Drop a 1150, and it will likely start…I have been taken out by a round hay bale dropped off a tractor on a hill in Luxembourg, and continue its journey, as I did. Drop a modern electronics laden machine, don’t think it’ll have the same chance of keeping going. (I also have a 1200 gsa, lovely piece of kit, but doesn’t feel as bomb proof).
🤣 "We have a Gen 1, Gen 2, and a Gen 3 GS"... I'd love to know why the R1100GS, R100GS, or R80GS are not called the Gen 1...
im not into non of these bikes. But for sure i am into this guys, great guys i watched the full video for the good talk
I have a 1400GTR 2012 which I have used for 12 years to commute in Stockholm (Sweden) 8 months of the year with no problems whatsoever. First I just use the top box, don't need the side boxes on and I easily filter between the files often by folding in the mirrors if it gets extra tight.
I had the following bikes 2004F650Gs,2007R1200Gs,2016 R1200RT. I amnow riding a 23 year R1150 R. And thru thinking about what I needed the bike to do, As one of the fellows said. This $5,000 CDN bike will do the same thing as a 1250 which will cost 4 times as much. At 70 i now carry less weight , less luggage, less Financial burden. The kike does not even have a gas gauge, a gear indicator ,abs. Nothing. You and the machine like 50 years ago when i found out a simple motorcycle, a sleeping bad could take me as far as i wanted to go. And then these old reliable bike...they do win your affection.Everytiume they start, they remind uou how loyal they are and how eager they are to be with you and take you anywhere.
Still today the best bike ..never sell mine .
How about the 1100 GS. I've had a 1100gs 1150gs. 1200gsa 06. And now I own another 1200gsa 56 reg with 21k miles. I'm not keen on the newer ones.
Wow Underated channel! Nice content
Liked the video, as I own a XJR 1300 RP02 myself including the Laser exhaust. The wrong statements about the FJR were already mentioned above, so I wouldn’t repeat. Only thing, I didn’t like was the constant background music, not needed for me.
150,000 kms still running mint no problems..
Just bought an 08 seat is like plywood the most uncomfortable bike I ever owned the motor is great can't wait to get another goldwing
Buy new seat. Easy fix..
What can I say, you lot said it all...way to much yip, not enough riding, BORING.
Who says R1150GS is Gen 1? get your facts right. Gen 1 is R80GS then comes R100, R1100 so this makes R1150 Gen 4.
I'm not sure that 1250 would fit in my garage. 😁😁
I loved my 2012 but, no cruise control, a bit heavy and the cost of valve adjustments is ghastly!
Bus comment is brutal
RIP ❤
Great video! Thanks from a happy owner on Isle of Skye. It’s a great long distance tourer. No cruise control though. It’s not quite as much fun as a ZZR1100 but there’s no chain to worry about and if you use really use the revs on this machine it’s bloody ridiculous 👍😎
I have 2021 model, there is literally nothing else to upgrade…. The power, the handling, the comfort, luggage…. Simply great bike all around. When i bought it i was joking saying i bought a sport car on 2 wheels!
I had a Puch.. Mates took the piss. It was yellow. No pedals.. It did the best wheelies.. I have a GTR Now. I'm 62.. Fabulous
The best improvement kawasaki could do is make it easier to work on. Maybe hydraulic valve lifters to eliminate the valve adjustment job…
What a wonderful interview! I have a 05 and I do my own maintenance and I find myself marveling at the engineering. Thank you
Great vid! Subbed
Old wide boy in the middle nearly as wide as his elephant he rides 🤣
to add. I would not touch new ones with a barge pole. Way too expensive and complicated. He said it correct. You could buy a 2010-2012 GS twin cam. best one. Then a spare one. Ive got 2 F650GSs. Even buy a track day sports bike. Instead of all your money in one that depreciates.
Had a R1150RT. Bit heavy parking and moving. One on road great. Now got a R1200GSA triple black 2012. Its got to be the best option. Saved up and did my research. Not too heavy or complicated. Plenty fast enough. Loads of spares and accessories available. Only issue is when clutch needs replacing. Big job. But still manageable. You need GS911 diag tool. then self maintain is poss. Bike for life. brilliant engineering. Good video.
Great video. I can relate to these guys. I've had lots of bikes over the years but the C14 has been calling my name ever since first demo riding one 12+ years ago. Loved it from the moment I straddled it and hit the starter button. Rode one every time I got the chance just to do it. Finally got my own this past summer. Currently have two other bikes but no real desire to ride them. Love this thing and would probably part with everything else first. Great bike!

I have r80, k1100 and last year production r1100gs and looking at the new R series I do not see this as development. Sorry. To each his own of course.
Water wasn't a necessity for technology advancement but necessary to be able to pass future euro emissions standards😢 so they had to be more bulky, heavier and more complicated. I Mean look at the middle one, its a behemoth compared to that 1100 next on its left.
R1150GS for the win. Simply cause of the looks. The newer ones are disgustingly ugly.
Great review., very informative. The 1150 is rare but cheap in Norway. But the 1200 really is not that expensive. And there are many of them. Would love to own a 1200...😊
Nice side but ugly motorcycle ! It's a failure.
It runs for ever, I’ve owned all sorts of bikes, zzz 1400 h2 fire blades bandits trials bikes max bikes , rode my k75 all over Europe with no issues. It just hit 100,000 k and it’s about to do another run Scotland to Estonia , it’s been in use every day the last two years never under a cover or garage, still no corrosion , yes it’s slow by modern standards and won’t do wheelies but it will always get you beyond where you want to go,
