IMO, the downfall started pre 2013. It started when Giggs was allowed to play till he was nearly 40. Scholes retired and then came back because we didn't have the necessary quality in the team. We let Pique go back to Spain and we kept Evans. We sold Ronaldo for 70-80m and proceeded to replace him with Young, Jones and Smalling while City signed Kompany. Even Rooney questioned the quality of those replacements, so much so he almost left for Chelsea. So, the rot had already set in before 2013!

Moyes, got a raw deal. Inherited an aging roster and got virtually no help in transfers. Fellaini was not as bad as people claimed but wasn't good enough. The positive is he worked hard and gave his all for the club. Can't say the same about Pogba, Lingard, Martial, Depay, Di Maria, etc. Moyes proved at West Ham that he is a quality manager and could get the job done. Personally, I think Mourinho should've been kept on, instead of the board indulging Pogba's nonsense.

He is not the best tecnhical player but he is a very smart one and physically he's probably the most impressive player I've seen in Portugal. Yes Pote and Trincão are very good players but without Gyokeres, Amorim would not have the success that he's having. Plus he doesn't know how to defend with fewer players. Yes, Amorim knows how to work around Gyokeres but that is all he can do. Gyokeres carries this team and not Amorim.
