8-5-2024 In the past week or so Nikon has archived all DSLR crop sensor cameras in their line up EXCEPT the D7500. The D7500 can still be bought on Nikon's site. As a matter of fact there are ONLY five DSLRs left on Nikon's site. Four are full frame and one the venerable D7500. A camera I love so much that after buying a D750 I still couldn't bring myself to part with it.

Love the idea of taking photos before your shoot. Yes it documents your travels but also it's probably like watching a skate video before going out.... gets you in the zone!

Just got one of these for $700 CAD. I moved up from a D3100. Wow. The color is so much better. The D3100 is still a great camera but I find 7500 colors much closer to life. My son is a red head and with the D3100 his hair looked almost orange.

Wonderful video! I've been using this one for video, I do wish it had a flip out view finder so i could see what i look like 😅 I'd love to know if getting a different lens would make this look a bit better to film with (i use it for youtube videos)? I just have a really old 18-55mm body kit lens. Even though I have this, Im glad you cemented some of my questions around it too like the autofocus and 1080p etc. so big thank you!

shot in 1080p?

I love my d7500! Ive shot with my buddys d850 and i like my d7500 way better!! I like bigger cameras but the d850 felt mickey mouse compared to my d7500. I couldnt put my finger on it, maybe the clicking sound of the d850, it sounded like it was going to come apart!?! I know it was just a sound and it was all good but not for me.

I need some help again: I just bought a semi new D7500 (less than 3k shots) and everything was fine. Now sometimes when I turn it on the screen doesn’t show the main settings and it doesn’t show quickly the picture taken (even when the setting on). All the other options work properly on the screen. I turn it off and on around 4 times and it goes back to normal, but soon it starts showing the same problem. I already updated the firmware and restored the original settings…

Hi Keith. You are an example that gear is not as important as person who use it. I have Nikon D7500 and I truly love this camera. It works brilliant with original Nikon lenses - even cheap Nikkor AF-P 18-55 3.5 : 5.6 give me an excellent images - AF works with this lens and D7500 perfectly. As soon as I bought 3rd party lenses the issues arose. Firstly with my Sigma 50-100 ART - problem with AF points other than center AF point and lots of missed and blurry images. I also bought a Sigma 17-50 2.8 and I have the same problem with AF system - images taken using AF points other than center are same as with Sigma 50-100 ART - missed and blurry. Firstly I thought that I have camera with broken AF system but when I took shots using Nikkor AF-P 18-55 3.5 : 5.6 using all AF points in dim light condition (for make the test harder for D7500) all photos was pin sharp. So, I think this is great body and I love it but there can be a lot of AF issues with 3rd party lenses. As you mention this is great camera and If any talented person got it as a result it will produce great shots. I also made some videos with D7500 and Nikkor AF-P 18-55 3.5 : 5.6 and I was truly impressed on quality it gave - for my needs it was much more than I need. Best regards.

Good advice Bryan, I bought mine a few years ago second-hand, having had a couple of other Nikon cameras, including the P1000. But I sold them on, when I came across the 7500 in a local camera shop. I've never looked back, it does everything I wasn't from a camera, and it handles a Nikon 200-500 with ease, okay it may not be the fastest autofocus, but it's dam sharp and with a few tweaks of the in-camera settings the quality is great. Most people who have cameras are not professionals, but will still go and pay a fortune, thinking it will make their pictures 100% better. What makes a good photographer, is having a good eye to composition, and learning everything there is to know about how your camera works. Just for reference, my standard go-to lens is the Nikon 18-200, it covers every eventually when needed in an instant!

Good info. I have a D5500, which just recently started acting wack which I discovered was due to a frozen info button when I tried to do a reset so now I'm looking. I'm leaning toward the 7500 but was curious to know what cameras you were referring to when you said that there were better choices in the purchased-new D7500 price range.

i've moved on to mirrorless and will be buying the Z8 or Z9 next but I'm keeping the D7500 it is a fun DSLR.

I find it hard to recommend when the d7200 exists especially if you are buying used.
