length and used. Cost is about $1 and will make 20ish antenna. you could pick up a thicker 36 wound 2nd string as well, which has a slightly thicker core and choose which 1 you like best. I've not used a kit antenna for a few years now as they work so well and are less fragile. I look forward to the rest of the painting 👍

    • @JETScaleModels
      @JETScaleModels 3 дні тому

      Thanks for the kind words! I'm glad you're enjoying the journey with me. 😊 I really appreciate your suggestion about using electric guitar strings for the antennas; that's a fantastic idea! As for the *stabantenna*, They were typically made from copper tubing, and they have a constant taper from about 18-20mm at the base down to around 10mm at the tip. For a 1/35 scale model, that translates to roughly 0.51mm at the base and 0.29mm at the tip. Guitar strings in my humble view aren't appropriate if you are going for accuracy as the thickness is constant. I can’t wait to dive into the painting next-stay tuned for more updates!

    Building all these miniart kits, what are you gonna do building a Tamiya or another company's kits? You wouldn't know what to do. Lol. But every video you do, reinforces why I don't build miniart kits. Haha. As to burnishing fluid? Use it after you put things together. It doesn't harm the painted parts and it will darken the PE without you handling it. I did that once and it worked far better. Now? I just use it on tracks.

    • @JETScaleModels
      @JETScaleModels 8 днів тому

      Haha, I know exactly what you mean! These MiniArt kits can be a handful, that’s for sure. Tamiya kits are fantastic - I’ve built plenty over the years, starting with their Sd.Kfz. 8-ton back when it was a new release in the ’70s. I remember that one well! But maybe it’s just my build style that gets me into trouble with all the extra parts and detail.As for the burnishing fluid.... I guess you can tell how I feel about ever using that again lol

    Loving the videos for this build and I'm following them with interest as I have this kit in my stash and I am hoping to get to it over the winter. A couple of questions please. Where do you get your sources for the radio wiring and do you know how the power for the radios gets to the revolving turret? I know that in vehicles with a full turret basket and floor the power comes up through the turret floor but I can't fathom out how this happens when their is no turret floor.

    • @Armourworkshop
      @Armourworkshop 10 днів тому

      Hey man, glad you’re really liking the videos. Yeah I’m no expert by any means I’m just stumbling through this stuff. I have different sources mostly on the web. Also there’s an interesting thread on missing links that talks about it and one of the suggestions is that the power from below gets to the turret through the seat as in the Case of the panzer one, but in any case I would think it would be pretty impossible to actually build and or see that connection on this model kit because how do you get your fingers in there to attach everything if the turret is on the roof anyways, mostly just digging around here and there And guessing for the most part😅

    • @JETScaleModels
      @JETScaleModels 14 днів тому

      Hi there! Thanks for watching and for your kind words, really glad you're enjoying the videos! The suspension on this kit doesn’t quite allow for turned wheels like the RFM kit-at least not out of the box. With a bit of modification, you might be able to get it there, though. As for comparing this build to the Stuart, I’d say the fit on this one is a bit trickier in some spots. The Stuart felt more straightforward overall, but both are rewarding builds in their own way. I get what you mean about the vision ports-would’ve been nice to have the open slats, but like you said, not a huge deal. I did not consider using magnets for this one It’s always an option for future builds, though! Thanks again for the support and great questions! Jet

    For the spark plug lines try using evergreen strip 0.25 x 0.5mm. I've just completed a V54 engine for a T55 using this and it bonds very quickly with extra thin cement. Give it a minute then attach the other end and you should have a secure fitting. Much more effective than trying to get wire to adhere to styrene.

      Sure! Here’s a friendly and professional reply: --- Hi @duanebarkakoti3999 Thanks so much for the suggestion! That sounds like a great approach, especially with how quickly the evergreen strip bonds using extra thin cement. I appreciate the tip on securing both ends-definitely a smooth solution compared to wrestling with wire on styrene. While I’ve had some success with the wire method, I’m always open to trying new techniques to improve the build process. I’ll keep this in mind for future projects! Thanks again, and happy modeling! Best regards, JET

    I'm working on the Takom 250-1. It's a bear. the question is where did you find the color for the engine for your Puma?

      I found the engine color in the kit's paint schedule. The Takom 250-1 sounds like a tough build-hang in there!

    I enjoyed the video even though you were not happy with it. Very informative for ignorant persons like myself when it comes to planes. Out of curiosity, what gauge was that copper wire? It seemed very malleable to manipulate where you want it. I’m glad my buddy Jeff Donahue reccommended your channel, I’m enjoying the content!

      Hey there! Thanks so much for watching and for your kind words. I’m really glad to hear that you found the video informative, even if I wasn’t fully satisfied with it. As for the copper wire, I used 32-gauge-it’s thin enough to be flexible, but still holds its shape well for detailing. Big shoutout to your buddy Jeff Donahue for sending you my way! Hope you continue to enjoy the content. Stay tuned for more! Cheers, Jet

    Great work, I have to admit i have avoided MiniArt kits due to the sheer number of tiny detailed parts but you may well have changed my mind, it really does look excellent, thanks for sharing....subscribed 👍

      Thank you so much! I completely understand your hesitation with MiniArt kits-they can definitely be a bit daunting with all the tiny parts. But once you get into it, the level of detail is really rewarding. I'm glad the build has helped change your mind, and I appreciate you subscribing! There's more to come, so stay tuned! Cheers!

    I'd be willing to donate $1200 a month to the channel if he just narrated in bypassed any music.

      Unfortunately this video was pretty music heavy- lots of dead air to fill😅 Thank you so much for the generous offer and for supporting the channel! I really appreciate the feedback, and it’s great to know you enjoy the narration. I’ll definitely keep that in mind for future videos. Your support means a lot! Best, Jet
