I have a lot to thank you for Piano no Mori really, I watched the series first and then instantly asked for the manga to read too. But I had fallen out of love with the piano because I was so depressed but then I watched it and read it and it made me SO inspired to play again! And I thought I hated classical music but now and absolutely love it and it's all because of Piano no Mori. So I owe it a lot. Your Lie in April is amazing too, I cry every time I rewatch it, even though I know what's gonna happen 😥😥

Pianos must be hell to animate

All that matters is practicing. My son has been taking piano lessons for 2 years but doesn’t practice (mom will not let him quit). So 2 years of Simply Piano for $300 or $4000+ for lessons? I would pick Simply Piano until my son shows some interest.

I've watched many anime about music and Forest of Piano is by far my favorite.

In Forest of Piano, I think it was mentioned that that piano was thrown out in that forest and of course it was weathered. This made it hard to play, like hard to press. That may be the reason for the shoulder movements and I think they also mentioned that is the reason MC can hit the keys harder. or something. 😅

I love these animes. Mangakas out there, please make a guitarrist one.

Uh- Are you sure they used rotoscopy for Nodame? It looks like a 3d hand model all the time, I remember to think it when watched it too.. Unless they used the model over the real video as to rotoscope it instead of drawing over. [If automatic or not, no idea.. I don't know what tec we had then; but I do know even in early 2000s I thought Ps was witchcraft and it was going around for a long time by then xD] I hoped you reacted to Sakamichi no Apollon too. The 3d was pretty notorious but it worked prettily with the art and I was happy watching the movements when playing. It was jazz what they play, I think- I know nothing of music, sorry.

The other guy is also a musician so not someone who learnt playing the piano for a role. They did this battle live on stage. The speed is real. Anything else can be attributed to not-so-great editing.

I got spoiled so completely before I watched Your Lie in April. I knew who had what secret, what was going to happen, to whom, when, what other characters were doing and where, and even what imagery was used to convey the event... so of course I bawled my eyes out all the same.

If you are going to include Your Lie in April you can talk shit on the other shows for getting body mechanics wrong. That show gets it so right that every criticism of the others is justified.
